Which Sea-Doo Spark Should You Buy?

- Very IMPORTANT! If you plan to build a TRIXX with a base spark get one with iBR. The non iBR's are quite a bit more expensive to convert due to some of the necessary items for VTS that they do not have.
Here are the links to turn your 60 or 90HP Spark into a budget Trixx!

2017 and older models need a retrofit kit for TRIXX handlebars: rivaracing.com/i-24079114-sea...

This guys just saved me thousands. I’ll buy the base spark and just put a tune in that thang and a few things and still save money
100% doing this! Was literally looking at the 90hp thinking how lame an extra 2k would be to spend then while looking at spark videos found your gem of a channel! Thank you good sir! Cheers from AZ! 🍻
Cheers my friend ☺️
@@therealjessescheel Should I get the 2024 base model? says they are 7k. I want a gti but 13 is too steep for me atm. My friend told me I may be too big for a spark but I am only 185 6 ft2. What do you think?
The best video about Sparks
Great video. Got all the info I’m interested in. Gonna look for your next video w a tune!
For a couple hundred more, you can buy a tuning license and a tuner so that you can put as many different tunes on it as you want or return it to the stock tune just in case you need some warranty work. Also it has the brp service pack so I can read the codes reset the codes, and do maintenance on the my skis at home. I took one of my sparks to the dealer once. It was returned with deeply scratched bumpers and the screws by the gas filler were only in one or two threads. That was fun getting those screws back in beach side.
I can't thank you enough for all the information sincerely a 90 up owner
Ending: *Stay TUNED!*
Love it
Great video with awesome content. Thank you.
Toilet bowl cleaner is 10% Hydrocholoric acid. Cleans, but be careful, it can burn your skin. Rest very cool, of course the tuning, nice job there.
Thanks for this vid brother! 🙏🏾
Thank you brother you saved me a lot of money
Thanks man! I think the base 2 Up is all we can afford. I'll just be riding with my daughters, one at a time.
Great content love it!!!
Just watched all your jetski videos gonna check out a seadoo spark trixx 2up near me today it’s a 2019 so I’m hoping it’s in good condition anything you recommend to look out for
Just found your channel. Good stuff!
The 3up is also a legal requirement in some states of Australia when towing a donut etc so you have room to have a driver, spotter and somewhere to put someone in case of a rescue.
Useful video, thanks
Wow! Thanks for the info!
For sure! Make sure and read the description on that one as I had to add some info after the fact. 🙂🤙🏼
Another hint, when checking oil, or servicing the spark the inside of the oil cover cap is also a wrench too loosen and tightend the dipstick, the hull of the spark doesnt have to be split to change the oil filter (cut the zip ties above the rear bolt) and dont drop a bolt it will go into never ever land, also you can change the battery without splitting it, you will have to modify a tool to set the strap back in place, simply cut a notch in a long flat head screw driver!
You do for spark plugs though
(Did them today)
A hint on the IBR, its not just a bucket and a lever you also will have to intsall the acuator, also from what i can remember the harness on a base spark is different from one with ibr/vts, therefore its not just bolting something up, also the ecm will need to be flashed and calibrated to support the IBR/VTS system. You would be looking at a couple of grand easy to incorperate it. They do make a manual reverse kit that is easier and cheaper to install but has none of the functionality as the IBR system, so keep that in mind if IBR/VTS is important your better off buying a spark equipped with it.
It is a MAJOR PITA to add IBR to a non-IBR spark. It's better to just buy a spark with IBR to begin with. The manual reverse option they sell is nothing like IBR and you can't easily install VTS (trim) either. The best bet for a "poor mans trixx" (i own one) is to get an IBR Spark and Add VTS from the Trixx first, then choose if you want the foot steps and the handlebar. My 90HP 2-up with the Trixx VTS system (couple hundred to add) is 96% as fun as the trixx
Great informative video. I’ve just recently started to look for a pair of PWC’s to purchase for my family. These Sparks have caught my attention as they seem to be like a super Moto bike for the water. After watching the information you’ve shared here I really think this model has moved to the top of my list for our playful unit and also go with a Wake 170 for towing the kids on tubes and wakeboard’s.
Additionally I’m now a huge fan of your your other content. I’m a automotive tech by trade and a fan of all sorts of vehicles. The group of 90’s Japanese sports cars are some of my favorites. Love the 3000 GT. I personally have a 1990 300zx with a RB25DET swap but am always looking for the next project and a 3000 GT is at the top of my list.
