- Serbia have defended their Rio 2016 Olympic title in the men's water polo after defeating Greece 13-10 at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. While Greece had to settle for the silver medal, it was still a history-making moment for the team as they the nation earnt their first medal in men's water polo. Prior to Tokyo 2020, Greece best finish in the men's tournament was fourth at Athens 2004.

because its too hard for beginners, you need to be a masters swimmer and have really huge stamina

Looks like a really enjoyable (but tough sport), the great/terrible thing about the Olympics is you see so many enjoyable sports you wish you had an opportunity to participate in when you were younger.It;s a great advert for so many sports that don't get much media attention.

I tako su velicanstveni otisli u LEGENDU , totalno dominirajuci svetskim vaterpolom 15-tak godina . Sto je jos bolje vec im se vide naslednici . "NEMA ZIME" u Srpskim bazenima , voda kljuca od ovih zestokih momaka.
Toliko radosti ,srece su doneli svom narodu . Hvala za svaki osmeh,svako URAAAA...onako jako ,glasno uz svaki postifnuti gol.Nikada necu zaboraviti letovanje HN,gledanje polufinala i finala nasih Bogova na olimpijadi u Tokiju.Navijanje onakvo u avakom kaficu,restoranu , ulici trebalo je doziveti.Veliki pozdrav za Bokeljce divni ljudi.Uostalom iz tog divnogg HN je i jedan od najboljih svih vremena Andrija Prlainovic.Ova generacija je pokazala samo da je besmrtna

That shot mostly looked like shoulder strength, but strong legs and core also help as legs get you high above the water and the core helps with rotational torque / also forward crunch power
There is a kinetic chain which decide the qualities of the shot. The chain starts from the legs going through core, twisting the torso, shoulder, elbow and wrist. The most important is the last piece which is wrist. 80% technic 20% strength I would say.
You use torque in your core and back and shoulder to put it all together

Great match by both teams, fun to watch. For anyone watching that's new to the sport, the female commentator is dead wrong about half the time she says anything, It's pretty clear she doesn't know the sport that well (or was just stumbling over her thoughts to an extreme degree). So don't get confused by what she says lol. I've honestly never heard a sports commentator who sounds less knowledgeable about the game they are casting than she is here.

Water polo is so different from Swimming. Even though the are both played in the water, different skill sets are required as I am a swimmer and has played water polo before.

Come here because watched re-main (water polo anime) tbh I just discovered it, just wow swimming itself so exhausting, can't imagine how hard water polo is, the training also very hard, and how the way they kicked the water for jump, and the power of throwing the ball 🤯

Listening to this lady comentator near the end of the match I have to conclude that she knows nothing about waterpolo and what Serbia (Yugoslavia) is in this sport. As the matter of fact Serbia is the most sucessful nation in the world in this sport carrying the most world olympics medals/gold medals, being numerous times world and european champions etc....and for her to think that greek team had a chance against this Serbian team was laughable. This was nothing more than a harder training game for Serbia. All respect to Greek team.

Since you play water polo you should have also known that the one who dictates the match is the referee. Since both of them decided that it was indeed a goal (which according to FINA rules it was), then the score was correctly adjusted.
Have you ever played at a game when a player with 3 exclusions reenters the game? What happens is that basically every action (goal, penalty, exclusion) that happened after the 3rd exclusion is quite literally deleted and the time goes back to the time of the exclusion. Unfair? Sure you could say that, but it was a mistake (be it the player's, the coach's or the secretary's of the game) and as such it should be corrected.
why do less people know about this great sport watching these dudes swim like little goobers is entertaining

Yep. In some nations this is essentially the national sport. Especially the balkan nations love water polo. Many strong clubs and national leauges in these nations!
