    i see genesia i click 😂 she does have a different background since she went to an international school but when she speaks indonesian, it's indeed the "basic" jakarta/jabodetabek accent. and i think this is the first time i watch draga and i love her already!

      For me, who doesn't speak it at all, sounds perfect too🙂 jokes aside, I think she brought to the table what she most comfortable with, but in she think in general she is little bit rusty because she doesn't practice it regularly

    • @kodekadkodekad4380

      @@nemanjaciric5733 Yes, that's fair, and she might indeed feel rusty. I totally understand that you might forget how to say a word or the best natural way to express a thought, but with just a few sentences you can already get a sense of what the fluency level of a person is. The intonation, the choice of words, the flow, the sentence structure... her level was just sky high!

    • @kodekadkodekad4380
      @kodekadkodekad4380 9 днів тому

      @@nemanjaciric5733 To be more precise, what I really like is that she's using intonations that are 100% typically French, it sounds very natural, the way you would chat with friends, not French from a school class at all.

    Genesia’s background is definitely not your typical Indonesian story. Going to an international school where she learned English and Mandarin gave her a huge head start in becoming the polyglot she is today. On top of that, studying in Germany and Korea meant she had to pick up those languages too; talk about impressive! Thank you again for representing us, Genesia! 👍
    I love how, when the Spanish girl complained about Spain being hot all year round, Genesia just stayed quiet. Like, girl, if only you knew how much worse Indonesia is with its year-round heat and humidity. LOL! 🥵

    • @patricknofilter
      @patricknofilter 12 днів тому +3

      Only near beach city in Indonesia is hot like Jakarta and Surabaya, will be different with Bandung, Dieng, Gianyar, Karangasem, Kintamani etc high land will not be that hot comparing with summer in 4 seasons countries

    • @kilanspeaks
      @kilanspeaks 12 днів тому +5

      @ Ah, brilliant observation! Spoken like someone who’s clearly never experienced the concept of actual seasons in a four-season country. 👍 Because yes, of course, a few cooler highland spots in a tropical country magically cancel out the relentless heat and humidity the rest of us endure year-round. Truly groundbreaking insight!

      D’ailleurs, ça me rappelle quelque chose :
      Je n’ai découvert Draga que récemment. Je ne savais pas jusqu’aujourd’hui qu’elle était francophone. Pourtant, à chaque fois, je me faisais la réflexion qu’elle avait un « ton » ou un « timbre » français. Je ne sais pas comment ça s’appelle en terme de linguistique (si quelqu’un sait, je serai ravie qu’il me le dise), mais c’est une manière de parler, un fond sonore, un halo de résonances propre à une langue. Ex. : pour moi, les Américains ont un son nasal, on sent qu’ils parlent en faisant vibrer les parties du fond de la gorge vers le haut, le nez.
      Donc, ça ne m’étonne pas d’apprendre que Draga est parfaitement francophone. :)

    18:41 Selam! Native Turkish speaker here. 🇹🇷
    First of all, Mehtap is so cute when she talks in Turkish and I adore her but she explained it a little bit different about the suffixes we add at the end of the nouns. The basic structure goes like, in order to say “my house” in Turkish, my is “benim” and house is “ev” so it’s basically “benim evim”. You can also just say “evim”. The “m” at the end of the ev is the suffix she’s talking about in the video. Therefore, you don’t say house mine in Turkish but you can omit my and you can just say “evim” with the possessive suffix. Great video! 🤍

    It's interesting that a lot of foreigners besides these girls in the video say that Serbian sounds like an Italian trying to speak Russian (there's even a video on UA-cam where they asked a bunch of foreigners to guess the language and most said Italian). From a linguistic perspective, I suppose there are several reasons for this:
    1) Phonetic Similarities (both Serbian and Italian are phonetic languages, meaning they tend to pronounce words as they are written, which can make the sounds seem more similar, both languages also use relatively simple and consistent vowel systems, which gives them a musical or melodious quality; this phonetic similarity, especially with vowels (a, e, i, o, u), might make them sound alike to some listeners),
    2) Shared Syllabic Structure (Both languages tend to have clear syllables that are pronounced distinctly, which gives both Serbian and Italian a rhythmic, musical quality. In Serbian, the stress tends to fall on different syllables depending on the word, but the syllabic structure itself is still relatively similar to that of Italian),
    3) Similar Sounding Consonants (Both Italian and Serbian use clear, distinct consonant sounds that can make them seem similar).
    4) Historical and geographical proximity,
    5) Lot of words that have the same Indo-European root but there are also some loans from Latin (Roman Empire) and Venetian in Serbian language: Muzika (srp.) - Musica (ital.); Banka (srp.) - Banca (ital.); Kultura (srp.) - Cultura (ital.); Pijaca (srp.) - Piazza (ital.); Kapirati - Capire; Ćao - Ciao; Paparaco - Paparazzo; Regata - Regata; Salata (srp.) - Insalata (ital. but venetian salata); Barka - Barca; Bokal - Boccale; Fontana - Fontana; Graciozan - Grazioso; Kapetan - Capitano; Kavaljer - Cavaliere; Kredenac - Credenza; Skica - Schizzo; Cokule - Zoccoli; Kupola - Cupola; Vino - Vino and many more.

Sa musique est influencée par le bikutsi, une danse et un chant créés par les femmes, qui se retrouvent pour échanger leurs vécus quotidiens, à l’abri de la présence des hommes.

    Why do they count their native languages? For example, for Mehtap German and Turkish are native languages and she even counted German twice. However, swiss-german and German are not two different languages, swiss-german (Schweizerhochdeutsch) is just a dialect. In fact, she knows only 4 foreign languages.
    Same with Draga. She also knows 4 foreign languages because Serbian and German supposed to be her native languages. Genesia counted 2 languages that she knows only at a basic level. Well, I also know several languages at a basic level, two foreign languages at a high level and I'm also a native speaker of two languages. Is that mean I'm a polyglot? - Of course, no, it doesn't. :))

    • @StefanStader
      @StefanStader 6 днів тому

      it does mean you are a polyglot. Also, speaking native languages, plural, doesn't mean that can't be impressive, most people who grow up with two or more languages speak some or all of them with a certain accent and/or worse than others. Don't know about the spanish girl, but Draga, Genesia and Mehtep - not so much. That can and should be impressive, because it takes a lot of effort, also in a native language, to keep up a certain level. Stop diminishing people fcs

    • @StefanStader
      @StefanStader 6 днів тому

      Did you really write they would speak "ONLY 4 foreign languages" without getting red cheeks? Have you ever listened to one of them speaking those languages? They are at a near native level in what and how they are speaking, come ON
