Great videos, you have sold me on the longmill MK2..... placed my order for one today. Will be looking at your bit sets next
Steve, congrats on your new machine brother! I'm excited to see what you make first on that bad boy.
Thank you very much for this video.
This is so helpful
Edward, you are so welcome my friend.
Good evening Garrett. After many months of searching about CNC machines and checking out my neighbors Longmill MK1 unit, I am finally ready to purchase my own. I have been watching your youtube videos and you are the only one that really covers what a person is looking to learn. Because I have been checking out all your videos and information, I would like to use your affiliate link to give you the credit. I have used the configurator under IDC Woodcrafts, is that the correct page with your links on it? Also, I believe my neighbor said the laser is 7 watts, is there a stronger laser available to fit onto the longmill mk 2 without any modifications or should the 7 watt unit work well enough?
hedberghaa6863, thanks for checking in brother! Congrats on choosing your machine my friend, I know that's a huge first step to be making. I appreciate you thinking of me with your purchase of the longmilll brother, it throws a little extra burger and beer money my way! Yes, the link on the site is my affiliate link but I can also put it here in case you chose to use it: bit.ly/3JQx3BB. Thanks! I'm looking forward to you getting your machine and seeing what you create!
On the Long Mill CNC can you do like on a laser and do a pass-through front to back with the material to engraver an image bigger then the CNC bed size or no
Edward, you sure can do that brother. Its called "tiling"
Hi Garret, Reg from Melbourne Australia
I have watched and enjoyed your beginner videos and longer ones on the Longmill and am contemplating purchase and I appreciate recommendations concerning all the required items as it would be best to purchase all together hopefully to save shipping costs. My first problem is I need to purchase or build a worktable for it. The video on rigidity was very informative but there was no reference to the need for a rigid worktable. Subsequently I found your table build video.
Does the Longmill run OK on 240 volt supply which is standard here?
Does the electronics handle voltage line spikes?
The speed of the Makita router, is that set manually for each router tip?
Butch, I haven't heard of any issues from our Australian CNC brothers and sisters about issues using the 240 volt supply. But, I'd recommend making a post on the CNC Entrepreneurs Facebook page here →facebook.com/groups/cncentrepreneurs. There's a ton of really helpful CNC brothers and sisters on there that will probably have some great tips for you! As for settings on each bit, I have a bit database that will help you. You can upload it to Vcarve and you will have all the correct feeds and speeds for every bit from IDC. Here is a video on how to set it up: ua-cam.com/video/06qlncvzCbY/v-deo.html Here is a link to download the database: idcwoodcraft.com/pages/database-downloads
Trying to figure out if i can get the budget - what are you using for spoil board?
Scary, for this one I would recommend a 3/4" piece of MDF. You need to buy an entire sheet from the big box stores.
@@IDCWoodcraft
If you go to you know who they will cut it for you to size.
Ya, much cheaper to buy the whole sheet than pre cut sizes around the corner.
Have you use 3D wave files?! Thx
Brad, I have brother! It works great.
is "Gsender" included with the package described in this video?
alistairmcintosh7459, gsender is a free, you'll download this separately brother!
Hi Big Bro. How does it go to get a Longmill Mk2 in Europe? Any experiences?
Bart, i am not too sure brother! Reach out to Sienci and see how long it will take. Here is a link: sienci.com/
@@IDCWoodcraft Just ordered a Mk2 48 with laser, now I'm Nr 50659, we'll see :)
V-Carve Pro always seems to be sold out?
Hoff, really? That's strange, I've never heard of it being sold out!
@@IDCWoodcraft Yep, I'm on their site now and the Desktop version is the only option available.
What is the price as configured.
Brad, right now its around $1500. Here's the link: sienci.com/product/longmill-mk2/?ref=IDCWOODCRAFT
$3,300
Laptop what do I need
WilliamBigham, I have a video that should really help you. Here is a link: ua-cam.com/video/Ykftr4YxORw/v-deo.htmlsi=OYeUXXb0WnJtp5SM
What would the total $ be?
Vernon, it really depends which options your opt to get my friend. I recommend taking a look at the site and making an excel sheet to see what your specific total would be. Here's the link to the site if you want to take a look --> bit.ly/3JQx3BB
Hello sir helpful video. I have a work table measuring 4x3 do u think that will work for my 30x30 longmill thanks
Bearded Locus Woodworks, it will be just a tad too small my friend. You'll want to use a table thats at least 60" x 48" instead!
Sir when I surfacing program upload its going to carry one line and suddenly stopped and showing grbl 1.1h for help what happened please help me...🙏🙏
ramijali6964, It sounds like there might be a communication issue between your CNC machine and the computer sending the G-code. Make sure your firmware is updated to the latest version and check your connection settings in the control software. If the problem persists, try reaching out to the manufacturer for further assistance.
