For anyone considering this car, here was my experience testing cars before I landed on a 2014 es350 ultra luxury with 84,000km on it about 8 months ago, and why I chose to go with it. I test drove a bunch of brand new cars (camry, sonata etc.) thinking that because they're brand new they should feel comfortable and smooth (I've never driven any brand new car before) and I wasn't impressed at all with any of them. Despite them being priced at 40k+ (in Canadian dollars) they all felt very regular and kind of cheap still. Next I tested a 2019 AWD Acura TLX with I think 80,000km on it priced at 36k just because a salesman talked me into it (plus they were offering me great money for my previous car) but again I was super underwhelmed. It definitely looked sick from the outside, but I felt like that's all it really all it had going for it, plus it required premium fuel which isn't ideal. I also test drove a 2021 es300h with only 6,000km on it just for shits (it was priced at 62k so I wasn't actually going to buy it, but I've heard great things) and honestly the lack of power in the hybrid was pretty disappointing, plus it wasn't the ultra luxury trim so the sound system was surprisingly bad and I don't think it had things like cooled seats and other bells and whistles which one would expect at such a high price point. Another thing I'll throw in in case anyone happens to care is that I tested a brand new pathfinder just out of curiously because it seemed like a good deal for the price compared to the kia telluride and hyundai palisade which were more expensive, and I was definitely impressed but I realized a car of that size just wasn't for me. Finally, I see an ad for the 2014 es350. I kind of wrote this generation of ES off because I wasn't a fan of the exterior styling at all, but this particular one had nice rims on it which I found made a massive difference. I saw the low KM and ultra luxury trim and it was priced at 25k which is significantly cheaper than anything else I was looking at so I said fuck it and tried it out. I was impressed the moment I sat inside, before I even turned the car on. When I took off driving, it was SMOOTH. The car as a whole had that smooth, well built, luxury feel I was looking for this whole time, at a very affordable price point and with no BS like premium fuel, lack of reliability etc. I ended up buying it right there and actually also ended up buying an 5 year/100,000km extended warranty (bumper to bumper, covers EVERYTHING except obviously regular maintenance like breaks and oil changes) for an extra $3200. I know they're supposed to be reliable but if something does go wrong they are expensive to fix and its an 8 year old car so who knows. So basically now I get to have a luxury car that drives like brand new, with regular fuel costs, and I have ZERO worries about repairs for the next 5 years, all for under 30k CAD (so like just over 20k USD). I know an LS is probably quite a bit better still (I've never driven one, but I would love to) but I feel like when it comes to bang for your buck, this really is it for people who want a big, smooth, luxury cruisers without the money stress.
@@goahead3995 Crazy high here as well and I personally don't think they'll ever drop back down. If it was just car prices that raised over the past two years because of the microchip issues then I'd have some hope, but virtually everything has gone up in price here lately so I think these car prices along with everything else are just the new norm
@MrHugePlaya it's an es350 so not a hybrid. The 2021 hybrid I test drove felt like it lacked torque so it just felt weird to me but the better fuel economy would definitely be nice so it really just comes down to what you value more
Heard similar before and I wonder…why is it “significantly cheaper” ? It doesn’t make sense I’m looking at a 2015 300h at Lexus dealer and it’s priced around KBB trade in number
Just purchased a 2013 es300h to replace my stolen turbo sonata, and I couldn't be happier. Drives so smooth, it can be whisper quiet, but can also put out a pretty decent engine sound and picks up when it needs to. Planning to run this thing into the ground 👌
I bought a certified 2018 ES350 with 43k miles. The engine and transmission are super smooth and solid. The suspension rattles at slow speed. Their repair lasted about 3 weeks before the issue started again. The tech is also dated. Road and wind noise is not great. The ride is bad on rough roads. However, if you’re cruising on a smooth highway, it is hard to beat.
Bought my 2015 ES300h with 104k on it. I now have 237k and couldnt be happier. I have only replaced brakes and tires. The hybrid battery is still going strong
I have a 2017 - one of the nicest and most reliable cars in the road. Zero problems, punches way way above it's price point. I don't think you can find a better car for the price. Natural aspirated V6 is not very fast, but it does it's job and is bullet proof. Everyone that gets into the car is shocked at how nice the interior is.

