# 21 Tears for Fears: Songs from the Big Chair
One of the great pop records of 1985 and the eighties in total. Who doesn’t love the charming “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” with its twangling guitar or the bombastic “Shout”? But the deep cuts are equally good, f.e. “Broken” which sounds like an outtake by Saga or “Head Over Heels” which came to fame in “Donnie Darko”.
# 22 John Fogerty: Centerfield
# 23 The Cure: The Head on the Door
# 24 Prince: Around the World in a Day
# 25 Allan Holdsworth: Metal Fatigue
# 26 Pendragon : The Jewel
# 27 The Replacements: Tim
# 28 The Highwaymen (Nelson, Jennings, Cash, Kristofferson): Highwayman
Hey Pete. I love your shirt. I live right down the road from the mall where that movie was made. It was just sold to Walmart.

Today we match - great album!
My Day 8 Pick:
AC/DC - Fly on the Wall
This one was kind of plagued by some unwarranted controversy surrounding the band, because of the serial killer Richard Ramirez (a.k.a. the Night Stalker) being a fan of the band. The asshole also threw them under the bus, and claimed that "Night Prowler" - the closer from Highway to Hell - inspired him to commit his heinous murders. That compounded with the Satanic panic at the time, this wasn't one of the band's most successful albums to say the least.
Nonetheless, it's another solid slab of hard rock from Australia's finest, from the opening title track to closer "Send for the Man." And the first time I heard this, I already knew "Shake Your Foundations" and "Sink the Pink" from Who Made Who and Stephen King's film Maximum Overdrive. Other highlights for me include "Danger" and "Hell or High Water."
#21 AC/DC - Fly on the Wall
I wasn't going to list this album, but I listened to it again and it surprised me.
Favorite Tracks: 'Sink The Pink', 'Send For The Man', 'Stand Up' and the devastating “Shake Your Foundations"
Albums That Are 40 Years Old in 2025
#21 AC/DC - Fly on the Wall
#22 Aerosmith - Done with Mirrors
#23 Exodus - Bonded by Blood
#24 Saint Vitus - Hallow's Victim
#25 Possessed - Seven Churches
#26 Venom - Possessed
#27 The Smiths - Meat is Murder
#28 Talking Heads - Little Creatures
Rush: Power Windows
Great pick.
8) R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction
I became a fan of R.E.M. the first time I heard "Carnival Of Sorts (Boxcars)" from their debut EP Chronic Town in my friend's dorm room at Rutgers in 1982. Then came Murmur, an awesome debut LP, and Reckoning, a great, if sometimes overlooked record.
But, Fables Of The Reconstruction is my favorite of the band's IRS Records era albums.
R.E.M. never sounded so pure, simple and majestic before than they do here - it's a dark, melancholic and purely Southern gothic sound wrapped in enigma. It's a murky effort that blurs the distinctions between dream and reality, it's impressionistic and psychedelic. Mike Mills' rich bass drips like honey, Peter Buck's guitars chime and jangle, and Michael Stipe's gorgeous baritone weaves in between. Each instrument carries its own melody yet somehow they work together pulling you inside, as on "Driver 8". Even Bill Berry's drums are melodic (listen to the last part of "Green Grow The Rushes"). In all the record's abstraction there's power, there's tension, there's an unnerving quality. At times an adrenaline-fueled, but surreal feeling of running in place, as on "Life And How To Live It". Americana in an opiated haze. Or the wayward, disorienting party thrust of "Can't Get There From Here" and "Auctioneer". Always a sense of real place, real and imagined, a desire to escape, remembrance of simpler times, gravity pulling up, a liquid effect. Brilliant and underrated stuff.
Fables Of The Reconstruction is a vibe record through and through, and if you're not feeling its vibe, I don't imagine you'll get a whole lot out of it. Which is fine. You don't have to love this album. But it's the most overlooked record of R.E.M.'s early years, and now that we've had 40 years to look back on it, I think it's due for reevaluation. One thing's for sure, it's the only Fables Of The Reconstruction-type album I know of.
1) Pentagram - S/T
2) Pete Townshend - White City: A Novel
3) Emmylou Harris - The Ballad Of Sally Rose
4) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Southern Accents
5) The Cult - Love
6) Saint Vitus - Hallow's Victim
7) The Smiths - Meat Is Murder
8) R.E.M. - Fables Of The Reconstruction
@@christophercoles4401 Hi Christopher. Superb pick and write up. Love that spooky intro on Feeling Gravitys Pull. It´s a great album that got mixed reviews here.
Excellent pick on my list
Wonderful choices yesterday and today. 🎶
Hey Chris, great pick and write-up!
They did it their way CC, but they could write a pop ditty if they needed to, to stay in the he masses ears too. Superior write up!
A-Ha - Hunting High & Low, debut album by the Norwegian pop band. Includes the singles Take On Me, The Sun Always Shines on T.V., Train of Thought and the title track. Classic 80s pop with a dose of Scandinavian melancholy.
My pick for day 8 is Motley Crue : Theatre of Pain. I should probably hate this album because it was released in the aftermath of the death of Razzle, Hanoi Rocks drummer who was killed due to Vince Neil´s drunk driving. Obviously the death of Razzle was first and foremost a horrible tragedy on a personal level when he lost his life so young, but it had also unfortunate consequences on a musical level. Two Steps From The Move ( released in 1984 ) is one of my favorite albums overall and Hanoi Rocks were so close making their international breakthrough, but after Razzle´s death it never happened. However Theatre of Pain is in my opinion a really good album. Tonight ( We Need a Lover ) is the best song here, but it´s solid from start to finish. I think we have to thank Mick Mars and his guitar playing for a lot. For example Home Sweet Home lifts up in the end with his guitar work. Tonight ( We Need a Lover ) has an amazing guitar riff and basically every song has great guitar playing in it. Marching Out is not on my list, but it could be. I´ve bought 3-4 Yngwie albums, but they were released in the late eighties and the early nineties, so I wasn´t following Yngwie back in 1985. I´ve heard some songs from Marching Out, but I´m not completely sure if I´ve ever listened to it from start to finish.
AC/DC - Fly on the Wall
0:20 pick #8
My pick: AC/DC - Fly On the Wall
My pick today will be a twofer as I missed yesterday
Simple Minds ‘Once Upon A Time’. Was fortunate enough to see them on this tour! Great outdoor concert!
Mr. Mister ‘Welcome To The Real World’. My album for the fall of ‘85! Have a great day everybody!
@@resistor27 hi resistor. I’ve heard of the music from Simple Minds but only a little. Your second choice I know well since I have this album. Love the songs on this album.

