Back in the 80s Everytime I heard the HBO theme playing, anywhere in the house, it was like NOS injection in me and I came flying to the living room to see what movie was about come on. Man, those were some exciting and fun times! I miss those days.
HBO did a "making of" special about how they built the little HBO City and had the camera pan over it to create that opening. I was obsessed with it. That was when I fell in love with miniatures. Thanks for posting this!
Da da da da da da da da da

Omg you nailed it!
Without question, HBO had the best opening with that logo in space. It was EPIC!!!

HBO Please go back to these promos AWESOME
Friends on my Facebook were talking about old openings. So now I find myself looking at all of these.
That HBO had me pumped for something good to see that night!
Intro followed by “ the following movie is rated R for…” you knew it was a great movie
A little big of the music from the Back to the Future movie at the beginning, too.
The classic HBO introduction music. Ahhhhh....the memories!!!
Auh I miss the 80s 😪
The good days for HBO
And Showtime
As a kid, the HBO bumper always captured me!
Three was also an HBO "Fame-like" dance routine intro, after the iconic original one.
HBO was the best 👌
I remember when all we had was HBO and showtime. It was the best time . Now, we have hundreds of channels and pure garbage!
The big four of cable - HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Disney Channel
The big four of streaming - HBO Max, Paramount+, Amazon Prime and Disney+
Cinemax = Skinemax (as most people called it)

Disney Channel = America’s Family Network
Disco party!.. disco pants...
Sounds like Showtime stole...sorry, borrowed some of their riffs from Patti LaBelle - Stir It Up (1985)
I heard I'm so Excited from Hot Shots Part Deux... I mean, The Pointer Sisters
It sounds like some of the rifts from I'm So Excited by The Pointer Sisters too.
I came at 00:43. you?