I owned a 2019 Toyota Camry and was so impressed with the quality and reliability I ended up trading it in last year for a 2017 Lexus ES350 and could not be happier! I was missing some options including blind spot monitor and even though I traded the Camry for a 2 year older car I went from over 60k miles down to 25k. I already have 51k miles on my Lexus and it is a very comfortable and great looking car. I recommend it to anyone!

I bought a 2015 ES 350 for $12.4k about 2 years ago. Only had around 80k miles and a clean title. Was definitely a steal. I’ve had no issues and now have 112k miles. Taken it on a few road trips, with no issues. I keep it in sport mode, only because it feels a little more responsive and I like the tighter steering - while it has good straight line speed and a smooth, solid V6, it’s unfortunately not going to be super sporty if that’s what someone is looking for. I plan on driving it to 200k as a daily and will likely get another lexus next (probably a GX)

Great review! I’ve owned my 2018 ES 300h for about 2 yrs now. Absolutely no problems ever. It does everything it’s supposed to do including the remote starter which I literally just learned to do. It’s a smooth ride and comfortable to boot. For a hybrid it doesn’t get the mileage I’d anticipated but it’s so much better than my 06 4Runner 😂. I’d recommend it if you travel a lot as I do.
The interior looks exactly like the Lexus GS. No wonder the GS was phased out. I do like our 2013 GS F Sport though. My wife really likes it. She says she will drive it for the foreseeable future.
I own a 2016 GS350 F-Sport, driven the ES a few times. The GS is a MUCH better car than the ES IMO. Much more fun to drive with firmer ride & seats, but still comfortable. The GS has nicer materials as well as a much bigger screen. More expensive than the ES yes, but worth it! RWD > FWD. I love how I see very few GS's on the road compared to the ES where I see plenty.
Getting the 19 ultra luxury at 9 am. Can’t wait, I love the 6 generation. But I wanted the car to look slightly more modern so I decided on 7 generation. Both are great.
Happy New Year Kevin. Styling of the 2013-2018 is not my favourite. The 2019-Current ES is the best ever and will be the most sought after ES in the future. For 2013-2018 I'd go with the Acura TLX.
I bought a 2014 ES350 in 2020, a few months before used car prices went bonkers. Shopped it against the Charger/300/Challenger, anything in my budget($20,000) that was V8 had a ton of miles or "a story" about it being wrecked, modded/beat on/cosmetically looked beat. Thought about a V6 Charger or 300, but the ES350 was the better deal IMO. More room inside/in the trunk, better gas mileage(significantly even vs the V6 Chryslers), faster, lighter, nicer interior, handled better, better visibility. Only thing the Chryslers did better was a good bit more sound insulation. Also I don't really worry about a big repair bill with the Lexus, but then I thought the Chryslers would be reliable enough since I only drive 7-8k miles a year, it would take A WHILE before I cranked over 100k and started having problems.
Yea if you’re buying a V6 powered car going with a Japanese vehicle is def the best way to go V8s are where the American cars shine and that’s where the value is with those cars
Got my 2013 ES 300h almost 2 years ago, I've got K&N filters, and did some weight reduction, but aside from that it is completely stock. I know most folks average around 36 MPG in this car, I used to do around 37, but if you are able to drive lightly on the throttle and coast on the EV motor whenever you can (past midnight is the best time to do this because of low traffic and lowest temps), you can go much higher than 40, currently I'm at almost 48 MPG, which is almost 20% higher than the official rated city MPG!
GS just way better if you care about fun driving. Higher compression and octane makes it so much quicker another 40HP. Sounds nice too😂 just as compfy as the ES, drives just as well, but more responsive and way better performance for handling and power. Much sportier and you get a lot more plus it cost just about the same nowadays as the ES350. Get the GS 350!
Would love to see a similar video detailing the GS from the same generation. Trying to decide between the GS and ES since they are priced very similarly now a days.
I have 2018 I bought brand new. I have put 138k on it I love the car and will definitely buy another. only maintenance is old change , tires and breaks
I test drove a 2017 es350 recently and I was so surprised at the amount of wind noise in that car. I remember watching a review of yours on one but I thought no way it could be that bad... it was.
Very informative video, thanks! My only dislikes, is the grill and the infotainment system. The grill just bores me to death. The entire make of the car just comes off for an older driver (which I am) but I like some personality and this model shows none but the numbers and reliability of Lexus never have let anyone short.
2013 300h, 230k unbelievable. Only failure to date is tire pressure monitor sensor, ventilated seat and sunroof seal. Everything else has been maintenance. Religious maintenance. Can’t wait to see how long it lasts. Shooting for 500k 🤞🙏
I just got an email from the fleet manager in my area! This week I’m getting a Audi A3 then the next cars they have are a Tundra TRD Pro, Tacoma, and 2023 Mazda CX-5 so that’s what you can expect in the coming weeks. They also have other cars coming in. In the meantime, I will be posting another throwback video featuring the Infiniti G35
My only issue with this car is the leather on the seats and steering wheel are too soft and wrinkle much faster than any other car ive owned. I condition them all the time but theres nothing you can do.
Today' ES model here in France starts at about 56.000 euros ( lowest trim).... A highly spec one can cost up to 78.000 euros..... Almost twice the price of this earlier model when it was new.... This earlier model was a jewel of a car at a price really affordable for many more to enjoy.... Today you really need to be wealthy to buy a new ES and this is the reason for this beauty in new version just doesn't sell and its sales here would very likely be cancelled . Sad
@@MeynMotorGroup well , here most of the population are still fans of older diesels ,apparently, ( Peugeot and Citroen, French car makers, made and sold quite a lot of these during the years....from which lots were diesels from times Diesel was not yet considered the ennemy of the planet 😄 )..... in big cities like Paris there are many electric and hybrid cars, ... Most electric ones are Renault models -- Renault invested huge money into electric cars and being a mostly state-owned company, there is a lot of publicity for electric cars lately).... And almost all taxi and Uber cars in Paris are Toyota and Lexus hybrids In fact, the Lexus ES, is often named here "The favourite car for the Paris taxi driver" .... If you see one, the chance is that it's most likely black and it's a taxi ...😆 They are known for their incredible fuel economy and reliability and most premium taxi drivers got read of E class Mercedes in favour of Lexus ES Companies like taxi providers can afford to buy them as fleet vehicles at a good discount.... Unfortunately , for individual civilians, this car is too expensive to be affordable... That is why there are only a few dozen for sale as second hand in the whole country .. I personally love the Lexus ES... It's the most ( and maybe only) reliable luxury vehicle, that , being so rare here, makes people turn heads after it.. without being too overpowerful noisy and shouty like some german luxury brands, the ES is luxury with common sense, like economical comfortable ride without the fear something might break and let you stranded... All with elegant design.... A car for connaisseurs, I might say And I do intend of getting one some day after I pay my tax 😄

