Good on you for warning people about the RetroEngine Sigma; I did some research after I had ordered one, realized I could do it on my own, bought a Raspberry Pi 3 and got it set up with the help of your videos and then promptly cancelled my order.
I hope that soon appear one of the tiny computers with a dual core of A73. The cost to make would be the same as a quad core of A53 and it would run N64 emulator with no problem
ETA, I was one of the backers of the Sigma, way before I built my RetroPie setup (plan to gift the Sigma once I receive it). I emailed the creators of the Sigma on what mobo they are using, and in a few sentences, was told it was some type of proprietary hybrid board (don't want to quote them in case they are trolling this post).
I just realized I could get this for $18 with free shipping. Damn it looks like a really really really nice deal if you're just gonna do something like this.
ETA PRIME Been messing around with Batocera Linux on an older Dell desktop per your awesome video. Would like to put in a video and sound card and play movies off it. Work and 3 kids keeping me busy though.
hi ETA , great job. live ur videos there are always entertaining as well as informative. keep up the good work. ohh.. and btw can u do a small video on Orange Pi plus 2? i would really appreciate it. thanks
I did a video ages ago about The RetroEngine Sigma (cheapness of the board, performance of more recent consoles etc) and was DOGPILED, heck I even got a comment from the actual manufacturer of the RESigma
Have one of these boards sitting in a drawer. Might have to put it to work. I want to build a portable... do you think it'd be a much better option than the RasPi Zero?
Fun thing that I commented about the retro engine on their facebook page about this exact thing a few weeks back. Fun that you brought it to people's attention, since it's a massive rip off.
HI How is the Orange Pi 2 Plus which is the fastest and also if this the latest... Looking to get N64 Running better on a maker board or single board unit and your channel seems to be the best but cant find out which is best :-(
when you buy a board plus the controllers, case, power adapter, sd card etc it all adds up. I doubt they are making that much profit. not to mention the costs of manufacturing what looks like a plastic injection case... and on top that that its all set up for with roms... i dont know... that price seems alright... its cost around $100 just to get everything you need to get the RPi running...
it's a lot cheaper.i've bought one but the retropie setting is in chinese... i don't know if the setting can be change or not.all of the roms are also in chinese.really need help with this...the performance are ok..
i just want to find one of these things that can handle mame like a PC. My Pi 3 is not powerful enough it has a lot of studder on games like crusing the world and speed racer. What about the Banana Pi?
Have you ever ran into any problems with controls on N64? I've tried many controllers on the raspberry for N64 and they configure fire and work fine but when I go to N64 if changes all the button layouts. I went into the config file and typed the layout in. Still the same. Also enjoy the videos. They are very helpful.
On my retrorange pi I cannot seem to locate the online updater because I want to cheat on my particular game station it shows the cheat file but no online updater some helpful tools be nice
Thank you for this video! Do you know if you can you use a PayPal account balance to pay at BangGood or does it have to be a bank account or credit card linked to that card?
Thinking of picking up the Orange Pi Prime board. Its has the Allwinner H5, Mali 450 and 2gb ram (shared with gpu) and looks to be a decent unit. The only thing Im worried about i support with RetroPie/RetrOrangePi, I've looked on the site and as its quite a new board and im unsure if its supported yet. Has anyone any experience with the Orange Prime?
Cool, congrats :) try different OSes www.lakka.tv/get/linux/allwinner ...etc. ua-cam.com/video/fMzbN5LPH7Q/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Td-R_Rk2VQ4/v-deo.html Also, try some electronics, programming/coding projects, some RPi stuff can be done on OPi www.raspberrypi.org/magpi-issues ua-cam.com/video/LsA0LL8yn_k/v-deo.html
The SoC(CPU/GPU...etc. chip) are different. For Orange Pi you need an OS supporting AllWinner H2+, H3, H5, H6 ...etc. like Armbian, RetrOrange Pi (ROPi), Lakka , these 3 work. ( H6 support is on the way, Armbian...etc. so do not get a model with this SoC ) If you were talking about GAME/Console[S/NES, N64, PS1...etc.] ROMs, then they do work. ua-cam.com/video/iyJ5CBwhju0/v-deo.html
Yes :) But better get a powered one, if possible. ua-cam.com/video/GbSN0e2taTg/v-deo.html Or DIY=Do It Yourself, if you can :) ua-cam.com/video/z-5ly2beNkg/v-deo.html
ETA PRIME ahh worth getting just for kodi 17. when 16.1 is obsolete all those Android KitKat box owners will tear out to buy android lollipop versions at $40 +. this is a much cheaper idea.
Scott there is kodi 17 krypton preinstalled but there are some problems by control settings they work only with keyboard short key functions. i prefer preinstalled openelec kodi 16 on it that runs perfect
Marek Kompis yes on my Rasberry pi 3 I have 2 images with kodi 17. I only use keyboard anyway. my Kodi Setup is very simple. only 2 addons. exodus and specko. I was thinking future when 16.1 is eventually dropped just like kodi 15 was unsupported. I have 2 android boxes stuck on KitKat so kodi 17 won't install on them.
32GB FOR 6 TO 8 BUCKS?WTF?fake sure but a real 32gb no not even in 2017.I know where you were going but exaggerate much?show me a real 32gb for 6 to 8 bucks or quit FAKE NEWS LMAO
Good on you for warning people about the RetroEngine Sigma; I did some research after I had ordered one, realized I could do it on my own, bought a Raspberry Pi 3 and got it set up with the help of your videos and then promptly cancelled my order.
Rasbery pi3 still too slow.
The orange pi 2 plus looks really interesting. I Hope you can get your hands on one of those and make a video.
I hope that soon appear one of the tiny computers with a dual core of A73. The cost to make would be the same as a quad core of A53 and it would run N64 emulator with no problem