21. Mars Needs Guitars! by Hoodoo Gurus
Choice cuts: "Bittersweet," "Like Wow - Wipeout"
22. Old Ways by Neil Young
23. Our Favourite Shop by the Style Council
24. Pentagram by Pentagram
25. Phantasmagoria by the Damned
26. Power of the Night by Savatage
27. Astra by Asia
28. Noble Savage by Virgin Steele
They were consistently great.
Brothers in Arms Dire Straits
Day8-Savatage-Power of the Night. This is the 2nd studio album for the Oliva brothers and crew. It was about as good as the first album, with Criss riffing and soloing, and Jon’s amazing vocals. In the Dream and Skull Session are 2 of my favorite songs on the album. This album should have been a start to their career greatness, but the next album was not very good. Hall of the Mountain King sent them on that journey, but Power of the Night is still a fantastic album. That is my number 8 pick.
Great pick.
On some days the riff to the title track is my favorite riff of all time.
21 - Marillion, Misplaced Childhood
Great pick Mark.
Today's pick is Brother Where You Bound, by Supertramp.
Title Track is easily my favorite.
Great choice. I enjoy this album easily as much as Breakfast in America (not quite as much as Crime) 😏 It's a little different to prior albums which is good, another later album l really like is Free As a Bird. That one really has some strong catchy tunes.
8. IQ - The Wake
Neo-prog in the same vein of Marillion, Pendragon, Pallas, Twelfth Night
7. Georgia Satellites - Keep The Faith
Straight in-your-face Rock.
"Keep Your Hands To Yourself" killer track
6. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
5. Dio - Sacred Heart
4. (The) Cult - Love
3. Barnes Jimmy - For the Working Class Man
2. Autograph - Sign In Please
1. Accept - Metal Heart

