I'm 22 years old and I'd just like to thank my parents for taping Gremlins and the Goonies back in the 80s. Because this intro was cool as heck to watch when starting up those VHS tapes.
I know this was at the beginning of many VHS recordings my family and I had growing up! I honestly was scared of this intro with the hand coming up out of the ground, but I got more scared because I always thought we were watching Short Circuit! I know Short Circuit isn't scary but as a kid on the Autism Spectrum growing up, so many things about that movie scared me like the opening credits where Number Five is being assembled in the factory with close up shots of the parts being sodered and welded together along with the motherboards and other things with the creepy sounding music by David Shire. Then I would be scared of the demonstration scene at the proving ground after the opening credits where it showed a jump scare of tank treads entering the frame over flowers. The way all the robots looked especially when their optical sensors turned red was very scary to me while they were blowing up tanks, jeeps, and deuces. It also scared me when Johnny Five got struck by lightning and his eyes turned red and such. I also was scared of G.W. Bailey's character Skroeder getting angry in the movie when Number Five was on the loose. I've overcome my fear or all that now and I love Short Circuit! I also love this Cinemax intro. Nowadays every time I watch The Goonies or Short Circuit, I always think of this awesome Cinemax movie intro!
Man. This takes me back. Between this and the 80's HBO feature presentation promo, it reminds me of watching movies with my parents when I was 4
Remember when this intro came on, I had to go to bed. I still snuck out and watched through the banisters..

Now I feel like I'm staying home from school sick.
That was done around mid to late 1985. That's when it debuted.
This takes me back to when I was 8 years old and R ratings were not comely used yet. I was also afraid of the hand coming out of the ground..hahaha

The 80's were such an awesome time to be a part of. Everything was awesome back then.
It's not from any particular movie. It's just part of the intro.
