    Great video. However one question
    Why is the starter jet responsible midway issues if it only to assist in starting?

    Very detailed video great job, the only thing I wish was added is how to remove the choke, I am having issues with my choke and figure out for the life of me how to remove and replace the choke cable, there seems to no video relating to this

      The first Chinese carburetor I bought from Amazon work right out of the box. It was a little shaky had to tune it but it worked for a while. The next go-around I rejected it with a jet kit and it ran but nothing's better than the OEM carburetor. Apologies for the late response for some reason your comment was blocked and I didn't know until today.

    I just had a question the little needle thing connected to the floats, it sits in that hole is it suppose to move up and down freely when seated and if so what can I do so it does?

    • @JOATD
      @JOATD  Рік тому

      Yes the needle that's connected to the float is supposed to move up and down as fluid fills the leaves the float Bowl.

    I got a question I took my carb apart and was just cleaning it, I barely turned the left air/gas mixture screw cuz I thought maybe that’s why it wanted to die when idling, when I put it all back together it won’t even start now it tries but just can’t is it cause I turned that screw?

    • @thotty2hotty530

    • @JOATD
      @JOATD  2 роки тому +1

      @@thotty2hotty530 if it was the left screw yes the left screw controls the idle. If you don't remember how much you turned the screw turn it all the way back down to tight and turn it back out 2 or 3 Turns. If you count how many turns it takes to tighten the opposite side you will know how many turns you need for the side that has the issue. Just make sure you count correctly

    Are you saying that the fuel screw on one carb effects high rpm and the other one low rpm?

    • @JOATD
      @JOATD  Рік тому

      Correct

    • @KrustyQuad
      @KrustyQuad Рік тому

      @JACK of all TRADES Dre how can that be correct? at partial throttle the venturi effect is pulling fuel up the main jet , therefore partial throttle fueling is controlled by the needle position and the mainjet size? not arguing , just wondering

    • @JOATD
      @JOATD  Рік тому

      The left carb is the primary carb and supplys the mixture up to about 1/2 throttle, where the right (secondary) carb starts to open and supply its mixture WITH the primary carb. This allows 2 smaller venturi carbs to combine to = 1 large carb when wide open. A smaller venturi = higher velocity/vacuum through the carb, meaning better fuel atomization and throttle response and, as opposed to a single larger carb with less venturi effect (velocity/vacuum) which will cause poor fuel atomization/ throttle response. No they are not syncronized. They require different jetting because they have different resposibilities in respect to throttle opening AND have some overlap in operation. Essentially you have a 2 barrel carburetor. You should be able to feel it when the secondary carb. starts to deliver its mixture.

    • @JOATD
      @JOATD  Рік тому

      I did not read your question correctly I apologize.

    • @KrustyQuad
      @KrustyQuad Рік тому

      @JACK of all TRADES Dre Are you sure that correct? The raptor 660 is running 2 carbs with 2 separate inlets. They feed into 2 separate runners in the head with 1 feeding 2 valves and the other feeding 1 valve. I don't see how the airfuel screws in either carb effects anything but idle.. I thought one is jetted differently that the other because it's feeding 2 valves vs the other feeding 1 valve ....

    Great video! I am chasing a issue with my 2005 660. It backfires a lot on decel which i think means it is lean. It also will not start unless i have the choke on for about a minute then it will idle on its own but then randomly stall and i gotta restart it (no choke this time)

      @JOATD  Рік тому

      It's a couple of things that you need to look through. Make sure none of the boots have cracks in them. Make sure that the spark plug is new. If it's a carburetor issue it's very hard to diagnose. You basically have to play with the air fuel mixture and the Jet needle position until you get it right. Everybody's settings are going to be different it depends on how old your carburetor is and what type of modifications you have. It's just a trial and error thing. If you look in my descriptions I have some settings that you can start at
