When Bruce was told he was supposed to lose the tv fight to Robin, he told the producer that's unacceptable and that the least he would agree to do would be a draw. This was a very bold statement from an upcoming unknown. The day they had to shoot the scene, Bruce played with Burt's head. When earlier in the day Burt smiled and waved to him, he ignored Burt. And once again later on he ignored Burt. Burt got all freaked out and told Adam that he hopes his old friend is not angry because people were saying he was a black belt and at that time Burt was not. When it came time to do the scene, Bruce came flying in the room and started coming at Burt who ran away. Bruce then burst out laughing and went over and hugged his old friend. 😂

Yep...the filming and editing processes at the time weren’t as sophisticated or experienced Also, the haymakers and judo flips that Batman relied on were easier to film with whatever villain-of-the-week was in town. There may also have been censorship rules regarding how many punches could land, or how much hurt they could show The 70s show kungfu suffered because of this ... as choreographer David Chow said “ABC absolutely bans any more than three hits on a person, all kicks below the belt, more than two areas of bleeding on a single person, any pouring of blood (but dripping is okay!), instruments entering the body, and any scenes of a man dying with his eyes open.”
Rumor has it they shot the scene where the two duo’s actually fight. In the end Chuck Norris came in and whooped all four of their butts. Everyone thought it was a cameo. Turned out he was just passing by and couldn’t stand for what he was seeing. It wasn’t in the script though so they cut it.
I actually have had pleasure of meeting Burt Ward and saw the 60’s Batmobile up close. I found out that Bruce would spare with both him and Adam West before they would be doing fight scenes. He told me that Linda Lee would often bring Brandon on the set, too. Also, Burt had a pet lion cub at the time along with some cats and the cats would openly avoid the cub because they knew it was dangerous, but the cub just wanted to play, so it noticed the cats would use a certain box and there it waited for the cats, once cat went to the box the cub hugged it and proceeded to lick it all over but it didn’t hurt the cat.

Which is why Bruce was too scared to fight anyone and have it filmed. He was just a brand. I'm still a fan, but it's just a fact that he was no fighter.
That would be like Kareem Abdul Jabbar in his prime telling Mini Me "Hey Mini Me you can't guard me!!!" Mini Me would answer "That's understood!!!" Lol!!!!
yeah bruce understood the first (well almost) rule of combat. be menacing so that no one wants to fight you, and when you do some solid fighters still get cold feet due to the reputation and lose that why. bruce wasnt a superhero. in olympic context he would have won some, lost some. if burt was a novice then yea but he had enough skills to take bruce down on some days.

If they acturally defeated lee like they planned ppl would burn the studio😂
Not in those days. I really liked Kati, not Lee wasn’t the icon he is now.
@@dethlokprime8655Even then Lee was an icon since in some places AT THE TIME it was considered the "Kato show" instead of The Green Hornet...for OBVIOUS reasons. 🧐
When you're playing a co-op beat 'em video game and "friendly fire" is active:
Robin didn't want no smoke with Bruce Lee. My monies on the guy who actually practiced karate for exercise.
I read somewhere that Bruce Lee and Burt Ward were actually workout partners for some time, as were Lee and Chuck Norris.
I've always remembered Kato doing that turnaround kick...knocking Robin over the desk.
This was a great show when I was a kid POW!
In a fight between Robin and Kato I say it's Kato hands down!
Bruce Lee is so AWESOME miss you Dragon 🐉
Bruce Lee is the best
Bruce Lee studied martial arts and was a well trained athlete. Bruce Lee, no contest!
you can tell how advanced and far ahead of time Bruce Lee's martial arts skill was here.
Bruce Lee fought more like comic book Batman did here which is ironic.
Robin was supposed to win but Bruce Lee was having none of it. So the match ends in a draw.
If we're talking the characters, there's probably not much in it, though I would still give the edge to Kato. In a real fight between Bruce and Burt, I don't think Burt would have even a remote chance, though in reality he was no slouch! Despite appearances, Burt was a natural athlete and had excelled in Football, track and wrestling at High School and had some training in Taekwondo.
Bruce Lee, always. Always.
Actually Bruce Lee and Burt Ward were good friends and had met before they were famous and on tv and Burt actually stayed in Bruce Lee's apartment along with his wife and his baby son Brandon. 😂
imagine how better action films would be if Bruce Lee was still alive..
Please Show video of Charles Bronson vs Bald Jim Henry in Hard Times 1975
I was at a convention where Burt Ward said he used to spar with Bruce Lee
"What do we have here? A Mexican standoff? A dead heat? A photo finish?!"
No! We have.... The best anime crossover!
"it's a good thing those guys are on our side"
kicks Robin in the head anyway
RIP Bruce Lee 1940-1973
😎
i am born in 70 but i remember watching batman and saw kato. probabaly they played those episodes much later here in canada quebec. i did not know bruce lee at that time i guess. its nice to know he did this.
Kato vs the Whole Room: Put all my money on Kato!
woah! that was intense! better than any fight scene in the all the marvel movies combined!
Burt Ward and Bruce Lee were neighbors before Batman and used to spar with each other as Burt was into martial arts also.
look at my boy robin panicing figuring out how to defend XD
I like this scene a Mexican standoff 'and a great performance❤❤❤❤👌
This scene like a treasure
"Holy, enter the dragon, Batman!!!"
This fight is better than anything in the mcu
The Kato Show !
excellent choreography, the DC character never sustained injury.
60-s were too early for Bruce to appear. Those days fight cinematography was not ready for him.
Yep...the filming and editing processes at the time weren’t as sophisticated or experienced
Also, the haymakers and judo flips that Batman relied on were easier to film with whatever villain-of-the-week was in town.
There may also have been censorship rules regarding how many punches could land, or how much hurt they could show
The 70s show kungfu suffered because of this ... as choreographer David Chow said
“ABC absolutely bans any more than three hits on a person, all kicks below the belt, more than two areas of bleeding on a single person, any pouring of blood (but dripping is okay!), instruments entering the body, and any scenes of a man dying with his eyes open.”
Dude who said "And the Caped Crusaders!" sounds like he could change a nine dollar bill in threes...
Robin its Kato and Kato turn the punch into a spinning tornato kick with perfect balance. love it.
I read somewhere that Ward and Lee lived in the same apartment building and Lee gave Ward pointers on fighting for his Batman audition.
Batman would see Kato beat the shit out of Robin and be like... maybe I should be YOUR sidekick
:P
This might be 1960s fighting but some of those punches look like they actually fucking hurt
Damn my childhood intelligence just came into question by myself.
Don't worry you're much smarter now lol
Beautyful
😂😅😂 back when breakin tables and whammy were at its peak still are 😂😅😂
It's weird seeing Bruce Lee so slow, but it's understandable for it to be slow to look more flashy.
Bruce Lee was told to slow down many times on Hollywood sets. He was too fast for the cameras.