24. Lizzy Borden - Love You to Pieces
25. Living Death - Metal Revolution
26. Carnivore - Carnivore
27. AC/DC - Fly on the Wall

Day 8: ZZ Top- Afterburner
Despite all the synths, I love the songs on this album.
Excellent choice, Howard.
@weirddebbiem1619 Thank you, Debbie.
Great pick Howard
Jan Johansson, father of the brothers was a very prolific jazzpianist in Sweden. Tragically died in a car accident 1968. Jazz på Svenska, Jazz in Swedish is a classic. Highly recommended.
Good morning (afternoon, evening or night), Pete. Another fine SoT choice. Personal pick today? The sixth studio album by the American rock band which was released in mid-June on the Sire label - Little Creatures by Talking Heads. Will have to admit it was the MTV video of the album opener "And She Was" that burrowed itself into my brain and led to the purchase. Since not discussed too much on the channel, the band consists of: David Byrne on guitar and vocals; Chris Frantz on drums; Jerry Harrison on keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals; and Tina Weymouth on bass guitar & backing vocals. Reached #20 on the US Billboard 200 charts as well as charted in 13 other markets. Certified platinum in New Zealand, 2 times platinum in the U.S. and gold in the UK and Germany. 4 singles released including "And She Was" and "Road To Nowhere" which were in the original 9 tracks on the album. The album expanded the scope of the band's music to include more art rock as well as funk and punk with an ear/eye on increased pop sensibilities. An example of this is "Road To Nowhere" where lyrically is about a depressing fate but seems optimistic musically. This remains the best-selling album by the band and is the album usually pulled when in the mood to hear the Talking Heads even though there are many tracks from other albums that enjoyed as well. Enough rambling. Thanks as always, Pete. Looking forward to your next selection.
@@johnmichaelwilliams6694 hi John. I’ve heard of this band before and only listened to a little of their music. Interesting article
I picked it earlier but you did the great write up Thanks MJW
Pick #8: Rush's Power Windows. As much as some of the mid to late 80s Rush albums maybe get less love or are seen as more stale compared to the classics, there are days where I almost prefer listening to them just because I've heard them less times overall and therefore they feel fresher to my ears, though pretty much every Rush album I at least like.
#1: Asia's Astra
#2: Sonic Youth's Bad Moon Rising
#3: Exodus's Bonded by Blood
#4: Megadeth's Killing Is My Business...And Business is Good
#5: Blue Oyster Cult's Club Ninja
#6: Kate Bush's Hounds of Love
#7: The Replacements' Tim
#8: Rush's Power Windows
That's a good way to describe the second half history, Hair. I have to pick and choose some of the songs on those albums.
Great pick.
Day 8. The Fuzztones - Lysergic Emanations This is one of those 60's garage band revival bands, and they are really good at it too. The record here contains covers by some of the best of the pre-psychedelic era like The Sonics, Kenny and the Kasuals, The Godz as well as their own tunes. Heavy on the Vox continental organ, turn this on, tune in and rock and roll out.
1. Minutemen - 3-Way Tie (For Last)
2. Darrell Mansfield - Revelation
3. Chris Isaak - Silvertone
4. Asleep at the Wheel - Pasture Prime
5. Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist
6. The Chesterfield Kings - Stop!
7. Molly Hatchet - Double Trouble Live
8. The Fuzztones - Lysergic Emanations
Completely unknown personally before this post but your description made it a must hear. Only time for the first track so far but definitely to move up on the playing list. Thanks for including this in your list.

@@Brother_MarkG Brilliant pick. Also on my list.
Accept - Metal Heart, Wasp - The Last Command & Rough Cutt self titled are a few of my favs from '85
All 3 on my list 🤘🏻
Hi everyone, busy today so don't really have the time for my usual in-depth little blurbs, so I've gone for a trio on my list that perhaps require a little less in the way of background...
MAIN: HELLOWEEN Walls Of Jericho
Arguably the founding fathers of European power metal, and a rifftastic full length debut, following on from their first EP.
HM: ASIA Astra
Underrated album from the supergroup whose debut sold squillions
AOR: Aldo NOVA Twitch
The third album of the Canadian rocker's ever-diminishing initial success, still a decent album, despite lacking the bite of the first two.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Three great picks, Iain! Only Helloween on my list, but I do love Asia and Aldo Nova
You deserve a half day, Sir Iain!

