My BMW specialist told me the reason oil filters disintegrate is because they are not fitted correctly. The filter housing needs to be clicked back into place.
Some oil filters break as the inner tube isn't actually attched to the outer, so the paper element itself is the only thing holding it together. Genuine and Mann filters seem ok, I have seen some which are very poor though. I bought a Blue print filter and decided not to fit it as it was so poor and flimsy.
Top one again Reg! FYI, its not needed to take your Ultra racing front strutbrace off. There is just enough space to pop the cover off and slide it out, also Oil filter is still accessible with the brace on. I took my M140I out for a hoon, what a lovely cars we have !!
I used that for mine on the break in oil change, just because I wanted to keep it OEM for that, then I went to millers. 0w-30 is a very thin oil I think. Fine when the car is brand new for the first oil change but after I would go to 5w30, and stay there.

Great video Reg and thanks for shopping with us!
Cheers Tim ! Have been ordering my oil/filters from you guys for a while now 😎

Thanks. That’s good to know re: strut brace. We sure do!
@@roadreg1820you need to use new BMW screws to re-assemble the strut brace as these screws are one time use only
@@vollcare3594 nah - it’s fine ! Thank you though!
Reg, have you done your gearbox service yet? Would be cool if you did a detailed video on that.
I have actually! I’ll see what I can do. Thanks Alee. 😎
Mines due in 4k miles and it'll be the first time since my BMW plan ran out. I assume its the JR Automotive in Surrey? Might get a quote from them.
Nice 👌 He’s very good. It’s JR automotive in West Sussex not Surrey. I left a link in the description of the video.
I can’t see the link… looks like you may have put the Williams link twice?
Interesting oil choice. I have had my 140 from new, 18 reg. Always use Castrol Edge 0W 30. Do you think that is a decent oil?

@@roadreg1820 Thanks for the reply. I will switch next oil change.