Keep up the good work and Thanks again for the great videos about the Spark
Everyone should have at least one spark! 🙃👍🏼
Glad you like the other cars too 🤙🏼
Kawasaki X2 is the real dirtbike on water. Shame they don't make them anymore but you can still find very nice ones.
Good video!! Did not know it was that easy to tune them. Ill be looking for that video.
Did you buy used? We are looking to buy new but can't order until August Sea Doo says... grrr.
Yes bought used. If you shop around and find the right seller you can steal these things! ☺️👍🏼
Im 5 minutes into this video cause i found a 2016 same color in my area with like 40 hours and looks in clean condition but even if it is the 60 hp one you just helped me by letting me know i can up that thang for cheap much appreciate it ima look more i to it if any of you have something for me to look into let me know
Yep….getting one of these.
Good info thank you
Good job, thanks
Nice vid thanks man!
Glad you liked it! Your welcome 🙂👍🏼
The spark is very light weight and if you're a bigger person, you will feel like your going to tip over all the time. I still can't imagine having 3 people on the 3up unless they are small children. The battery is also a pain in the ass to remove and install. Also, the whole top needs to be removed to replace the spark plugs which adds a lot to labor costs. I traded it in for a larger GTX 170.
Fantastic info and video. Ty. Stay Wet
Who’s got the most hrs on their spark and what’s the most you have personally seen?
You may have just sold me a sparxx 🤣🤣🤣
So does the regular spark have the 900cc two is that what you’re saying
The manual states only 87 octane is required for this model. I ran my trixx on 87 octane for 150 hours till i sold it.
My favorite sea-doo is the yamaha waverunner ex deluxe.
I see you’re from Arizona, what lake is your videos made on ? Looking to move to Arizona but worried about the lack of water. Only been on lake Pleasant and Havasu
These videos are done in MN. Let me know when your ready to move to AZ. I’m a Realtor in Scottsdale. 👍🏼
I know I’m late, but better late than never. You are right that you can buy the base model and build it up to a trixx, majority of freestyle riders buy stock Yamaha super jets and build them up for flips and stuff. However, what you fail to mention is that modding the ski like that can (and most likely will) void the warranty if you care about that. Also modding the ski like that requires tools and a lot of time and work, which adds to the costs and can create points of failure that you will have to fix or pay someone else to fix if you can’t do it yourself. When you really look at it, paying 2k extra to get what you want with a warranty and avoid the headaches that can come from diy, it can be worth it.
What does the price run
Did you buy it new or used and how much was it?
Cool video
That’s crazy, but that’s really smart
Can u tell me where u live and what is the price of new spart trixx with 90hp because i am looking for one from Serbia
Edit: what is fuel consumption per hour on like full gas?
Hey man. I think around 1.5 gal per hour on consumption. I am in America. They are $7500 to $10k unless you get from a dealer.
how much does your spark cost if u sell it rn?
Wanna come down to IL and do video on installing an a Alternator on 98 GSX
No plans to come through IL currently. Why don’t you make the video and post it up. ☺️👍🏼
@@therealjessescheel Cuz some how I will blow myself up.
How much did you pay including trailer I found a 2020 with 4 hours on it for 4k is this a good deal?
Buy it brother. Won’t be disappointed!!

I’m 6’2 200 my dad 6’4 220. We both ride sparks with 0 issues
@@therealjessescheel how do they handle chop? thanks a lot for this info! I am in saint pete Florida and done mooching my friends GTI I just don't know if I should finance a spark w/ warranty or not for one, for two would I go with 2023 or 2024. I plan on having a girl on the back and heard 2023 may be too uncomfortable of seat? much love thanks once again
Holy crap, I had no idea they had the exact same engine and you can buy different tunes
😎👍🏼
BRP definitely could've figured out a better way to do the spark plugs on this thing.
I found it ironic they call it a spark when you have to split it in half to change the spark plugs.
They could have designed the plastic under the seat being able to lift off to access the plugs. I think Riva sells something like this.
@@91m They definitely could have made a little hatch for access. I find BRP notorious for doing little annoying things like this. Worked on alot of BRP products.
At the Sea-Doo dealership yesterday and salesman told me it’s hard to get up on spark if you fall off. Is he just trying to upsell me?
