Wow Turkey was not at the top of my to visit soon list, but it definitely is now! I LOVE all of the extra information and historical information you are putting in these videos. Really adds so much to the experience for those of us watching. Great video thank you!
Türkiye was not on my list either but I went back in 2021 and ever since then I've been back 3 more times. So 4 times in total. It's such a diverse country. It has alot to offer and it's so beautiful! You will love it.
Istanbul's been on my bucket-list ever since seeing the film 'Topkapi' - I retire next year and and I fully intend on ticking-off every box with Istanbul being the first one !
I remember the public toilets in Ephesus, they sat next to each other and musicians played, it was quite a social event, apparently 😊 highlight of my trip !
Another great video. It's not mentioned enough, but your world history and geography lessons are underappreciated, thanks for giving us a glimpse of parts of the world that most of us will never see.
I love how you guys segue from sailing into a history lesson so naturally I didn't even notice. If they taught history in school like this everyone would know so much more about our world and humanity. In these divisive times you guys are bringing folks together. Awesome video... as always!
Hanging in a field of “Poppies” is what those flowers are. It’s such a beautiful picture! I think one of the things all of us have in common is our love of the information we all get from these videos……You guy’s do the extra research for us and yourselves, that sets you apart from all the others and I appreciate it, because it matters!!
I don't know how many times I can say, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen! It seems every week I get to broaden my view of how cool the world is just by living vicariously through you guys! Thank you so much once again. Thrilling video.
This episode had me crying after the visit to John's tomb and the house of Mary. I shared it with my loving wife. Both of us have a love for GOD and his word. Thank you so much for all of the great videos, but this one hit my heart so hard. GOD bless you both!
Good to see that the feelings one gets in an ancient place is still alive and well in the younger generation. I recall, back when I was in first grade, the feeling I had when I first put my palm on one of the stones of the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt. Brrrrrr---I can still feel the awe after 70 years. I am so happy that you have video'd these episodes for your daughter to enjoy and see her parents sharing the experience with her. Well done!
Hard to explain how much I look forward to seeing you all each week. I've commented a few times. you are doing what I almost got to do and I'm 72 now so I go through you. Lol thank you for taking me with you. Just saw this week's episode. Always great.
Probably the best views of Ephesus I've ever seen. Most only show the library when there is so much more to the site. Your daughter is receiving a better education than any public school can provide!
I love travelling with you...I've visited Ephesus & Pamukkale several times....Ephesus is a particularly humbling experience. Your sharing of Turkish history is brilliant. I'm almost counting the days till September (my annual trip to Gocek)! Savor every moment. Turkey is not dissimilar to Africa, inasmuch that once you've tasted it, it's in your blood forever.....I'm looking forward to you all exploring Istanbul....you'll need a week there, at least!! Make sure to visit the Cistern Bacilica, it's stunning & often overlooked. Many thanks for your videos. They are stunning.
great job of showing Ephesus, you should get the Turkey Tourist board to sponsor some of you trips....a week or two ago I said I was looking forward to seeing Turkey through your eyes, this first episode did not disappoint you guys are fantastic
Such a great video! Of course you are in one of my favorite places but who can ever get enough of children growing and learning! What a beautiful job you are both doing! It is wonderful you have found this way to make your dreams come true and you share it with us! ❤. What joy you bring my wife and I! I need to move to the coast and sail again!
You guys are just the very best! You show us wonderful scenes of antiquity and your little girl is a charmer. I could watch your videos for ages , but they always end too soon. The scene of you and your little family reclining amongst the poppies and ruins was so great. Well done Atticus crew.
I've been waiting for this episode since you announced you were heading to Turkey. So many memories of traveling around there. My first day in the country, I was standing in front of the great theater in Ephesus wondering how I got so lucky to be exploring such a cool place. So glad you're getting to experience it too.
They valued the written word so much back then because every book in there was literally handwritten. No printing presses back then, so if you wanted multiple copies of something, each one had to be written individually. 11:18 - And what a beautiful shot of Isabella!
Anatolia is in heavy earthquake zone sadly so everything has been damaged, even massive walls of Constantinope collapsed several times. People see Japan's 9 magnitude earthquakes and think Turkey's 7.8 isn't bad but 9 one happened at 30 km depth while 7.8 at 7 km, many times closer to surface and therefore more destructive. It was same in ancient times as well, there are Roman and Greek records of entire cities being destroyed and burried after an earthquake. Weirdly enough they never had Japanese approach as building wooden structures rather they kept using stone, even village houses were all stone. They were trying to make them more quake resistant however with bronze rebars etc even 2,000 years ago. It was quite common to use stones from ruins as well, for example stones of both temple of Artemis and mausoleum of Halicarnassus were used to build other structures, that's why they are entirely gone today without even ruins.
