I was having carb issues with my 660. This man is amazing! Did exactly what he said and it made a world of difference! Thank you so much.
Thank you I'm glad that my video could help you
Thanks for the video. Chainsaw mechanic but friend brought me this big carb to rebuild.
Your help appreciated.
No problem I'm glad that I could help you
Incredibly helpful fixed a problem I have been having for a min. Thank you
Thank you and it was no problem I'm glad that my video could help you
Thanks for the very detailed explanation of the Yamaha 660r Raptor duel carburetor
Great video. However one question
Why is the starter jet responsible midway issues if it only to assist in starting?
Awesome video. Ready to rebuild my carb now 👍
It's a little frustrating but take your time with it. It's always going to need a little tweaking that just comes with the carburetor. thank you and I'm glad that my video could help you.
Very detailed video great job, the only thing I wish was added is how to remove the choke, I am having issues with my choke and figure out for the life of me how to remove and replace the choke cable, there seems to no video relating to this
Thank you ,Take a look around my channel I have numerous videos on lots of different things.

Did you rejet these aftermarket carbs for them to work , ive had no luck with mine
The first Chinese carburetor I bought from Amazon work right out of the box. It was a little shaky had to tune it but it worked for a while. The next go-around I rejected it with a jet kit and it ran but nothing's better than the OEM carburetor. Apologies for the late response for some reason your comment was blocked and I didn't know until today.
Good instructor!!!
I'm glad my video could help you
Excellent!!!!
Thank you I'm glad my video could help you
I just had a question the little needle thing connected to the floats, it sits in that hole is it suppose to move up and down freely when seated and if so what can I do so it does?
Yes the needle that's connected to the float is supposed to move up and down as fluid fills the leaves the float Bowl.
I got a 2001 660 raptor. And trouble shooting carb. I have fuel coming from and after peacock, but I have no fuel at float bowl? Appreciate any feedback
Really good explanation
Thanks I'm glad that my video could help you.
Low rev two turns out hight rev three turns out on the air mixer screw but what kind air filter u running and are you running full exhaust or slip on only. Sorry for all the questions I having issues at full throttle and I just found out my raptor missing air intake adapters n filters. The air box there
Would anyone know what is making my 660 rev up when i hit the gas but it takes a min for the power to go to the wheels it just stays reved higher then usual
I got a question I took my carb apart and was just cleaning it, I barely turned the left air/gas mixture screw cuz I thought maybe that’s why it wanted to die when idling, when I put it all back together it won’t even start now it tries but just can’t is it cause I turned that screw?
I’ll most likely put it back to normal in the morning it’s just to late right now and am too tired
@@thotty2hotty530 if it was the left screw yes the left screw controls the idle. If you don't remember how much you turned the screw turn it all the way back down to tight and turn it back out 2 or 3 Turns. If you count how many turns it takes to tighten the opposite side you will know how many turns you need for the side that has the issue. Just make sure you count correctly
@@JOATD yes sir did that and now it fires up right away thank you
I had a question my quad 660 when I drive it half throttle is chokes but if I full throttle it works but to much power so do I need to adjust the left turn the left side with a flat head like 2 and a half or 3 is 3 turns more gas or less ?
And fyi I just installed a new carb but have not messed with it
Does screwing the air mixture needle in richen or lean the mixture
Yes
Which way is which
If you are on the left side of your bike turning it to the right is opening it turning it to the left is clothing it. Remember to turn it to the left and count how many full turns it takes to fully close it so if you mess up you always know from a closed position the original setting
Yea so when the screw goes into the carb it leans the mixture and when it’s unscrewed it richens it
@@raffromeo18 yes turning the screw in makes it lean turning it out makes it rich
How did these carbs work out? Any issues running them?
I'm going to be honest with you it took a little bit but I got it to run but I had to reject the whole thing take a look at my descriptions I have a lot of info in there
@@JOATD my 05 raptor 660 has a full pro circuit exhaust and k&n open box filter. I'm going with Dynojet 146/148 and a #25 pilot. What turns would you suggest on the left & right air/fuel screws?
@YaGoonie 5.3 take a look at the bottom of this page at (my suggestions) in the descriptions area I was starting at 2 on the left two on the right or two on the left two and a half on the right. ua-cam.com/video/efkt_7_4p4E/v-deo.html
Are you saying that the fuel screw on one carb effects high rpm and the other one low rpm?
Correct
@JACK of all TRADES Dre how can that be correct? at partial throttle the venturi effect is pulling fuel up the main jet , therefore partial throttle fueling is controlled by the needle position and the mainjet size? not arguing , just wondering
The left carb is the primary carb and supplys the mixture up to about 1/2 throttle, where the right (secondary) carb starts to open and supply its mixture WITH the primary carb. This allows 2 smaller venturi carbs to combine to = 1 large carb when wide open. A smaller venturi = higher velocity/vacuum through the carb, meaning better fuel atomization and throttle response and, as opposed to a single larger carb with less venturi effect (velocity/vacuum) which will cause poor fuel atomization/ throttle response. No they are not syncronized. They require different jetting because they have different resposibilities in respect to throttle opening AND have some overlap in operation. Essentially you have a 2 barrel carburetor. You should be able to feel it when the secondary carb. starts to deliver its mixture.
I did not read your question correctly I apologize.
@JACK of all TRADES Dre Are you sure that correct? The raptor 660 is running 2 carbs with 2 separate inlets. They feed into 2 separate runners in the head with 1 feeding 2 valves and the other feeding 1 valve. I don't see how the airfuel screws in either carb effects anything but idle.. I thought one is jetted differently that the other because it's feeding 2 valves vs the other feeding 1 valve ....
Great video! I am chasing a issue with my 2005 660. It backfires a lot on decel which i think means it is lean. It also will not start unless i have the choke on for about a minute then it will idle on its own but then randomly stall and i gotta restart it (no choke this time)
It's a couple of things that you need to look through. Make sure none of the boots have cracks in them. Make sure that the spark plug is new. If it's a carburetor issue it's very hard to diagnose. You basically have to play with the air fuel mixture and the Jet needle position until you get it right. Everybody's settings are going to be different it depends on how old your carburetor is and what type of modifications you have. It's just a trial and error thing. If you look in my descriptions I have some settings that you can start at
ua-cam.com/video/efkt_7_4p4E/v-deo.html
Check out the descriptions all the way at the bottom maybe it can help
@@JOATD Thank you! I cleaned the carb out before but I will do it again. Going to throw a new plug in there and adjust the needle clip position. The machine has stock intake and exhaust. I am going to check what jet sizes are installed. Has original carb as well
@@Jursaw yeah man it's crazy it's because it has that two carbs set up it makes it hard to tune it
@@JOATD found my issue, low compression due to excessive ring end gap! New piston kit and gaskets on order