Hey Iain. Excellent choices today. It's been a while since I listened to Aldo Nova. I need to remedy that. Have a wonderful weekend.
Day 8 is well outside of the SoT paradigm.
Around The World In A Day by Prince And The Revolution. The follow up to the massive Purple Rain soundtrack/album. Not as 'rock' as the predecessor, this is a more funk pop. Prince himself plays pretty much everything, but there is an army of other musicians helping him out. Opening title track shows where Prince was at, at the time. Reining in the guitar histrionics in a stripped down funk song. 4 singles were released from this, including the 60's tinged Paisley Park. Condition Of The Heart starts with jazzy piano before a falsetto vocal builds into a lush soul ballad. The biggest hit single from the album is next. Raspberry Beret should be familiar to everyone. Funky guitar with a danceable beat and a singalong-able (is that a word?) chorus. A great pop song. Side 1 ends with Tamborine. The shortest song on the album and can be described in one word: Funky. Another stripped down song, just bass and percussion backing Prince's almost spoken word vocals. Side 2 opens with America. More funky bass drives this up tempo song. The lyrics (hinting at where he would go with Sign O' The Times) at odds with the danceability of the song. Another single, Pop Life, follows. a melodic gem with more great bass from the man himself. The Ladder is a bit of a power ballad. A spoken word verse leading to a big chorus with some wonderful female backing vocals. Had this been on Purple Rain, it would have featured a big guitar solo. Not here. Another soul ballad with a sax doing the lifting. Final track Temptation is the longest song on the album at 8 minutes plus. Now this has got guitars on it. A chugging blues-y guitar riff drives the song with sax filling the gaps. Prince's vocals are off the charts on this - from a croon to a scream. The big guitar solo is inventive and almost atonal. A breakdown at about the 5 minute mark features a spoken word seduction over a piano and keyboard backing before a 'higher power' shows him the error of his ways. An apologetic "I don't know when I'll return. Goodbye" finishes the album. A hit album all over the world. Not expecting much response to this one. I'll be back with stuff that kicks you in the ears tomorrow.
I picked it, it's good to listen to wide varieties, HR

#21: Hooters- Nervous Night
I don't think there is a THE in front of their name on this album, perhaps THE THE borrowed it. They hit the air waves big time in '85 with this collection of bright poppy rock sing along songs. All you Zombies is the great atmospheric song with sweet lead guitar. Another of those bands that you knew them when you heard them.
One of their main dudes co-wrote Time after Time for Cindy Lauper.

Late posting today as I've just returned from the cinema seeing 'Becoming Led Zeppelin'. If you're a fan of the band, then this is hotly recommended. Some great anecdotes and interviews with the band members intercut with a great soundtrack and some vintage live footage. There's even old some interviews from John Bonham RIP.
However, moving on my choice today is an obscure AOR choice but one that's gained interest over time given it's artist. EVERYBODY'S CRAZY by MICHAEL BOLTON. This is one of the great AOR albums of the 1980s. Bolton of course would go on to become a huge star singing those mainly overwrought soul ballads and standards, but before this he had a background in rock with his band Blackjack, featuring future Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick and sounding something like a more southern rock version of Bad Company. Bruce is amongst the terrific cast of the v cream of the AOR sessioners who play on this album (no Toto though) Whilst the sound and production style have dated this album firmly in the 80s, it's still a great listen for anyone who lives that classic melodic rock sound. Put simply there's a terrific selection of great melodic rock songs here, sung by a guy at the top of his game vocally. He sings with immense power on the heavy title track with it's scything riff and shredding solo. Elsewhere there's uptempo rockers balancing 80s synths with crunching guitars on the likes of You Don't Want Me Bad Enough, Save Our Love, Can't Turn It Off, Everytime, Start Breaking My Heart and Don't Tell Me That It's Over. The only concession to balladry being Call My Name. The album failed to ignite the chart and with the follow up album pointing at a different direction on half its songs, Michael delved headlong into the world of white soul. Here though is a reminder that he had the vocal chops to have been a great rock singer as well.

