Lyrics:
Shootin' for the stars
Cruise the speed of light
Glowin' God of Mars
Body burnin' bright
Well, I'm riding
Riding on the wind
Yes, I'm riding
Riding on the wind
Tearin' up through life
Million miles an hour
Blindin' all in sight
Surgin' rush of power
Well, I'm riding
Riding on the wind
Yes, I'm riding
Riding on the wind
Riding on the wind
Riding on the wind
Riding on the wind
Riding on the wind
Thunderbolt from hell
Shatterin' aloud
Screamin', demons yell
Burstin' through the clouds
Well, I'm riding
Riding on the wind
Yes, I'm riding
Riding on the wind
Halfords vocals are insane
AMEN or LIKEWISE!
🙋
This isn't the pinnacle of Judas Preist's career... it's the pinnacle of music in the history of mankind
Woah this comment NAILED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/10 👏👊🥂👍
Halford in his prime .1982 vengeance your I was there
Fuck yeah brother
I was there at the infamous cow Palace California
facts
Best vocalist in the world
This comment...:! One year has passed and no one has argued about it
Rob doing those "white knuckled screams" HELL YEAH!!!!
By far...
Easily
What about Freddie?
I was at this show. Memphis '82 the best Priest concert ever. Top of Form.
that's awesome...
Defenders tour was equal, plus they had the Metallion on stage, breathing fire and laser green eyes (: and every song on that album was great
@@C_mao Defenders was a great album and a tour, it did not compare to Screaming and that tour . I saw both, Screaming is still a bettter album to this day, not knocking Defender's, a great album in itself.
Portland, Maine...ears rang for 3 days being only about 5 rows back.
LUCKY YOU. I never saw them live and I live in the UK for God's sake!!!
I watched this concert on VHS 8 million times when I was a teenager.
I used to,too. Born in 1984.
I hear you. My VHS of Priest turned to mush. :)
Me too!
Me too…it was called
Priest live though.
NEVER SAW THEM LIVE - i WISH i HAD.
Dont understand, why people dont like this song....its brilliant
who doesn't like this song? i'll kill 'em where they stand. this has been a classic priest tune since it came out
Oh God Punish "em and show "em no mercy ! We luv ya! :D
I didn't like it at first but now I do
stfu. Just because a couple people you know dont like doesnt mean the rest of the world hates it too
janborrowitz It’s one of the best tracks in the album, the first 4 are the best.
Holy CHRIST he is on FIRE here!!!!!!
Who is? I see five guys on fire!
@@edwardmaxwell3951 True! It is easy to not realize this! IMO, these other four wrote the music that forced Halford to bring it! And so he did!
Also coked up his ass lol
In is prime 🤘🤘🤘
Rob smashes a cymbal with his forearm at 1:48
A Paiste's Rude series crash cymbal being punched by Rob Halford.... that's pretty metal
You should have seen/heard him reve up a Harley, drive it onstage and proceed to bullwhip it as a song intro. He was such a ham.
This hits like a million volts. It did it in 1982 and ever since. These guys will remain in history for thousands of years.
⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
WOW THE YEAR I WAS BORN!!!!! Love viewing life the Year I was welcomed into this World of ours!!!
Love this era of priest. I wish i coulda seen them live back then. Rob's voice could break steel.
i'm in the crowd rocking awesome concert this is in memphis tn.
"Screaming 4Vengeance", the 1tour I saw Priest live & it was EXcellent! And, true, they helped metal evolve in an interesting direction, gothic elements & just kick*ass guitar passages & riffs! Judas Priest was deafinitely unique!
Hey Gary! I remember that! It (the Memphis show) was radio broadcast on the King Biscuit Flour Hour. I think we ,S.A.,TX ,were ahead of you on that tour. Yeah man, that was one hell of a concert! Time Machine Please! Peace, Phil
For the kids out there, it was a nationwide radio show recorded live.
I saw them twice during this era and they were spectacular both times. I also saw them twice several years ago in a small forum and that was great as well.
I have🤘🤘🤘
RIP Dave Holland.