Garrett - During your review of the MK1, you made some recommendation about adding the additional Backlash and double nuts instead of screwing the locking pin into the drive shafts... is this still recommended for MK2?
Jay, that isn't needed for the MK2, they revised the design a lot in that department!
WOW! You know how to get me spend my money 💰 faster than I can. That calls for a stiff drink 🍻, more than ☕. Well I guess you can put the stiff drink in the ☕. That's a good rundown because all of that stuff will become necessary as you advance in your talent. I speak from experience.
Garrett, I also noticed that you are getting advanced in your introduction for IDC WOODCRAFT. You've come a long way, baby! 😁🌵
Bill, thanks brother that means a lot to me! That's my plan. We just keep getting better and better as the days go by. Thanks for sticking by!
Great video. Love the way you explain things. Just ordered my Longmill MK2 today.
John, congrats on your new Longmill brother. Very exciting!
Hello, Garret How're u doing? So I wish to ask u about this Makita router, do u adjust its speeds rotation, when u create your Tool Path. Actualy I'm plannig buying this same router, and i wish to know your thoughts about this thing. Or do I buy an spindle? Thx in advance
Eduardo, I'm doing good brother thanks for checking in! In terms of the router, you'll adjust these depending on the bit and the tool path you're running. The longmill works excellent with the makita router since it was specifically designed for it. You could definitely change it out for a spindle but I wouldn't recommend it since it gets a little complicated!
THis is an A to Z CNC router channel, that's why I keep vising it!
messiahcacique1, glad to hear it brother. Happy CNCing.
How much are the duty fees/taxes to ship to the US. My total is $2880.00 Thanks for the education Garrett.
In my last dialogue with them, they have been able to eliminate the duty! Check with them
Get their number from the site here sienci.com/product/longmill-mk2/?ref=IDCWOODCRAFT
@@IDCWoodcraft I believe I seen they are building the duties INTO the cost of the machine. I personally do not recommend this machine. I have had mine for 3 months and not been able to carve ANYTHING substantial. It seemed to carve fine for about 3 hours then just decided to start cutting anywhere it pleased. Ruined TWO signs I was making. Both times the same problem. Be aware, there is ABSOLUTELY no way to get a return / refund if you are displeased. You are stuck with your boat anchor forever. I can't with a good conscience sell it, knowing the new owner will also be stuck with a dud. Just my honest input here, do with it what you wish. I was also informed that you can just call up and talk to the owners or techs, and they are all just a happy go lucky bunch...DON'T BELIEVE IT!!! A girl answers and tells you to put a trouble ticket in...they are in Ontario Canada, so you have to be aware of the time differences if you DO call...once the ticket is in, they will reply, sooner or later. There si NO weekend support and that is generally when most people are trying to use the machine. I know I sound grumpy, but all the videos and reviews I watched that sold me on this thing, all they had to do was unbox, assemble, mount to a table, and GO baby...except it ain't that way. You will discover all the nuances and hoops you will have to jum through before you can even run it. Have fun!!! Hope yours is a better journey than mine.
Helpful video as always.. BTW, has anyone else noticed that they are no longer on the insider list?
Hey Mike. You are still on the list. Check your spam folder
@@IDCWoodcraft I have. I saw the video "teaser " about a new tool being out on 6/27, but nothing since then.
@@mikewalden2243 I checked. You are on the list. several emails went out to the list since. I do apologize. Why it didn't get to you I am not sure. Unfortunately that special has ended
Wheres the sound can't hear u
Sound works. I think it was youtube
The sound is there - Loud & Clear. Either UA-cam was having an issue or your speakers were not on.
Hi Garrett, Gary from Ontario Canada. Just wanted to say I love watching you videos and tomorrow Aug.17 my wife and I will be going to Sienci labs for a tour of the longmill Mk2 which we will be ordering very excited. By the way we will be buying your starter kit CNC router bits set. Just wanted to let you know.Keep up the excellent work will be watching all your videos once I’m right into routing with the longmill.
Gary, sorry for the delayed response to this one my friend it's been a busy week! I hope the tour was awesome at Sienci! I'm looking forward to you getting your machine and getting your new bits out to you brother. Happy creating!
Well Garrett, you finally talked me into it. After watching many of your informative videos and, one of the best equipment reviews I have ever watched, I have decided to add the MK2 to our roster. I was at Sienci Labs in Waterloo today and left with a 3030, excited to add this piece of equipment to the pack. Thanks again for the great videos
billstark, right on brother! Glad to hear this one really helped you. Congrats on your new CNC!
Order the carbide 3d router for 80 dollars instead so you do not pay for all the extra accessories.
Very true brother, its got a bit of a longer cord too!