So Debbie not really my thing but interesting story……
Katrina is actually from Topeka Kansas even tho the band were English. Katrina’s mom (an English woman) must of moved to the St. Louis area because she worked for the music supply company I worked for. Her boss there was none other than Ken Hensley. Yep from Uriah Heep. He ran the promotions department of the company and Kartina’s mom was his assistant. Btw both WONDERFUL people to work with and I actually considered Ken basically a friend. 😁
Hey Starman. That is a great story about Ken and Katrina's mom. Thank you for sharing. 🎶

My pick today is World Wide Live - Scorpions
As a live album, it is only in my honorable mentions, but it is the album from this year that I listen to most.
My pick for today: The Beach Boys, "The Beach Boys." This one has been so extensively maligned that rehabilitation seems impossible, if not pointless, but it's well worth a fresh hearing. Dennis's untimely death seemed to kick the group back into gear, temporarily, and this LP represents a sincere - and, to my ears, mostly successful - attempt to wed their legendary harmonies to the then-prevalent new-wave sound. Carl, in particular, is in splendid form throughout; Brian participates more than he had since the "M.I.U." days; the compositions by Stevie Wonder ("I Do Love You") and The Culture Club ("Passing Friend") are superb; Gary Moore plays lead guitar on a couple of tracks; Ringo drums enthusiastically on "California Calling"; and "Getcha Back" is a genuinely hot rock and roll single that serves, both vocally and instrumentally, as a tribute to Dennis. Gene Landy's co-writing [sic] credits have now been removed, which eliminates one intensely irritating aspect of the original issue, and the 2000 remaster has opened the sound up quite nicely. Fans of the group would do well to afford it a second chance.
Pete Townshend- White City
My pick for today is The Replacements - Tim. An album that grows with every listen and gets better and better. They sound more mature and melancholic without denying their raw punk roots. Paul Westerberg fully shows his great songwriting talent here. Favorites are 'Hold My Life' 'Bastards Of Young' 'Waitress In The Sky' 'Left Of The Dial' 'Little Mascara' and the heartbreaking closer 'Here Comes The Regular'.

Loreena is probably my favorite World Music artist. Another Canadian artist on my list.
08 Loreena McKennitt - Elemental
07 Savatage - Power of the Night
06 April Wine - Walking Through Fire
05 The Dentists - Some People Are On The Pitch They Think It's All Over It Is Now
04 Ozric Tentacles - Tantric Obstacles

01 Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
That's a really fine pick. I love Loreena, and her version of "She Moved Through the Fair" is one of my favourite takes (I like Art Garfunkel's the best) on a song I adore.
@@graciemcc My first album I heard by her was Book of Secrets. When I heard The Mummer's Dance was I hooked.

Day 8, not the highlight of the band but still a good album by Dio - Sacred Heart.
For ex-YU pop/rock album of the day I go with Jadranka Stojaković and her album Sve te više volim. In 1988 she moved to Japan where her soulful light mostly love pop songs were pretty popular.

There is a music museum in Bologna which has a Malmsteen guitar on display with all the priceless ancient exhibits. So Malmsteen is my choice for today.
Hi Pete. great pick in Yngwie Malmsteen. Here is my pick for day 8.
Pick # 21 - Y & T - Down For The Count
Richard Thompson - Across a crowded room.
Sacred Heart by Dio
Mad Man Blues - Dr Feelgood, this British pubrock band that paved the way for British punk, had by 1985 shed a lot of their pubrock origin and they were more of a classic electric blues outfit. Pretty good album that is recommended for those who want to get into a kind of music that is likely to never be played on mainstream radio
Great pick breakaleg. Big fan of theirs
Day 8 #21. Emblematic of the weakness of the year is the entry of this selection. Not so much its content, but the way it was recorded.
Rock music is filled with so much religious thought-primarily of the eastern ilk-so I dived into the arguably microagressed ghetto of CCM with genre legends Petra and their BEAT THE SYSTEM release.
If there was a record that was a product of the 1980s, this was it. It was defined by the technology that every producer was anxious to utilize. For example, the drums and bass were all programmed.
On the song level, it was very good. What should probably happen is for Bob Hartman to go back and do with the album that Kerry Livgren did with Prime Mover: replace the bass and drums with the real thing, remix it, and release it as a double disc with the remixed original album.
22. Promise - Sade
23. Low Life - New Order
24. Howard Jones - Dream Into Action
25. Seven the Hard Way - Pat Benatar
26. Alternating Currents - Spyro Gyra
27. Echoes in a Shallow Bay - Cockteau Twins
28. Tiny Dynamine - Cockteau Twins

