Yakuza Kiwami 1: losing an old friend who isn't what he really was. Yakuza Kiwami 2: fresh memories of that best friend who got killed by the Millennium Tower blast Yakuza 6: remembering a long-gone friend And I think Kiwami 2 is where it hits the most and even makes sense, since Nishiki died a year from the game.

In 0, Nishiki couldn't pull the trigger and said that he is useless and cant get through anything without Kiryu by his side I like how that foreshadowed Kiwami, as Nishiki`s downfall to insanity began right after Kiryu went to prison
The saddest realization I made is that in 0 Nishiki couldn't look Kiryu in the eyes while holding the gun to his head. That changed in Kiwami when he looked at his sworn brother in the eyes while giving him that last smile before pulling the trigger.
The Fortune Lady sub story literally foreshadowed all the events that will happen in the other yakuza games except for like a dragon ig (sorry if my grammar is bad)
I love how despite the goofines of the karaoke scenes, this song seriously recontextualizes nishiki and kiryu's relationship. you feel their connection through this song, and i cant help but tear up everytime i listen.
I just noticed it, but in the childhood photo, Kiryu has a pink undershirt and Nishiki has a red one, while Kazama-san has their black jacket, as well as a shirt and tie that is exactly the colors they're wearing. Almost like the game is saying that Kiryu and Nishiki are both reflections of him and take after certain attributes. Makes this even more tragic :(
Its even worse how kazama neglected nishiki throughout kiwami..I understand it was a shitload of problems but kazama basically did nothijg to stop nishiki from crumbling and turning evil

It's in both Like a Dragon Garden and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, that's 14 and 18 years after the 10 Billion Yen Incident, Tonight even got an updated Cinematic then that makes it a montage of slow moving cutscenes probably to show that Kiryu cherishes and reminiscing about those memories more now that he's alone and later now that he's also dying of cancer.
Thank you! Beautiful! Made me cry. One reason is because my adopted son thought to send this to me . That on his free time, he cares enough to actually THINK of ME is a blessing to behold. He’s precious & so special. Too old for his young years. 😢But I love him & pray for him daily. I can see his future and once he’s ready to grab for his dreams he’ll soar to the heavens!!!❤
My brother was diagnosed with Schizophrenia he started becoming a different person, and none of us knew why. We went from being best friends to more distant brothers. I was scared of what was happening to him, to be honest. One of our last conversations was that he was sorry for how our childhood went. It has stuck in my head for a while. He took his own life a few months later, and I always thought to myself, what if I could have done something different. I have been playing Yakuza for the first time since it happened, and this has stuck with me. I wish I could've shared this series with him to bond one last time before he left.