I mean i don’t know your physical capabilities but I don’t have a problem with it.
If you watch my other video where I race the spark and trixx there is a clip towards the end where I explain how to get on it from the water and video it.
This base model should have no problems towing a tube right or ski?
Base 60 could do it but driver would need to be on the lighter side and you’d want to be pulling kids. Fat driver towing a fat adult pry would not work the best.
Does this mean you may get back on a wakeboard again 🙂
Probably not. Lower back isn’t what it used to be. 🙃
Base and fully loaded
I have had a bad time. Blowing the engine way the fuck out in the middle of the lake and no one to tow you in because it's in the middle of the day during the week. Swimming it back to the ramp is not a good day lol
Yeah, I had that happen to my trip, luckily someone was out and was able to towme back, I got a full refund from the dealership and I’m looking at buying another one
All those extra options probably cost you more to do after the fact rather than just order it on the unit to begin with lol
Depends on what you buy it for originally.
facts, the IBR/VTS is one that will cost you more time and money than just buying a spark equipped with it.
How does it handle with 2 adults on it?
Not good. Take off is pretty bad as well
It's really a 1 person ski with a small child.
The spark is just fine with two adults while towing someone on a tube(i do it all the time.) It's an unbelievably fun machine.
what year is it
2016
can a 2018 honda civic hatch tow this?
K swapped? Jk. Probably if you’re not going up any big hills. Getting it out of the water on a steep incline would give me anxiety.
I’m so close on pulling the trigger
I researched for like a week. None of my recent purchases have put a bigger smile on my face then this ski. I want another one! 😂👍🏼
Where'd u go Jesse
I have a brand new seadoo spark trixx 3 up and I can honestly say I see no real reason to modify it at all.
are u in sport mod
Not in this video. 60hp so no sport.
What trailer is that
spending the money on a tune for a 60hp is honestly completely worthless, just get the 90hp HO
tune that and boom you're chillin
One of my next videos is this racing a stock trixx. I think you’ll like it. 🙃
@@therealjessescheel im excited i will have notifications on👍👍👍
How is spending a couple thousand more for a 90 better than spending $300 on a 60 to make it faster than a 90?
@@crosisofborg5524 you're not understanding.
get the 90 and tune it, it will be even better than the 60 tuned
@@noahenglert It's literally the exact same engine. Any tune you get on a 90HP, you can get on the 60HP. If you get a 120HP tune on a 90HP jetski, it is *NOT* 120+90. It's only 120HP.
wouldn't tuning it break any warranty? probably not a good idea. not much of a difference in cost so if you want the 90 you should pay and not do something stupid like tuning.
🥱😴
@@therealjessescheel really bad advice. Also your shades are hard to look at. Sus ass
Plastic Hulls ...XP smokes these
Don’t buy one!!!!!!! If you have to split the hull just for a tune up they can keep there junk
By far one of the worse PWC is a seadoo
Carbon ring goes … you sink… bust a motor mount… you sink… electrical storm a mile away… fried electronics…. Yamaha is by far the only Pwc I’ll touch as a mechanic people who buy seadoos are the type of people that run kids over on the beach… Kawasakis are second on my list as it’s not GERMAN bs be weary of Hondas not bad but not there complete BEST work.
DISPOSABLE JUNK
As a proud Seadoo owner for 20 years I can say that when the carbon ring starts to go out you get plenty of warning like more and more water in the hull after a brief time on the water. Once you know what to look for you can always stay ahead of that repair. And, switching out the carbon ring, at least on the older models is not that hard!
@@conrad-davischronological you have experience and with the new wave and trix models you need to split the entire hull
never buy a spark buy a rxp or rxt or gsx etc.. the big ones. full polyester..
you literally would be spending WAYYYYYYYY more purchasing and doing everything you're saying than just saying fuck it and buying the trixx,
plus you can sell it for more later if you so choose
a brand new 2022 Spark trixx fully loaded with a single place trailer runs right around $10k after taxes and fees
I got this thing with trailer for $4500. I’m doing fine
@@therealjessescheel true but it's also used.. idk personally i've purchased used toys before and it's never a good investment.
the owner before usually just beats the dog shit out of it
@@noahenglert I agree that I'd be hard pressed to buy a used jet ski unless I was buying it from my brother or someone that I absolutely trust not to $uck me.
None .. they are all crap.
Says the train wreck with 3 clapped skis all not running.