@rj zander he was a funk guy at first
@rj zander he had the easiest most simple drum patterns in rock. But it worked.. The music in that time period needed something simple to bang your head to and fist fuck the air.
Ace Gibson simple yet effective
You go play a PREIST concert!
THE Voice of Heavy Metal!!
amen
Rob Halford at the top of his game. Amazing.
There's no hope for someone that can't appreciate this performance.
The late Chris Cornell may have had the right to be mildly critical about this performance of Halford and Priest but anyone else criticizing this CANNOT appreciate this level of singing and / or simply doesn't like metal music. Either way, they must be converted or ELSE! Bring on the METAL CRUSADES!
UPDATE: Just to clear up any potential confusion, My mentioning of Chris Cornell having the right to criticize Halford here was purely hypothetical and in fact, is a supporting statement for Halford. Given Cornell's unmatched brilliance he is about the only person who could say "well Rob I would have done this and that instead of... etc". Sorry if anyone misunderstood. Funny how the same bits read differently between one's mind versus in print / online!
@@joeblog2672 Halford seems more consistent live than Cornell, being a gifted and powerful low to normal tenor vs Cornell being a gifted and powerful baritone making a difference shooting for high notes. I'd also say Layne in his prime was a unit live, but he was also a powerful low tenor/high baritone. Cornell and Layne both had the benefit of vocal training by David Kyle, and Cornell also got training from Jon Anderson whereas Rob has been said to be self taught through 30,000 hours of practice. Regardless, all top tier vocalists and among the small list of greatest who will ever live.
@@yangwenli4878 Interesting opinion, which I appreciate along with your reply itself. Judas Priest are my favourite band all time and I'm certain it won't shock you when I reveal that Halford is a big reason for my choice. However saying that Rob Halford is a more consistent live performer than Chris Cornell live, I can't quite agree to. I would say that Halford is more dimensional than Cornell. By that I mean Halford can do more at all different ranges and styles than Cornell could (or chose to do). Put another way, Halford demonstrated more contrast ability than Cornell. Consider the graceful fluid style of "The Last Rose of Summer" (from: Sin After Sin) compared with Painkiller or Screaming for Vengeance. I give credit for Cornell doing some different styles like covering Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" and a few others that escape me at the moment but Halford wins out for contrast. Consistency wise for what they did, live or in studio, I don't think there is a clear winner. They are / were too good for too long at what they do / did. What is for certain though is we were blessed to have all these great singers. Cornell and Staley (along with too many others) are gone now but thankfully we still have Halford doing his thing. Long live the Priest!
PS: Just in case you missed the update to my original reply, I just made a note that my reference to Cornell there was purely hypothetical (as opposed to my having cited an actual example of Cornell criticizing Halford). The reference was meant to be a statement of support for Halford''s exceptional talents.
@@joeblog2672 I believe both are exceptionally dynamic, the key difference being Cornell as a natural baritone naturally would struggle more with consistently hitting his higher register. I have seen Halford able to do so quite a bit more of his high range live to this day whereas Cornells high register deteriorated over time due to the added strain of him hitting high notes that a tenor would shoot for with power. Both struggled with over touring however due to Cornells natural register being lower while belting high notes, Halford has been more consistent overall despite the strain put on his tenor range, belting, using increasing amounts of texture in his voice. Another thing to note is Cornell iirc had multiple relapses from sobriety whereas Halford stayed sober for around 40 years, which did affect their live voices. As far as studio performances both have always been top notch.
@@joeblog2672 why would Chris Cornell have the right to criticize anyone?
Most underated song the Priest have ever done, what a jam
don't have to be old to be wise has my vote...
edit...halford really rips the vocals on this track.
effing fantastic!
Are you calling this song underrated so we think you know something we don't? No true Priest fan would give a shit about a rating. Much less call this song underrated. BTW "Old to be Wise" is at the top of my list.