The ES350 is as solid as it gets. Good pick. I think Lexus deliberately let the GS die on the vine as it continually updated the ES. Didn't you call it "The Realtor Special" or something? 🤣🤣🤣 I would still go with the GS
Oh yes I do remember calling the ES the perfect car for realtors since it’s FWD and good rear leg room. Yea when most people think performance they just never think Lexus so pretty much all the performance Lexus cars just don’t sell well, most new Lexus shoppers just bought the cheaper ES since it was the same size as the GS pretty much and they just didn’t value the driving dynamics of the GS to pay up for it. Kind of like the Altima and Maxima of today most just don’t care enough about driving to justify the extra cost sadly
i just compared the stats between this and the Prius ,nearly the same car. 800cc more cylinder capacity. my thoughts are people bye that wanted a Prius but also wanted to “One Up” their neighbors. I mean a luxury car with front wheel drive and a cvt. its clear where the direction of this product was going. just makes me sad that the “Old Lexus” i grew up with is thoroughly... resting in peace
how’s it going bro i love the reviews you look like you know your stuff . i just have another opinion! what you think is worth it an Acura Tlx 2015 with 54k or a Lexus 350 2013 with 59k. i currently own an Acura ilx but it’s to small for me looking for something bigger
So the TLX is way more fun to drive but the ES has a much nicer interior and probably better reliability just depends on what you value more. Both are pretty good and offer great interior space

