My hat to Bhutan for having this ambitious goal in mind. I must point out that even the some of most environmental friendly countries in the world such as Germany or Norway have not being able to make it work to the same degree. In addition, it will be very expensive. Sri Lanka had tried to be an all organic food nation and that policy really back fired on it.

The most beautiful of Bhutan, for me, are the children. They are pure, like a diamond. Their eyes shine and have the bright of pure beings. they are carried on the backs of their happy mothers with pride and naturally. Many young bhutanese people migrate for a simple opportuity of to live like 'west' people. The goverment, as in many (all) others countries in the world, is the same: they live in his own world of rules, tax, and socialist ideology, without working for the people
@@NandodiazG I need to remind you that their citizens only got access to the internet around the 2000s and were pretty isolated. Free education is provided by the state, so of course, they will obey their ‘king.’ Nearly every reign is called a modernized monarchy because each ruler makes a tiny bit of change, but the country remains poor. It’s like asking a North Korean peasant if Kim Jong-un is a good leader-they would say he is good compared to past leaders because they are so uneducated about the outside world and politics. If you rule over uneducated people with no chance to improve themselves, it’s easy to be the richest person in the country.
Bhutan have ppp per capita even similar to south africa, still better than many asian countries while preserving its culture and environment. No overwork, perfect work life balance, less stress A human should think about himself too sometimes than rather thinking as whole nation to progress fast like korea where your future generation could either barely sustian or die.
Bhutan doesn’t need massive project, focus on infrastructure development and ease tourism your small country and population will benefit from it not propaganda of happiness alone.
When did Bhutan engage in happiness propaganda? Gross National Happiness is our socioeconomic development philosophy, which helps us balance material development with spiritual development---underpinned by good governance. We do not impose GNH on anybody---and to say that Bhutan is in the business of happiness propaganda is very misleading and rude. And how do you know that Bhutan does not need massive project? Have you even been to Bhutan and studied Bhutan's socioeconomic development, current challenges, future opportunities, and potential?
Happiness comes when people have access to pretty much everything like Norway & Denmark, more than 50% of people from Bhutan has never left the country and hasn’t seen what’s outside world like in terms of accessibility and if not that then why would the young generation wants to get out of country especially for Australia?
I wish the Doc makers would give some facts like how much would a project like this will cost ? How long will it take to build it if they got 100% funding.
They speak very food English! Hope Bhutan can develop into a country which can balance GDP and happiness. It will take years and years. The people must be trained to accept some capitalism too.
To the leaders and my fellow citizens never give up on the possibilities of greater future ahead of our new generation, as it’s all depends on how we react and think about our future. Only if we follow one plan, it will work. Please stay positive and react positively
The Bhutan Megacity project will be difficult to pull off. It will become a white elephant. Plane tickets for the Royal Bhutan Airline is expensive. Accommodation is also not cheap. So only the rich can afford it. But why should they go there for their retreat? Can they get enlightenment faster?? The only thing enjoyable in Bhutan is climbing up to the Tiger Nest Temple. Thailand is already quite well established for Buddhist retreats and will definitely be cheaper.
To compete effectively as a mindfulness centre, cost for tourists have to come down. And you need to work with India and/or China for better overland connections. Having to fly in among the cliffs is crazy and number of flights coming in will be restricted.
But you definitely need to restrict tourist movement from the Mindfulness Megacity. The transport infrastructure in the country cannot support mass tourism. Accidents are bound to happen on the narrow mountain cliff roads; with disastrous consequences.
There are already plenty of established retreats in Thailand. It will not be easy for this project to succeed. I don't see anything special it has to offer.
Every country is special in its own way. It depends how you present it . Thailand being popular retreat hasn't Stopped Bali , Nepal , Maldives , Switzerland being parallel retreat destination

Bhutan has a population of only 1 million. So they can afford to be all organic.

Beautiful documentary! Nicely presented.
The goverment, as in many (all) others countries in the world, is the same: they live in his own world of rules, tax, and socialist ideology, without working for the people
They are proud of their kings, and wallpaper the walls with their pictures. They are handsome indeed, and they believe in them.

I want to visit Bhutan as a pilgrim but 200 USD per day is very expensive for me.

I agree with your points buddy
There are already plenty of established retreats in Thailand. It will not be easy for this project to succeed. I don't see anything special it has to offer.
What’s special is its belief and we believe and will succeed