@@georgeglass4105 Maybe overlooked would have been better,, thanks for sharing
Well said this is one of their greatest jams ever I have to say that I had the privilege to see this live on this tour 1,000 years ago and then they started playing it again I have to say this is one of my favorite Priest jams of all time
Here we go. Underrated. Really?
The way rock is done kids'. Listen and respect.
That's the truth. Best concert I have ever been to, and I have been to numerous ones; they blew the roof off the Boutwell Auditorium in B'ham, Bama in Feb '83.
"we're not worthy, we're not worthy"
bows twice
18 mother fucking times live spanning most of their career. Peace, Phil
metal
This is more than Rock Sir, it’s Heavy Metal perfected by The Metal Gods 🤘🏻 😎
That twin guitar attack is friggin awesome, and to see KK with a Strat instead of a flying V looks different. In 82' I was cranking this on Jensen 6x9's in the back of my Trans Am.
pcdubya , HAGAR! Catch me if you can............
Egyptians left us pyramids. Metalhead left this to the generation of the year 7016! tnx Judas Priest
🙋 No doubt!⚡⚡✨
No words... how happy you can feel have born to live the 60, 70, 80's music. Judas is one of a kind and surely deserves laurels of glory
That drum intro is killer, and the song kicks total ass!!!
The Real Metal Gods
God damn this was hard core for then. Brutal vocals all the way through!
🙋
And Halford was drunk almost every concert. That is insane that he was capable of such feats while being intoxicated
This is SHOWMANSHIP, boys and girls!!!!
This is one of my favorites of all the kick ass songs Priest has ever done. Fuckin hands down. This tour was unbelievable.
🙋🇬🇧👑✨⚡⚡
The best heavy metal song ever.
Fucking great song even better live...
Fking love this song, Dave Holland was the best drummer for Priest in my option, solid and in the pocket and NEVER overplayed the song, he and Ian were a machine.3🤘
Sad what he became but undoubtedly perfect for the band. The band is made to feature the vocal and twin guitar attack...having a drum heavy style just doesn't fit them. Like you said playing in the pocket and just keeping the timing at a nice even pace....not slow, not fast...heavy on the cymbals. LOVE Priest. Sometimes I wonder if anyone else hears this song and just wants to go jump over a downed bridge in a Camaro with a mullet...cause I do. Ofcourse after a giant bong rip...
@@nothx962 Binks or Holland kind of hard to decide. I favored Binks. But that's just me.
@@nothx962 man, you were cool until the end of your comment. why must you bring drugs in to an innocent conversation about our love for Priest?
Dave is the Best!!!
@@nothx962 what he became? His name is being cleared as we speak because it all came out to be a complete lie you apparently haven't read KK's book or done any research the mother of the victim said they were trying to get money out of Dave and ruined his name and his career in the process he wouldn't be getting into the Rock Hall of Fame if that was still the case.
Screaming For Vengeance... best Metal album ever! Every cut is great !!
Goddamn right.
I’m old school. Screaming IS awesome but I go back to Hell Bent For Leather and Stained Class. I was smoking a lot of pot in those days. (Sigh). I mean come on, can you get a crazier album title than Hell Bent For Leather? God bless the gay British Rock and Rollers! What would we listen to? Manilow?
Judas Priest in their prime right there.
Dave Holland is so underrated
so sad hes gone murdered i think
Liver and lung cancer
he's one of my favorites. Solid pocket. Drums sound killer too
Pretty basic drumming here, Les Binks and Simon Phillips were on another level!
@@darkmarv8045 sure but he can hold the rhythm really really good and tight, like Phil Rudd
Behold the Metal Gods!
The MARSHAL STACK - Was the CRACK BACK in the DAY!!!
METAL GODS!
The very first metal album I ever bought was Screaming For Vengeance in 1982. What a hell of a time to be in high school and college. And this still rocks as good today as it did then!!
Absolutley must have on DVD!
FORTUNATELY, THIS concert IS available, RE-MIXED and RE-STORED, in the Judas Priest box set, called, "Metalogy!"
Dave motherfuckin Holland, one of the tightest rock/metal drummer of all time. May his soul rest in peace 🤘
Funk fusion as well
No video can do this justice unless you see this song done live!
