Been a fan since 1977 and I didn't think I would cry, but when Kris Bryant threw that ball across the diamond, two seconds later, tears were streaming down my face. I just couldn't believe I actually lived to see it.
Especially when the Cubs were down 3-1 and Game 5 was the last home game. People at that point were just happy to be in the World Series. Then all of a sudden, they win Game 5 and the series was back to Cleveland. The rest was History! I’m so glad they won that Series despite Cleveland deserved it too. Unfortunately someone had to lose.
Thanks so much for uploading this. I've been looking for this for years. It's cool you uploaded it on October 14th, too, I'm sure that was intentional.
This season reminds me so much of my Tigers 3 years later. Hired a veteran manager, overachieved and made it to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years, made it to the World Series with destiny right in front of them...and shat the bed winning only 1 game against the Cardinals. Still stings.
One of the things I will never ever get over, is Alou and Ramirez booking their flights. Sammy is clearly disgusted, as well as others. Like he said, "I don't wanna hear that...we're fighting!"
If I was Jim Hedry, I would've cut their asses before the game starts. If that's your attitude for a game 7, get the fuck off my team and don't come back.
Sanmy Sosa Mentioned something I never thought of Zambrano and Clement could have closed or bring in Borowski in the 8th, certainly not Kyle Farnsworth 56:10
Yeah at that point and in that situation you need to finish the game and put in anybody but that gas can Farnsworth, he could start a fire nobody could put out which he did which was a big reason cubs lost, if your baker you have to go get mark and give the ball to Zambians or Clement to atleast get out of the 8th and do it to start the inning don’t wait until men are on base or atleast before the Bartman play even happened
The end of this video when they talk about "what it's going to be like if and when the Cubs finally break through and win it all". Well, watching this in 2023 I put myself in that yr this video was made and think about 2016 and how it felt and came to fruition.
The marlins clutch hitting deserve more credit...they didn't simply beat the cubs 3 times in wrigley...they smashed them avg. 8.7 runs per game in those wins....that's crazy
1:23:30 he was right about that, I remember there were lots of schools that had to close the day of the championship parade in 2016 because too many teachers called in sick and there weren't enough substitutes to cover them.
No matter how much people may disagree with me, no matter what anyone says, I will say this until the day I die; the 2003 Chicago Cubs DESERVED to go to the World Series and win it! Now, all this said, I am at least extremely happy that the Cubs finally won it in 2016! 😌
@@gimperiale dang I know. At least your organization tries to win. When our team wins anything significant we trade it away for Pennies. Life of a marlins fan
@@lisastocker7537 hey, you guys got a great hitter this season! I hear he nearly batted .400! Wow! As a Cubs fan, to you I say, good luck, good season, and…if the Cubs and Marlins meet again in the postseason, game on! 😎
Kerry thought the fan base would be cut in half after we finally win it...check that BS at the door Kid K, a d don't underestimate the love of the Cubs fans. We're still here, ride or dying and bleeding Cub blue.
If I was Moises Alou. After that walk, I would've called time, and told Bartman it's alright. You were doing what any fan would do. That would've been the best thing to do regardless of the outcome.
Dude, it wasn't some meaningless game on a June afternoon. If you as a fan think you're more important than your team's biggest game in 65 years, there's something seriously wrong with you.
@JTDutch Watch the replay! Look how high up Bartnan was at. First off, that was still a foul ball, being a strike. If it was a home run, I get it. Where Bartman was sitting, he wasn't sitting that low. Where he was sitting, you wouldn't think a player would have much of a shot catching anying in the stands at that spot. I understand if he was sitting in a lower spot. As Bartman touches the ball, Alou already closed his glove and was on his way down. Bartnan wasn't the only fan who went for the ball. Still was up 3-0. Dusty Baker waits until it's tied up to take a tired Mark Prior out and does the same thing the next day. Waits until the Marlins recapture the lead to take a struggling Kerry Wiod out.
@@DCSk8er529 ... Look where Bartman's hand was when it deflected the ball. Right in Alou's glove. And I don't want to hear about a guy in the front row wondering if he was reaching for a playable ball. Pay attention to the game. You're not the main character. And as for the other people reaching for the ball, they were just as dumb as Bartman was.
@JTDutch So, a fan is responsible for a botched double play, not finishing a batter at full count. 🙄 Still had a shot in game 7. STFU, and stop blaming a fan doing the natural reaction. Learn to not let it bother you.
@JTDutch Speaking of Game 7, is it Bartman's fault that Kerry Wood failed to finish off Cabrera that lead to a 3 run shot, which was really rhe deciding factor in the 9-6 loss in game 7? No, because Bartman wasn't there. Blame the players and Managers. It's won and lost on the field, not the stands.
Now I remember the time that Steve Bartman was told to get out of the ballpark and was escorted out. What would I say if I were the play-by-play commentator on that October 14, 2003? "We had just received unconfirmed reports that Steve Bartman is now getting death threats and now is likely the new "billy goat curse" just because of simply trying to catch a foul-pop-up where Moises Alou was trying to make the catch in the stands, but was denied by Steve. And even though Steve did not successfully catch the ball, I think we see cameras where there is Cubs security now hovering around Steve Bartman, and security is telling him something like "You need to go! You need to get out of the stadium! We cannot even tell you where you will be going to, because a lot of Cub fans and even non-Cub fans are putting a line on you." And he is now escorted out of his seat, escorted by security out of Wrigley Field, and they are even telling him to cover his head, like a murder suspect under arrest, and likely we will never see the face of Steve Bartman ever again...."
2003 now seems like a very distant era in baseball. Today, if my team goes into the 8th inning of a LCS game with a 3-run lead, I'm feeling much better than the other side, but nowhere near certain my team can hold that lead. Home runs have increased in the last 20 years, and any team that makes it to the LCS is going to have some power hitters. A walk and a single brings the tying run to the plate. And then just one hittable pitch might end up in the seats and that lead is gone.
Sosa also was right when the scene was the focus on the foul ball where Alou was livid with that fan and Prior was point his finger on the fan interfering and we lost our focus and concentration went south and Dusty Baker should have came out the dugout and calm his pitcher and players down and say "Look guys forget that foul ball play and we still in command with 3-0 lead and concentration get the last 2 out in the inning
Jack McKeon put Josh Beckett in the 5th inning of Game 7 and it paid off and Dusty didn't put out Clemente and Zambrano out on the bullpen for Game 7 Moises Alou should have calm down and let that play go and go back in his position out there and focus on get the 2 outs in the 8th Dusty should calm.his players down He should have took Prior out with 1 out with a 3-0 lead and went with Zambrano or Clemente and Alex Gonzalez got that double play and had the Cubs done that they will going to the World Series had they focus on the game and not let that foul ball play to get to them and lose focus on their concentration and Sammy Sosa was right and that wouldn't be no Steve Bartman conversation at all.

Dusty Baker, Alex Gonzalez, Kyle Farnsworth, Kerry Wood, Armis Ramirez & Alou I blame them all in so many ways. Sosa as well up 3-1 he's talking to Marlins players like it's over can't do that.
No, they weren't, if Cubs had Aramis Ramirez, and Kenny Lofton all year, they would have probably won close to 100 games, simply put the Cubs lost the series more than the Marlins won it, but they were the World champions, so they deserve congratulations
