The only set of car heads I ported were the stock cast-iron ones off a 302 with such a big air injection humps in the exhaust ports that you couldn't stick your thumb through them! When Eric started of a small-block ford video about no porting cast-iron heads, I smiled, remembering the countless hours I spent on those heads! Its just been AFR aluminum heads since then😆
I've had the same problem earlier this year with the driveshaft that came from summit.Appreciated their quickness to resend the parts and it too happened to need a visual check. Got sent 2 ford driveshafts for a fox body mustang and eventually was sent 1 for a 3rd gen camaro. All in all, they were able to make it right and in the end I just had to send back the wrong driveshafts with a prepaid postage.
I’m definitely going to donate to this challenge and every other challenge that you do, but, I’m going to wait until maybe a week or two before the challenge to donate. Thanks again Eric for all your hard work and dedication and also for explaining how the challenge works.
So the first heads I ever ported were the 291 camels, 1.94/1.50, did alot of bowl work, and fully ported the exhaust. Came to realize that velocity was important, especially for the street. Glad I didn’t touch the int runners, the engine absolutely screamed.
Awesome! Man I’m glad I can work on my own stuff, it’s getting out of control. 200$ labor rates! I just had y to replace the alternator on the wife’s car, Little Kia, 200$ just for an alternator. I remember the import ones were 75$ at advance, lol.
@12:32 Question, can you remove material from the combustion chamber around the valve to eliminate the shrouding issue? Ls823 heads have this issue with the exhaust valves and I’ve wonder if that would work. I understand it’s gonna add CC and lower compression, but would it help with the exhaust flow and eliminate the shrouding issue?
I can’t remember how many of those novas I cut up in the late-late 90’s for the skins of my street stock. It was a lot. In the 80’s and early 90’s they where an extremely popular body style in dirt track racing. They looked really good with raked body line and chopped roofs. Only used the outer skins and bumpers. I had massive piles of outer skins, hoods and chrome. Even in the late 90’s early 2ks they just where not desired body style for collectors and other performance like the other body style. They where a dime a dozen. I really wish that I saved a few. But then agin I probably cut it apart and build a retro throwback dirt car with it. I may have some authentic badges laying around. I Used to have coffee cans full of them.
I wish I could donate I did last time I think I only did $20 but yeah I lost my job at Napa no joke 6 people got let go because of down sizing and less work to do. But yeah good luck to the competitors at the camshaft competition and can't wait for the results. This is very cool Eric your channel should be booming but you know how people are i don't know why this is a thing but do people watch dumb videos like hey how far do I have to drop a watermelon for it to break and get millions of views vs your videos are very cool and learning how to make how on a engine and make cool engine sounds and everything and learning how to make a engine go faster. Yeah I don't know but yeah this is going to be cool

A 400-450hp car that is reliable is one hell of a bracket car to grow into as well as refine skills.
A real 400+ horse to the tire is a hell of a lot of car whether anyone will admit it or not.