@@killerXover707 so used car prices still suck but will most likely drop if you wait a few months (nobody knows for sure of course) and although I like leasing, it’s become very expensive expensive to lease cars nowadays as well due to interest rates hikes so the days of $400 a month BMW i8s are officially over and are not coming back. You can maybe try and get a CPO ES like in this video or try to lease a 2022 RX if AutoCompanion still offers them since that was the cheapest Lexus to lease for a while

Thanks for sharing this with us!
You mentioned every car in km, so you live in Canada. How are the prices there for used cars?
Here in the US. Still crazy high.
It doesn’t make sense
I’m looking at a 2015 300h at Lexus dealer and it’s priced around KBB trade in number
Just purchased a 2013 es300h to replace my stolen turbo sonata, and I couldn't be happier. Drives so smooth, it can be whisper quiet, but can also put out a pretty decent engine sound and picks up when it needs to. Planning to run this thing into the ground 👌
No comparison to that POS Hyundai
I’m buying a 2013 300h tomorrow- 89k miles- 1 owner- getting it from carmax-
I'm going to look at a 2014 es350 tomorrow! One owner, clean title, 54k miles for $18500. Hoping it's great!
Thanks for sharing!
i agree these were priced very well for the class especially when you got the best reliability… the value proposition was extraordinary
For sure!
Not fast compared to what though? Had a 2018 Honda Accord Touring v4 with turbos and I find my 2016 Lexus v6 heavier in weight but nearly as fast.
@@DB-hz2os true. I'm used to V8s in the LS or our XJ Jag so not fast compared to those. :)
I bought a 2016 luxury package es350 used 2 years ago i almost bought a gs and a ls 460 but chose this one this car came with the 18 inch wheels this car has been so great so far the vin says built in Japan and its very quiet inside the car driving iv done regular maintenance and just hit over 100 k parts are not extremely pricey so far from what iv seen im a tech and do my own work. I drove a newer es and honestly like the 2016 alot more due to having a great 6 speed trans they just shift so smoth
I own a 2014 ES. best car I've ever owned
Drives like butter , feels like you’re floating on smooth surfaces, mines a 2015 Ultra luxury version, DVD player ML , usb flash perforated seats HEated /cooled dual climate control , rear shades Auto Sensors wipers , pedestrian , blind spots/ panoramic , there’s so much room in the back no hump / you could put a mini fridge in there with a 12 volt outlet that comes in the back cabin , Would like to do those interior led upgrades
Love the Lexus ES, such a great and reliable car
I owned a 2019 Toyota Camry and was so impressed with the quality and reliability I ended up trading it in last year for a 2017 Lexus ES350 and could not be happier! I was missing some options including blind spot monitor and even though I traded the Camry for a 2 year older car I went from over 60k miles down to 25k. I already have 51k miles on my Lexus and it is a very comfortable and great looking car. I recommend it to anyone!
Does the BSM come with RCTA?
@@amrita3000 yes on the 2017 ES350 and I love it! Both blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert was missing from my 2019 Camry LE
My husband purchased a 2015 crafted line fully loaded white with black rims and black accents and pano sunroof. Absolutely amazing vehicle! I drive a 2022 Cadillac ct5 and his Lexus beats the caddy in every way except tech
Wow you did very well my guy! Almost don’t believe you
@@cincinnatikid47 thanks! Was driven by a realtor and I don’t think he wanted to deal with selling/knew the market. I drove 3 hours to pick it up as I knew it was a deal!
You could probably hit 300k as well
@@nerad1994 that’s the hope!
Biggest steal of the century! How'd you find this guy selling it?
Great review! I’ve owned my 2018 ES 300h for about 2 yrs now. Absolutely no problems ever. It does everything it’s supposed to do including the remote starter which I literally just learned to do. It’s a smooth ride and comfortable to boot. For a hybrid it doesn’t get the mileage I’d anticipated but it’s so much better than my 06 4Runner 😂. I’d recommend it if you travel a lot as I do.
Lol carbon is bad
Thats where the newer models are much better. The newer toyota hybrids for larger cars are a lot more efficient
How do you like the sound system?
I bought a 2015 65k miles UL for 19k two years ago. Absolutely Love it!
Nice!
My favorite timeframe for the ES. Especially the ES 300h from this generation. Much appreciated this video.
Thanks!
Anything with a H is gay af
why is it your fav timeframe ?

