I am not in the "van life" and still, it was so satisfying to watch a true craftsman perform the job correctly! DD
Great work! One note, I wouldn't recommend red locktite in this application. Maybe blue. Red is very permanent, and therefore I find very few times that it's really the right answer. You were so careful not to damage the plastic plugs, but if you ever want to re-insert them, you'll need to get that locktite to break first!
My thought as well. I accidentally used some red on some outdoor metal and wood slat chairs I refinished..when I went to refinish the wood again...well...the bolts were stuck..LOL I had to refinish them in place. Learned my lesson then.
I just love the Woby Design way of doing things, it's always the right way and the best. That is your strength, thinking about the issue and solving it, its what makes your videos the best and something we always are looking forward to coming back to. When your happy and give the Wooooooo, we are happy too. Thanks for all your content :)
Angrily correcting dozens of DIYers, hahaha.
I wouldn't recommend the acetone... Use an oil based adhesive remover instead
Is it because it could damage the paint?
@@pazz2518 I think so; at least it will remove some of the clear coat.
@@eggsngritstn Thanks for the info, I didn't know that!
@@pazz2518 Acetone *can* damage clear coat and paint if it's left on and allowed to dry/absorb into it. The fact that he uses a small amount and doesn't just leave a puddle of it there to dry, means it shouldn't be a problem though. That said, it's still a good idea to use something like distilled vinegar, or a product like Goo Gone or Goof Off, instead of acetone.
1:57 ... especially if you have a sweet mani you don’t want to ruin!
Great use of common sense and heat to remove the plug Ben .Great 👍update on the build
🤙WOBY KNOWS🤙🙏
I like the skateboard designs i have nothing with fans good or bad jobs
This video was awesome thanks for sharing
i like the way youve removed the grommets but if the roof rack needs replacing theyd be no access to the nuts without having to remove the ceiling. i think rivuts will be a better choice for what i want. thanks for the vid.
Work smarter, not harder. Nicely done.
work smarter not harder Bravo!!!
I really admire your van and your skills.
If this works for me you are a legend ❤
Smart idea to use the heat gun
I don't even own a van right now and this video makes me wanna go "WOOOO!"
Take the time and do it right. Nice work.
I feel incomplete, I did not get a WOOOOOOoooo at the end.
"If you can't find the right tool in this garage Mr Arizona, you don't belong near a car."
Great video, super entertaining. Perfect rail intall! btw-Heat guns are super useful. Mahalo for sharing! : )
I like this format the best, nice job!
as overkill is my go to......I would have added silicone to the bolt entry of the track. Hope it doesn't leak.
I would of put silicon around the bolts, to make sure no water leaks in
I'm not sure the average DIY can person has 10% your crafting/making skill. Part of it, is looking at the problem and breaking down the best way to do something, grabbing the heat gun is a perfect example of this
I'd suggest to change the title to smth like How to PROPERLY remove the plugs on the roof of your van. So people could start to do it right
Ya...I'd suggest something like:
STOP!!! Van Conversion - KNOW BEFORE YOU BLOW. (Do it right from go.)
😄
@@RevdUp.Art.Fotografer nice! I like yours!
I think I would not have removed the adhesive and left it in place as a secondary protection from leaks or added some silicone around the holes nobody wants water leaks but I did like how you showed there's and easier way to remove the roof plugs
Nice video! How big are the holes left over?
I just wish more people did quality research before uploading shit to UA-cam. Great video. Loving this van. Thanks for sharing.
Great video!!! Attention to detail to the max!!!
Don't make it look easy! The other people will be h8n on you! LOL! And you might wanna scrape the adhesive off, not scrap.
Great video, bro! Looking forward to seeing more!
Its amazing how many diy youtube videos are made by people who have no idea what they're doing.
OooO Benny I dont recommend use acetone, it has stripping capabilities and older paint wont handle it like your newer one. and you got to be quick with getting it on then properly wiping it off. Use eucalyptus or tea tree oil!! Its the best for glues on paint. Otherwise iso alcohol works ok. All 3 better than acetone.
It’s that easy 👊
Another talented van builder is Humble Road UA-cam channel. He builds beautiful but functional and repairable van conversions 👍
Where's your WOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Ben? COME ON!!
Do you have the link where you bought your roof rails. I cannot find them on amazon. Thkx
Why are you always smarter than others
Are plywood wardrobes good?
What makes you think that everyone has a heat gun?
👍
It is perpetually both amazing and depressing to me that people can’t do even the most basic of research to find the right tools for the job.
but where are the skateboards?
não teve o gritinho no final 😢
you're not my dad - don't tell me what to do
Khaby Lame would be proud...lol
Exactly who I thought of while watching!
Oh so you'll put rails on the van but not the stairs 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Never use acetone on your cars paint
Please explain, I’d like to know why
@@WobyDesign acetone dissolves paint but typically only if you leave it in contact for a prolonged time. still, some isopropyl alcohol would be a safer choice.
yes, be very careful with Acetone, it is a solvent for most paints and clearcoats. In fact nail polish is similar to paints and acetone is used for that as well
Acetone takes off your clear coat right away. It is very strong. IPA is much safer choice.
Do you need to wear gloves when using acetone? acetone is nail polish remover...
So did the owner of the Sprinter know you were 'helping' them when they dropped their van off for an oil change?
😉 jk....As always, nice vid.
