Just setup and surfaced the waste board on my new LongMill MK2 30x48... ready to get carving on some projects. I have been very impressed with everything at Sienci Labs so far! Very helpful team of people, support and well engineered / manufactured products! Great job Sienci Lab team!!! Thanks!
This video came in the nick of time, this was the final project to complete my 30x30 build! So appreciated, clear concise, and answered all my questions! Thank you Sienci!!
I got to tell you that the Surfacing section of gSender has REALLY improved since I got my machine last March! Keep up the great work!
Didn't know gsender had this feature. Makes surfacing much easier and efficient.
Thanks for great video. It’s always a good to refresh processes we don’t always use.
Great video and information. Thanks.
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. Thanks!
well done!
Very cool
Great video mate
It's a great feature for the beginning user. I don't like the ramping dance or perimeter move. I wish that part was a enable box. I just usually manually write my own Gcode to do a quick surfacing or profile passes. I just want a basic lead in, Raster, then lead out, simple to write in Notepad or Wordpad. Cool feature no doubt.
nice
Why when pressing stop job does all axis zero out?
Great video I was playing around with the surfacing option and was planning on doing this in a few days, how long did this take for the entire surface. I have a 1 inch surfacing bit, about how long will it take?
It'll depend on how fast your machine is running, but I'd say 10-15 minutes roughly.
My LongMill is arriving this week. I built a table and plan on using the MDF slats like in this video for the waste board. I have a basic question should the LonhMill be mounted at the same height as the waste board or is it ok to mount it flush with the table which will be in my case 3/4 inch lower than the wasteboard?
It's up to you Joseph! The mounting difference won't make a very large impact on machine rigidity - the machine is instead flexible to how people want to use it, that way you could even use very large spacer blocks to raise the machine up and fit much thicker material under the CNC
is GSender included with the machine when purchased ?
Yep!
When you are surfacing, and it asks for the bit diameter (you used 22mm), are you measuring the surfacing bit where it cuts? For exanple, in the video you use a 1" surfacing bit, but the number you input is 22mm (not 1 inch). Where are you getting the 22 mm from?
The bit diameter you should set should be the exact diameter that you measure from the surfacing bit of where it cuts. The bit that I was using is a 22mm wide bit, it is not a 1" bit.
Excellent video. Thanks. I am considering buying the Longmill MK2. However, I just noticed something that concerns me. The gSender software expresses measurements in this video in mm. I hope that this is configurable to imperial. Is it? Is that true in all the software ? Thanks
Yes if you change your workspace settings in the gSender settings, the tool will work and show in imperial as well.
How do you use the "Test Run" function?
You can just press the button in gSender and it'll check the file for any obvious errors in the code
So it doesn't create any movement in the machine? Thanks@@SienciLabs
No movement, if you want to try the machine moving before you cut you can always set the Z zero high above the material and keep the router off, then run the job and see how it looks
Sorry I am Dyslexic and find this very confusing on how to surface my waste board. Just starting out and need my board to be flat to the router.
Do what he did step for step, pausing the video as needed
Jeez, that machines noisy!