My best live performance of this song....pure metal!!
Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiit! The best!
This tour was one of only two times I've seen Judas Priest live. Unbelievable energy, tight and raw, non-stop old school headbangin' metal. This song is an underrated gem for sure, love the rapid fire trading licks between K.K. and Glen, so so good.
This song grabs you at the first note and it doesn't let go until the last note!
Metal 101. pure and simple.
This lineup is such the best 🏆 💥🇬🇧 JUDAS PRIEST 🤘✈️☁️
I have watched this many many times and when he holds the second long note... that look he gave, knows he is the man.
One of the BEST LIVE HEAVY METAL SINGERS EVER
I saw JP in October 2022 on LI . They played Riding on the Wind. Sounded just as great now as it did then ! Long Live The Priest 🤘
🙋 I saw HALFORD in September of 1999! I saw 2wo and FIGHT twice too! And I saw JUDAS PRIEST⚡ 3 times🇬🇧⚡⚡⚡✨🙋
One word: Perfection!
They were more than a metal band ; and they definitely rocked .
😂😂😂 That was the second song of that world tour and it was the greatest concert I’ve ever been to in my life 😂😂😂
🙋
Full Power of Judas priest 😊
Dave had a perfect feeling for giving the songs momentum and speed, and still grooving
I think it was caracteristic for this generation, Lesbinks. simon, Paice ( Fireball, Lay down stay down. FLIGHT OF THE RAR. hard lovin man ...) Dave dowle , Tommy aldridge, Randy castillo ...
This was my very first concert ever. $6 at Arlington Park race track in Arlington Heights Illinois. We begged our parents to go and they had to drop us off .... we weren't even driving yet LOL. What a freaking amazing show! Arlington Park is a horse race track. I can remember them having to stop the show because people climbed into the ceiling of the place . I remember people sitting in circles doing bongs on the floor. General admission. And they gave away the Harley with the screaming for vengeance paint job on it. This is a 3-day Festival put on by WLS radio back in the day. They were the main headliner day 3. They were Kick-Ass. Went on to see them many more times. Hands down they are and always will be the kings of heavy metal! This is how it was done.
Snowdogkh , WHAT? LOUDER! WHAT?
I just started listening to Judas Priest in 2024. I was a casual metal fan my whole life, mostly into a bit of Maiden and Metallica. Recently decided to start taking a deeper dive and soon landed on JP. I can't stop listening to Screaming for Vengeance and Stained Class. Holy shit am I late to the party.
Hell yeah, also the first half of Defenders of the Faith is pretty damn epic too.
The sound put out by these guys is unmatched period!!!!
Nothing Beats this twin guitar live metal.sound ever !
🙋
The best I can never get enough of them they exhilarate me. with lives problems its nice to have the priest to raise a fist too ya know =]
“RADICAL” AWESOME VOICE! AWESOME GUITARS!
Good god 82-85 Priest was THE BEST OF THE BEST! and THE BIGGEST HEAD LINERS!
One of the best live acts of all time!
Imagine back then u could see this greatness for under a double sawbuck
I saw priest, maiden, kiss and Ozzy all in the same week. The 80s we're the best
The best dual guitarists ever
When this song first came out I thought there would never be a heavier metal song than this
The title track
Agreed and I wasn't even born until 10 years after it came out. Judas Priest were the FIRST openly heavy metal band that embraced both the term metal and coined the leather and studs look that bled into punk and still is embraced today. Bands at the time as you probably know, because you were there (lol), all wanted to be just "a rock and roll band". Priest did it best and I believe this song, Freewheel Burning, Heads are Gonna Roll, The Sentinel, and Headed Out to the Highway are just about as good as it gets when making music that encapsulates the feeling of testosterone and bad assness one feels as a young man. You hear this? You want to jump over a building on a dirt bike while smoking a 🚬 and with a mullet. If I was ever cornered by a bunch of lions and someone cranks this shit 😤 I would just charge straight to my death with no fear...ALL HAIL THE METAL GODS!!!