Well, given to the climate here, living in a wooden house was not so safe because of fires. Ottomans made a law that bans building wooden houses after suffering a huge fire destroying more than half of entire İstanbul. There are some big old wooden mansions dates before this ban, but most of their owners started to leave those houses. Only the poor couldn't afford to build stone houses so living in a wooden house is akin to being dirt poor even today.
This was so informative and fun. Ancient ruins were fantastic reminded me of Pompeii. The baby is almost walking and so beautiful. Poor Ozo, I can't wait till he's back with you. Can't wait till next episode, thank you guys! ❤
Excellent job on this video! The historical commentary was Very interesting and well done!! It is So Amazing that tiles and artwork are still visible at the ruins, Wow! And how about those hot springs!?!? And the engineering of the "condos" was brilliant!....Isabella is blooming and adorable to watch, love the interaction between each of you with her☺️♥️Thanks for the tours!♥️♥️♥️♥️
You need to visit the Northern Aegean Part of Türkiye, you should return to Bodrum via 1915 Çanakkale Bridge over Dardanellas Strait. So you may visit Troy, Assos, Lokanta Bahar Edremit and of course İzmir, etc on your path.
Thanks you Three, Great Scenery and shame. We don't know rhalf or more of what history was really like. Thanks for taking us along and being good HO STS and see you next Saturday?I hope.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love your channel all the time! We hear the music you used at the pools as the ending each week on a UA-cam channel, “Life Uncontained”! I was confused! I thought, Oh know, their video is done! Ephesus was amazing and so were the pools! Living vicariously through your channel!
As a Turkish viewer whom living in Turkey since born, and a mechanical engineer at the same time, your adventure and content is giving me full of positivity. When you complete some of the projects I get happy. When you show the Isabella (may Allah (God) give her an amazing and healthy life) I can't hold my smile and giggles. And when you two show the adventurous, happy and lovely family life of yours I just can't stop myself to think me and my fiance sailing like this! We love you guys, love from Istanbul. I can be volunteerly guide you three in here
Wonderful video. Spent time in these places. Try to get to Cappadocia and when you head south on your boat try to get to a port where you can go up to Mt. Nemrut and see the big heads.
Hi, we went to look at Kunidos today as we are on holiday in Turkey at the moment. I looked across the small harbour and thought ‘I recognise that boat!’ Anyway bet you were glad for the safe harbour in all that wind. My boy nearly got blown off his feet by the fountain. Hope you are having a good time.
It's like Italy, I've read people living there don't really consider Roman ruins as "historical" because those are everywhere, they live on them and in them and among them. Etrusk ruins (predating Rome, like 3000yrs or older) yeah those are considered as of some historical significance. The whole Mediterranean, especially the Eastern basin, is just chock full of remains of civilizations thousands of years back.
For example, I live in the province of muğla and where I live there are the tombs of the lycian kingdom that lived here before the greeks colonized anatolia and the field we cultivate is at the foot of these mountain tombs and I stop and watch the tombs and think about the past. I keep thinking that where there used to be a city, there must have been a lemon field. and this is the same in almost all of turkey, east west black sea and the mediterranean, this place is so rich that wherever you put your hand you find a handful of history, even the world's first settlement and the first place of worship are here, so I guess it seems normal to us.
In fact, we embrace it. But the Greeks (as if they were ancient Greeks) begin to accuse us, saying "they are ours and you are thieves." Still, you can see how well we take care of them.

Thank you for introducing me to the ancient and natural wonders of Turkey. What really amazed me was how few people were there! How wonderful. Rome is similar but so inundated with tourists
Hey you Guys, I have been watching your channel from the very beginning, and this episode, amongst a lot of others has been a real eye opener, and I’m not sure if you get many comments about little Isobel’s but what a brilliant experience both in connection with your young daughter and the life experiences You both are giving to her in her young life, she seems so happy and content and your entire content is always a joy to watch, May I say well done for giving little Isobella such a great up bringing with a rich and real look at life, congratulations on an amazing lifestyle and I wish you all, longevity and happiness to enjoy so much more of our beautiful world , well done you guys , and thank you Jordan and Des’erae.