Aikea-Guinea - Cockteau Twins
Cocteau Twins would be mortified by that "k" -- they were more of a yonic band than phallic ;)

Hi Pete & everyone. Dave here.. Excellent pick of yours - Yngwie's coming up for me too. Today I'm going with a British indie band, with elements of folk and punk, who specialise in parody, social comment, humour and offence bordering on libel. It's HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT and their debut album BACK IN THE DHSS. The DHSS is the UK department dealing with unemployment benefit, which was a big issue in the 80s with traditional British industries being closed down. Some of the band's social comments are quite oblique and interspersed with humorous puns (like 'Stevie nicks books on kleptomania'). Back in the day, my friends and I used to sing and 'dance' along to songs like The Len Ganley Stance (Len being a snooker referee who stood like a statue). The band, who were championed by British cult DJ John Peel, are still going today.

21 Phil Collins - No Jacket required - What a hit-machine he was! Sussudio is a great bouncy number, One more Night is a bit banal, Don’t Lose my Number is better and could easily be on a later-day Genesis album, while Take me home sounds like a typical 80s hit.
28 REM - Fables of the Reconstruction
27 Roger Daltrey - Under a Raging Moon
26 Eric Clapton - Behind the Sun

Today's pick is Stella from Yello. The track "Oh Yeah" originated here. Then John Hughes used it for his movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off and it became a smash. But anyway, it's a fun, quirky album like most of Yello's catalog. "Vicious Games" is another really good track from this album.
21. The Icicle Works - The Small Price Of A Bicycle
With bands like U2 and Echo & the Bunnymen disappearing for two years, this could have been an opportunity for these Liverpool psychedelic post-punkers to take over, building on the success of their hit single "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)." That never happened despite a conistently great batch of songs, like the anthemic "Hollow Horse," which was a lost opportunity for a movie soundtrack crossover smash. That and the galloping "Windfall," with it's brilliant country-western guitar lick are definitely more invigorating slices of Big Music than the likes of Simple Minds. Ian McNabb's guitar slashes and jangles on "Perambulator," llaying out riff after glorious riff. Every time I revisit this I'm stunned at how underrated and forgotten this album is. Those who like the idea of Suede digging deeper into Teardrop Explodes style psych need to hear this. Cherry Red released a 3CD deluxe edition with loads of B-sides, Peel Sessions, live tracks and covers of "Mr. Soul," "Cold Turkey" and more.

21. Blitzkrieg - A Time of Changes
While Leicester's Blitzkrieg formed in 1980 and released a demo that year and an EP (really just another tape) the next year, they kind of missed the wave in the original run of NWOBHM releases, with singer Brian Ross joining Satan and doing the Caught in the Act album. He got the band back together and properly recorded the band's older songs for their first official full-length a few years late, but it's nice to have this document, a solid representation of NWOBHM history. Metallica of course recorded their eponymous track, helping fuel interest in the band as they started making new albums again in 1995.

Their frontman sadly passed away in 2017, but up to that point was still putting out great music. They put on a great live show as well. Talking about Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Southern Accents
Today's pick is one I've never owned. I don't know if it is on anybody's list. I have heard it. It's Under a Raging Moon by Roger Daltrey. It's a pretty good album. The title track is amazing! B-Movie “Forever Running”. I had two of their 12” singles prior to the release of this album in March 1985. I loved Nowhere Girl!! Wish they recorded more back in the ‘80s, although 30 years later they recorded two good albums that pretty well captured the ‘80s sound.
Pick #8 "Fire and Ice" was released by Elton John on the Geffen Records label in November of "85. Elton has replaced the band that helped him create hit albums here, and piano is at a minimum. Instead, guitars, drums, bass and not a few horns are what make this record rock. Though a bit uneven, "Soul Glove" and "Wrap Her Up" are two good examples of the different sound Sir Elton was going for. "Nikita" was the hit single, reaching the top twenty in both U.S. and U.K. "Fire and Ice" was certified gold in the U.S. by '86.
