I feel pretty darn appreciated by comments like this! Thank You for your kind words. I am generally more than happy to answer questions regarding HZD in the comments so long as they aren't covered too much in my videos.
This was incredibly informative and helpful info for me as a new player. I appreciate your work here. Sometime info was delivered a little too quickly but i just had to rewind a few times. Thank you again
One habit I needed a little bit of practice to develop: When hunting either Fire Bellowbacks or Tramplers, after applying Freeze, be careful to NOT shoot the fuel sack or processing unit. If you set them on Fire, you lose the Freeze effect. The same consideration but in the opposite direction can be seen in Psykko's video on Ikrie's challenge, where the strat is to set the Tramplers on Fire, but you need to be careful to keep them out of range of Ikrie or she will Freeze them, losing the Fire. Good stuff. I am learning a lot thru your videos.
uh, yeah, that answered all of my questions. it's nice to know some of my intuitions were correct, but there was plenty of stuff I had no idea about. like i am totally guilty of spamming fire arrows after they catch fire, mainly out of laziness to switch to something else. but now that I know it's useless to do so and I should switch to something that deals more damage I'll have a hard time knowingly spamming fire arrows after fire effect is invoked. I was always curious about how many effects a machine can have at once, so they can only suffer one effect but can accrue other effects while still being effected by the original effect. i suck at shooting canisters, but i know much more about it now
Honestly, once you've frozen a target, unless going for a weak point you may as well just spam your hunter or hard point arrows anywhere on the machine vs bothering to Triple Notch each shot. The fact that the draw doesn't affect damage in this game is just SO nice & SO very abuseable against Frozen foes 😅 This is why I actually love the regular ol purple Shadow Hunter Bow in this game as you don't have to worry about Overdraw. This was something I really missed in FW aka the no damage reduction for short draws, although I suppose Warrior Bows made up for this and are probably my favorite new weapon type in the 2nd game as it's the only bow in FW that doesn't get a damage reduction at partial draw.
That was really interesting. I'm in my third play through and I had no idea that freeze was so powerful. I basically don't use it (but I will)! By the way, I think you mean to say "conversely", not "adversely". Adversely means "in a way that prevents success or development; harmfully or unfavourably". Conversely means "introducing a statement or idea which reverses one that has just been made or referred to".

Let me get this straight (after 42 hours, doing every side quest, and currently losing myself in the Forzen Wilds and putting on hold the main storyline). Elemental damage basically multiplies the damage the piercing ammo inflicts? Cos as of this moment, I have barely used elemental and then the piercing ammo - just sticking to the piercing ammo and taking ages to kill Frostclaws, Thunderjaws, etc....
Freeze element effect/status Multiplies Pierce and blast damage types. No other elemental effect/status inherently multiplies Pierce and Blast damage types.
@@Psykko_ thank you! After the video had to try and freeze thingy, combined with the dmg. It is a breeze compared to how I have been playing so far. Liked and subbed. :)
Thank you! I said exactly what I meant! Freeze enhances physical damage by 3x bonus damage to the bodies of machines and 2x bonus damage to weak points of machines. Machine weak points have varying bonus damage multipliers that factors in on top of Freeze bonus multiplier. As an example TJaw hearts have a 5x bonus damage modifier, so a frozen TJaw takes 10x bonus damage to their heart.
@@Psykko_You're right, I just got confused by 3x bonus damage meaning 3x damage and not 3x additional damage. So 300% total damage to the body. Also, is the 2x/3x arrow reloading effected by handling?
thanks. this is great. one question about fire effect, how is damage over time calculated? is it standard value or can you increase it somehow with coils?
Came here to find out how elemental damage works and also found a bunch of spoilers showing end game machines and bosses with no spoiler warning. Thanks. Otherwise good video
Hello, loved your channel, super informative and helpful guides. May i ask how do you manage to play Ultra hard without using the Shield Weaver armor? After i got the shield weaver everything becomes easy for me, i can focus on combat and my movements without having to worry about my health, because i know basically everything including Watchers can one hit kill you in Ultra Hard. With that sheild I noticed i never have to worry about shards and resources, before i got the shield i even bought health potion because crafting them feels like a waste of time, fatty meat is not easy to acquire. So back to my question how did you survive UH without Shield Weaver armor?
I guess the real answer is I have played H:ZD long enough I can dodge or avoid nearly all attacks. Between a combination of being able to read enemy movements well enough to predict their trajectories and upcoming attacks even if all I can see is a (!) on the side of the screen as well as abuse of dodge roll I-Frames and high damage or solid elemental CC strats. The attacks that do hit the most I have high resistance of in my Stealth outfit, which is melee/fire. Stats/Weaves can be found in another video.
Shouldn't medium daemonic machines have elemental resistances of 263 instead of 300? It seems that corrupted machines have 150% and daemonic machines have 175% of their standard variant. If this isn't the case, they seriously made too many exceptions here. Who's gonna keep all this in mind?
Coming back to this game due to the Remaster after Forbidden West really reaffirmed just how poorly balanced Forbidden West was when it came to it's weapon & elemental mechanics. It's like they overcorrected certain things to the absolute extreme... Making things like Fire & Tripcasters completely useless in the 2nd game. The elements in FW are just a mess... Unbalanced to the point where Frost is still by far the best element to use in most any situation & all the other elements have become far less useful. The one element that needed to be debuffed wasn't debuffed at all lol aka Frost. I feel that the 1st game is much better balanced overall when it comes to the weapon mechanics & elemental effects. I'm really not sure what went wrong... it is quite strange.

Constructive criticism: too much music, your voice isn't clear due to it.
Great tutorial but is there any way you can make your voice maybe sound more masculine?