Best ES color combo, gray seats with the black dash and carpet.
Got the 2016 ultra luxury and I love it
Would definitely be my used vehicle of choice but with today's car market I'm running my current vehicles till the wheels fall off.
Yea used cars are still a bad deal
Getting the 19 ultra luxury at 9 am. Can’t wait, I love the 6 generation. But I wanted the car to look slightly more modern so I decided on 7 generation. Both are great.
Happy New Year Kevin. Styling of the 2013-2018 is not my favourite. The 2019-Current ES is the best ever and will be the most sought after ES in the future. For 2013-2018 I'd go with the Acura TLX.
Happy New Years my friend, I def agree I would much rather lease a new ES300H
Yea if you’re buying a V6 powered car going with a Japanese vehicle is def the best way to go V8s are where the American cars shine and that’s where the value is with those cars
so what's the mileage of the 2014 you bought and for how much ?
I just bought 2015 ES300h 74K miles for $19K
Love my 2017 ES350... only major gripe is the car is undertired with 215/55/17s. I just fit 18x7.5" wheels with 235/45/18 tires.
How does it drive with 18s? Does it cause more road noise or take bumps harder?
@@DB-hz2os i cannot feel any difference in ride quality. Totally worth it!
What weight reduction ? I guess no spare tire
I’m buying a 2013 ES 300h tomorrow from carmax- 1 owner- 89k miles-
@@natee.4517 How much ?
@@MontyGumbyI bought it from carmax- the car is in flawless condition- $19k out the door-
GS just way better if you care about fun driving.
I would like to say that the ev mode really helps sneaking out,. Its one of the many pros of lexus hybrid,.
Would love to see a similar video detailing the GS from the same generation. Trying to decide between the GS and ES since they are priced very similarly now a days.
I’ll probably do that!
GS is a more premium car
Came to your channel for the Lexus ls 460 content, enjoy learning all about other Lexus products too 👍
Thank you my friend
Very professional reviews and very high standards of video presentations. Well done 👍 👍 👍
I am humbled by your kind words my friend thank you!
Added CarPlay to my 2014 ES. Great combination.
I have a new 22 ES350 ultra luxury and I am not disappointed I’ll tell you that.
I have 2018 I bought brand new. I have put 138k on it I love the car and will definitely buy another. only maintenance is old change , tires and breaks
Nice!
I test drove a 2017 es350 recently and I was so surprised at the amount of wind noise in that car. I remember watching a review of yours on one but I thought no way it could be that bad... it was.
What? Mine has zero wind noise. My other cars are jaguars and Lincoln so I drive church like stuff. The lexus is the most quiet.
Look at the door seals if there torn that makes a huge difference i changed door seals on my cousins bmw he said it got rid of all the wind noise
Yeah my 18 ES300h does have the wind noise but mostly just when the winds are unusually high.
That’s like buying a $2000 metal detector but wasn’t happy about the packaging it came in.
Very informative video, thanks! My only dislikes, is the grill and the infotainment system. The grill just bores me to death. The entire make of the car just comes off for an older driver (which I am) but I like some personality and this model shows none but the numbers and reliability of Lexus never have let anyone short.
Thanks for sharing!
2013 300h, 230k unbelievable. Only failure to date is tire pressure monitor sensor, ventilated seat and sunroof seal. Everything else has been maintenance. Religious maintenance. Can’t wait to see how long it lasts. Shooting for 500k 🤞🙏
ES is better choice in midsize luxury segment because it excels in what it designed to do.
Nice!
In another video you ..a GS one.. you warned about the Mark Levinson stereo being prone to burning out.. can you expand on that?
How can I identify the ML system when shopping from my phone looking at pictures?
look at a picture of the cd player near the hvac controls. Zoom in and it should say Mark Levinson near the cd player area
The writing can also be found on a small plaque on the upper deck of the rear subwoofer.
The rear doors will have 2 speakers instead of one:)
Thank you for mentioning the added sound buffering added in 2016. Was it continued in 2017 and 2018? I’m looking for a really quiet car.
Great review, ty sir! What vehicles do you have lined up for us the next few months?
I just got an email from the fleet manager in my area! This week I’m getting a Audi A3 then the next cars they have are a Tundra TRD Pro, Tacoma, and 2023 Mazda CX-5 so that’s what you can expect in the coming weeks. They also have other cars coming in. In the meantime, I will be posting another throwback video featuring the Infiniti G35
Love your work.
I appreciate that my friend
Sad
Oh wow thank you for sharing this with us. What is a commonly driven car in France that people really like?
@@MeynMotorGroup well , here most of the population are still fans of older diesels ,apparently, ( Peugeot and Citroen, French car makers, made and sold quite a lot of these during the years....from which lots were diesels from times Diesel was not yet considered the ennemy of the planet 😄 )..... in big cities like Paris there are many electric and hybrid cars, ... Most electric ones are Renault models -- Renault invested huge money into electric cars and being a mostly state-owned company, there is a lot of publicity for electric cars lately).... And almost all taxi and Uber cars in Paris are Toyota and Lexus hybrids
In fact, the Lexus ES, is often named here "The favourite car for the Paris taxi driver" .... If you see one, the chance is that it's most likely black and it's a taxi ...😆
They are known for their incredible fuel economy and reliability and most premium taxi drivers got read of E class Mercedes in favour of Lexus ES
Companies like taxi providers can afford to buy them as fleet vehicles at a good discount....
A car for connaisseurs, I might say
And I do intend of getting one some day after I pay my tax 😄

