Hello! I can't seem to find info in regards to buy a car in Portugal and later ship it abroad. Do you know if it's subject to the same criteria, the need to provide proof of residency in a way or another? The car would be deregistered once exported at the toll at the border to the destination country, but would need insurance and registration to be driven through Europe. Unless, the car would be shipped by a shipping company. In any case, I can't seem to find info about this, whether online or on UA-cam, but I haven't found the right places to look yet. Do you have any experience or knowledge in this regard?
Without guessing the right or wrong way to do it properly I would reach out - To the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMTT). They should tell exactly how to act in this situation. This is probably the best answer I can give you!

From what I've gathered so far, if you contact a lawyer's office to establish an official address you have the opportunity to create a Taxation number on that basis. Although I can't confirm it with results yet. In either case, once the transfer of ownership is possible, the customs will be the ones to issue export documents and insurance for the time in transit if the car is driven between the countries. I'd like to think that this might help others out too, but due to the prices in Portugal the car import will most likely go the other way. I'll update this thread if I have useful results to share.
How much do used vans usually run? Also, which brands are best for Portugal? I like Honda, but if the mechanic can't get parts, then I probably shouldn't buy a Honda.

Honda is one of the most reliable car makers in the world! ;) There are no specific car brands I could point out as the best for Portugal... The only thing you are looking for is Air Conditioner - must have! :D There are a lot of mechanics and garages around so that won't be a problem! Where it comes to me choosing the car... I knew what size car I need and I knew my budget, so went over available options and picked the best of available.

The address is needed for new documents to be sent to... And I am afraid that friends addresses won't work out! That is what I know so far. But please do your own research according to address requirements because for me this was sorted!
@@fojnica2226 Why not possible? If you move to Portugal get nif sorted (without this number you can't exist in this country) and rent out the place to live for at least one year... That's all you need to buy a car! That would mean no Portugal ID and/or ownership of property in Portugal...

This is a good place to find rental cars in Algarve - www.zestcarrental.com/ It will compare prices from different companies and give you a long list of available options! RentAuto specifically is a good company been using twice before. Does not require a security Deposit!!!
