Easily my favourite 200e performance on youtube, and that's saying something. Those oscillators sing, and this shows how musical the system is, without the need for anything more than a few modules.
If im not mistaken, didnt Isao Tomita do something similar to this when he did the electronic version of Gustav Holst’s The Planets? B/c this is amazing. My favorite type of music, tbh
Tomita was precise, not improvising. He also used considerably more specific gear than this new fly swatter spray can mess. And btw TURN OFF THE DAMN REVERB AND DELAYS maybe someone could actually hear the synth instead of this wash of debris
Hey Steve, I'm not a Buchla owner, but from watching this video, it seems arpeggio triggers when more than one pressure point is touched and doesn't activate if only one plate is touched. Is that correct? FAscinated by the control of the arpeggios in this piece.
C Nich0lls: Yes, you’re correct. However, it’s all in the programming as every key (and groups of keys) can be al programmed individually assigned to perform different functions. It’s one of the visionary qualities that make this instrument so visionary and expressive.
Thanks for the reply, Steve. The 200e is a fascinating instrument and Don's controller designs are a work of beauty. It's a thoughtful way to set up the controller, so nice job. Enjoy this piece, especially the poetic interaction between human and machine.
@@stevehorelick But not something that would fit the rack, right? I'm a Buchla newbie and try to understand which tools are available in this format. Thanks for your comments :)
Seekthetruth3000 As configured in this Skylab case it's about $15k. It does have a MIDI input (if that's what you mean by regular). The "kbd" I'm using in this video is the Buchla 223e. It's ultimately more configurable than a "regular" kbd. :)
Definitely definitely getting a Skylab. It's being put together as I type this. Yay!
Impressive and beautiful. A Buchla definitively delivers unique soundscapes.
I would kill for a patch breakdown of this. It's fantastic.

Great!
Nice one!
Вопрос;! А как записывали и делали финальный мастер - трек?какой диапазон частот должен быть чтобы получить такую финальную запись?
Sweet!
Almost like a raga of some sort. Very cool

Definitely maybe getting a Skylab.
at least someone who PLAYS Buchla!
Don't.
don't yu think?
Great performance! One question: where is the delay coming from? Is it part of the Skylab?
beatsbykabuki I use Logic Pro X to process and mix in real time.
@@stevehorelick Ah, I understand. I wonder why there is no delay/reverb module available for the 200e?
beatsbykabuki there are so many 3rd party options for that!

beatsbykabuki nothing authentically Buchla. Use your laptop, its the best pedalboard ever created!
Cool! This would be fun to try out. Probably never be able to afford 15k for one though unless I win the lottery or someone gifts one to me.
How much does this synth cost and is it possible to hook it up to a keyboard?

This isn’t Johnny Cash
Very nice, much too short though....=)
TheSynthZone - thanks... I'm workshops by on some longer "suites" now!
OMg
Total shite, copying others and passing it off as your own, wanker