Not sure where you got that from but 17 mpg 😂😂😂 absolutely not nice try though lol
I have 2014 ES350, nice and a smooth practical car, but I have some road noise. Anyone know why or have a solution?
Hmmm.......it would help your presentation a *_lot_* if you would *coordinate your camera shots with your narration,* rather than the two being on entirely different trajectories.
i.e. Show what you're talking about.
The ES350 is as solid as it gets. Good pick. I think Lexus deliberately let the GS die on the vine as it continually updated the ES. Didn't you call it "The Realtor Special" or something? 🤣🤣🤣
I would still go with the GS
Oh yes I do remember calling the ES the perfect car for realtors since it’s FWD and good rear leg room. Yea when most people think performance they just never think Lexus so pretty much all the performance Lexus cars just don’t sell well, most new Lexus shoppers just bought the cheaper ES since it was the same size as the GS pretty much and they just didn’t value the driving dynamics of the GS to pay up for it. Kind of like the Altima and Maxima of today most just don’t care enough about driving to justify the extra cost sadly
Love my 2023 ES350
i just compared the stats between this and the Prius ,nearly the same car.
Nice!
Prius is substandard to this by a long shot!
how’s it going bro i love the reviews you look like you know your stuff . i just have another opinion! what you think is worth it an Acura Tlx 2015 with 54k or a Lexus 350 2013 with 59k. i currently own an Acura ilx but it’s to small for me looking for something bigger
So the TLX is way more fun to drive but the ES has a much nicer interior and probably better reliability just depends on what you value more. Both are pretty good and offer great interior space
@@MeynMotorGroup ok thanks bro i appreciate it. you think 119k on a Tlx 2015 tec pack to much mileage ?

Sup bro. Do you think the newer gen ES will be like this in 5+ years? The ones from 2019-current. I just can’t justify buying new, but I do like that gem better than the one in the video

@@MeynMotorGroup thanks for the reply. I’m probably gonna get some sort of Lexus next and drive it to the ground. What should the move be knowing that you think
You can maybe try and get a CPO ES like in this video or try to lease a 2022 RX if AutoCompanion still offers them since that was the cheapest Lexus to lease for a while
Great used vehicle😊
I can't believe these are $18,000 in my area with 80,000 miles on them for a 2014

Hey great review pinpointing ALL the notable improvements over the previous CAMRY based generation. Pertinent question for you ?!? My 2013 ES was built in Japan. Were the subsequent model years leading up to 2018 still manufactured in Japan. The LEXUS nameplate has superior build quality but the vehicles assembled in Japan are still a notch or two ^above^ their U.S. built cars. This confirmed by Y-Ter Scotty Kilmer. Not sure my friend Lexus never disclosed anything regarding where the car is made
The VIN will tell you where it's made. If it starts with a "J" it was made in Japan. If its a 1, 4, or 5 = USA, 2= Canada, 3= Mexico