En esta epoca brillaban mas que el oro puro.
My favorite Judas Album, such great memories! I remember getting this cassette and wearing it out. Rob sounds even better here live than in the album.
Hadnt ridden in months, grabbed my jacket, put my leg on my ol 85 VT1100 and went to work. Got back and needed to hear this song
VTwin is bliss
Before the Pussification of music!
masterpiece...
Incredible vocals by Halford here; I saw them last year and the most amazing thing is that Halford hasn’t lost any of his vocal range, despite being 60-something years old. Unreal.
Well you know what they say. You get better when you get older. That applies to Rob, just like it applies to everyone else.
He’s aided and abetted by vocal tricks. Bends down these days! hiding the tricks
El mejor cantante de heavy metal de la historia
Saw the Screaming For Vengeance tour back in 83. Was in the 10th grade. Blew me away. Greatest time in history to be that age, and be graced by the rocknroll and metal that was out then. Insane talent. Priest, Triumph, Rush, Van Halen, April Wine, J. Geils, Foghat.... I could go on and on. What a great time period for music. It will never be the same.
Had front row for the same tour, camped out all night for tickets. Still one of the best concerts I've ever seen and you're right, awesome time for rock. Just saw JP & Deep Purple a couple of weeks ago. Good show but nothing like 83.
YUP
The most influential band in metal after Black sabbath.
ofcourse sabbath gave birth to metal but i think priest had more influence tvh they created songs that resembled many genres before they had even become genres. and most people dont even realize the significance of priests contributions and innovations
Danomite Simply just taking rock n' roll out of the blues and combing all sounds that is heavy into their music. So heavy they even looked the part! Even by 1980, Heaven and Hell featured Iommi doing blues solos (I.E. Neon Knight).

Its interesting that he was totally drunk at this show and still sang like a god. I Love him so much
My favorite band of the headbanging 80s
Priest at their absolute best and peak. Never better. Awesome setlist on this tour too
ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!
Legends
Priest at their highest.
Halford on fire.
Damn, total flash back to my younger days... It was one concert after another, saving money any way a fifteen year old can save to pay for them... And always wanting to see the next sign that Judas Priest were back on play in my city Everything was very intense... Thank you!!! Judas my guide!!!
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
POWER !!!
Guitar Gods. 38 years ago I bought this album and watching this footage is so awesome Thank you
Simply IMMORTAL
This album was and is a very popular metal maniacs favorite. I so miss driving my 79 Firebird TransAm and playing this cassette. I hated to pull out the factory stereo but I had such a collection of cassettes from the 80's. Literally cases full that were in the trunk and in the back seat. Bar hopping and this cassette turned up as high as the system could handle...Then flip it to side two and SFV came blaring through....Damn,,I'm old!!
Ahh the days of cassettes, when we were forced to listen to songs sequentially.... Everytime I think of the song "Screaming for Vengeance" ending with that beautiful 12 car pileup sound, I hear the thumping beat of the next song, telling me that 'I've' Got Another Thing Coming! Same thing with JP's earlier "Sin After Sin" also starting from side 2 where "Call for the Priest" ends into that ground cycle hum of "Raw Deal". In either case, can't hear one without the other!
CHINGONSISIMO !! CON ESTA ABRIERON EN MEXICO EN EL 2005 , DE POCA MADRE , ALLI ESTUVE !!
In the 80's if you were a metal head and priest touched down within a 100 mile radius of your town in the USA and lucky enough to get tickets - you got your head blown off - only other act as a competitor but loved by the same crowd was Iron Maden. YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND works of Ozzy /Randy were yet to be released, once that happend the game changed!!
Aint that the truth. Caught them in B'ham, AL in Feb 83. Was just left in absolute amazement after the show. Still have the British Steel tee shirt with tour dates on it (tho that was not the same tour).
Loudest band eva!!🤘🤘
Saw Iron Maiden open for Judas Priest.....The best concert I had ever been to!!!
I fuckin love judas priest. There music is like a runaway freight train!
