Warning from a US citizen, democracy is good, capitalism is not as good. Capitalism has poisoned a lot of Americans to care more about money than our land or people, and the more wealth some have it seems that’s all they want. Hold tight to your cultural heritage as you modernize and keep your values. Your country seems beautiful and so well run with the health and education and spiritual life of all being important - I hope it remains this way and that you do not have to leave any of these traits behind as you move forward with technology.

i visited bhutan more than 5 years ago, part of its charm is the isolation and focusing on living itself. By changing direction to being economy driven will be like 180 degree shift for them. And its too ambitious to be thinking of building metropolitan city without foreign aid like China. When i was there, not even half the country has proper tar road, half of my journey was bouncing around in the car on dirt road.

Bhutan has No choice. It must diversify its economy. It cannot lose 10% of its population, most of them young and well educated without collapsing.
So well done Bhutan. I believe Bhutan can succeed. It’s relatively uncorrupt society and has grown its GDP per capita is about USD3,000 which is $1000 more than India

One of the fascinating countries I ever visited. I went there 2 years ago and the guide also told me about his sister who used to work as a hotel manager and moved to Australia and now works there as a cleaning lady but got higher salary. From what they told me, Bhutanese people have a good relationship with Australia because when Covid hit they didn’t fly away to escape but chose to stay and work (which helped the society function).

Their eyes shine and have the bright of pure beings. they are carried on the backs of their happy mothers with pride and naturally. Many young bhutanese people migrate for a simple opportuity of to live like 'west' people. The goverment, as in many (all) others countries in the world, is the same: they live in his own world of rules, tax, and socialist ideology, without working for the people

Free education is provided by the state, so of course, they will obey their ‘king.’ Nearly every reign is called a modernized monarchy because each ruler makes a tiny bit of change, but the country remains poor. It’s like asking a North Korean peasant if Kim Jong-un is a good leader-they would say he is good compared to past leaders because they are so uneducated about the outside world and politics. If you rule over uneducated people with no chance to improve themselves, it’s easy to be the richest person in the country.

It's similar to Tibetan, Burmese, Meitei and Kuki-Chin

Thank of a marriage. You would have to give some of yourself away, and to adopt some part of the other party as your own. It goes for both parties of course. You cannot have what modern lifestyle can offer without giving away some of your ideals. Where the balance is? It would be a "suck it and see", or "trial and error" approach.
Because Bhutan has been able to shield itself from outside influence, it really doesn't have a role model to follow. In other words, it doesn't have the foundation for what is to be done. I think Bhutan does suffer from the same dilemmas many Pacific Islands are facing...the economy of scale and isolation.
It doesn't have large enough population to sustain a strong economy. Sadly, a sustainable economy would invariably have some form of industry. Bhutan doesn't have a technology based industry except tourism. That is over-dependence on a single industry as proven by the recent pandemic crisis.
Another dilemma Bhutan is facing is accessibly. While its isolation is a plus in many ways, it is also a curse and a burden on the country obviously. This is the same with the Pacific Islands. Boat transportation is almost the ONLY viable means to travel. Imagine the impacts of a serious cyclones.
Maybe America can come to the aid of Bhutan ? 😀