What about the orange pi 2 or 2E.
Have one of these boards sitting in a drawer. Might have to put it to work. I want to build a portable... do you think it'd be a much better option than the RasPi Zero?
yes it is much more powerful than the Pi zero for sure
ETA PRIME Not a ton much larger either.
Fun thing that I commented about the retro engine on their facebook page about this exact thing a few weeks back. Fun that you brought it to people's attention, since it's a massive rip off.

Thanks for the review. Can you do a review on it using Kodi? At most I run only 720p video files. Thanks!
Nice vid but is there a commodore 64 emulator on it?
it's a lot cheaper.i've bought one but the retropie setting is in chinese... i don't know if the setting can be change or not.all of the roms are also in chinese.really need help with this...the performance are ok..

Have you tried to use a Bluetooth dongle with this board yet (to use wireless controllers)?
I'm more interested in the orange pi prime and the one that has a hexacore. i'd like to see if they can do better.
+Richard Rhodes I'm waiting on the prime to arrive
Awesome! Can't wait to see how it goes.
vc tem um backup de alguma imagem do retrorane pi 4.2 pra opi lite ?
Did you ever try the orange pi plus 2?
great video would love to see more ps1
Good Morning,
I would like to know if it is possible to install the Transmission BT to use as a server torrent.
If so, could you show me a tutorial?
Hi is this good on SNES and megadrive. I have one and was planning bon SNES emulator in a SNES case

could you do a video on overclocking orange pi pc or orange pi 2e plus?
cool! for a few extra dollars there is the orange pi pc2 which gives you a better GPU/CPU and memory.
no retropie for that board yet, but I would love to see the difference once there is.
i just checked the orange pie website and there is a download for retro orange for all of the boards.
Maybe we are looking at too different pages or maybe you think the orange pi 2 and the orange pi pc 2 are the same?
David Layton they are different boards
Do you know the name of that theme for the retro orange pi? I like it
Is there any board that plays n64 perfectly? Or are we working up to that? I have a pi 3 and am new to all this haha
Thank you for this video! Do you know if you can you use a PayPal account balance to pay at BangGood or does it have to be a bank account or credit card linked to that card?

Do you make a setting on the Orange Pi to have audio like in the Raspberry Pi?
I think it just works on HDMI
Looking at buying the 512mb version will it run youtube?
How is that site able to sell those without getting hit with a lawsuit from the people that run the orange pie forum?
nice debunk XD
will this run a Rasberry pi retropie image with Attract Mode or does it require it's own version setup?
Hello
My Retrorangepi is stuck on the loading screen, can somebody please help ASAP?
what image is being used?
can you use a raspberry retropie image on it?
cody perret Hey man, there's a modified build of Emulation Station for the Orange Pi, people have tried to put Retropie but isn't easy at all.
cody perret Put retrorangepi its the same just for orange pi
Can I use my roms from my raspberry pi image? Or it needs a different rom set?

ua-cam.com/video/z-5ly2beNkg/v-deo.html
Where can i find the n64 vid? or was it not made?
Somebody needs to get Mega Man X on the job. That's one Sigma that needs to be eviscerated.
wich theme is it? is it compatible with the real RetroPie?
It's called TRONKYFRAN and it is available for RetroPie
ETA PRIME thank yiu
will it support a 128gb sd card
It actually only supports up to 64GB micro SD card.
you can use a extern hdd
can these have kodi 17 installed? and would it have issues running?
+Scott yes it's pre installed in this build by default
ETA PRIME ahh worth getting just for kodi 17. when 16.1 is obsolete all those Android KitKat box owners will tear out to buy android lollipop versions at $40 +. this is a much cheaper idea.
Scott there is kodi 17 krypton preinstalled but there are some problems by control settings they work only with keyboard short key functions. i prefer preinstalled openelec kodi 16 on it that runs perfect

although I hate the look of 17. I'd keep 16.1 forever if I can.
Will any emulators work?
Most do, some require further settings, bios, files...etc.
ua-cam.com/video/57VUaTsgCVM/v-deo.html
never understood why anyone would want a retro engine when you can grab a pi 3 bundle with case, hdmi,, psu + 16gb card for £50
This costs 9 euros on aliexpress + shipping
*Can is play Playstation 2 Games on it?*
No
It is ridiculous to have that powerfull low spec board.
you didn't unbox it
Those specs are pretty terrible to be honest, I rather just connect my Android phone to my TV via HDMI.
i would do the same. but its really hard to compare a $200-800 android phone with a $15 SBC
just dont use a class 4 micro sd on an orange pi, its useless
32GB FOR 6 TO 8 BUCKS?WTF?fake sure but a real 32gb no not even in 2017.I know where you were going but exaggerate much?show me a real 32gb for 6 to 8 bucks or quit FAKE NEWS LMAO
It doesn't cost more than ten though.
great video would love to see more ps1
