Thanks for the great advice Sam. I really enjoy just being a keeper ATM. Turning a passion into a business sounds frightening to me but I constantly consider it. I'll probably wait another year or two before I decide if I want to start breeding. Thanks for everything you do. I appreciate it.
I agree - while I'm new at business things in the real world, I've run relatively sucessful online things for most of my adult life. I think probably taking advantage of all 5 directions is important if you're trying to make a successful business with reptiles. Pangea has really mastered this - they have the niche in their lines, supplies, high end animals, low end animals, adjacent/a step further animals. But they've also been in business for a long time! Being flexible and creative is so, so important, too. If one thing isn't working, I think having the ability to pull back and focus on another aspect of your business is also key. I'm sure this is part of why a lot of people are getting out - they pigeon-holed themselves with specific morphs/get-rich quick schemes and didn't realize or understand how a lot of this works.
As a full time gecko breeder I will say in the first example it's usually more like Profit: 100k Expenses: 85k But yeah, taxed an extra 12-15% alone just to be self employed, then add on another 15% on average, and hope you're in a state with no income tax!
9/10 lol as far as cohabitation I have one breeder pair that I allow to cohab all the time I also check them constantly and have never had any issues with them I definitely think it can be done successfully way more than ppl think
Great video as always! I don't think the Crested gecko market is quite as saturated as Ball Pythons, not even close really. But I guess the demand for bps is still quite a bit higher. Hopefully with new morphs being discovered and the inevitable gene stacking that will be taking place, more and more people will be wanting geckos.
I enjoyed your video I would be breeder Sam nobody in this scenario. I breed mostly for the enjoyment of opening the incubator and seeing what I got. My problem is I can't stand the selling part but I can't keep everything either and I don't think I'll ever go full-time well keep up the great vidoes
Is a there any difference between a dark axantic and a grey one? I’m in the market for an axantic now that the price is lower but I’m not shure witch one is better investment since they are both same price
I would get the 300 gecko over that 500 all day every day. Especially paired to my red LW Harly. I'd rather have the least amount of spots on it anyway. Glad I also branched out into leopard geckos (still own) and Tarantulas (not any more)

Nothing wrong with just being a keeper or small breeder. I think that's the most enjoyable place to be for most people.
