My last video reacting to Dan's chess gameplay became one of the most watched videos I've done in the last year! So of course I had to watch a video from Dan titled "The Best Bullet Chess Streak of My Life!" and I have to say, it didn't disappoint. Check it out! And as always, thanks to Dan for being a good sport about this stuff!
Dan's bullet strategy is essentially sacrificing all of his pieces as part of an advanced algorithm of low elo chess that it forces his opponent to capture in such a way that they never have the time to attack Dan's king.
We call it Dan's Gambit
It’s basically the gecko tail strategy if the gecko also dropped some limbs and semi-vital organs
Hang pieces on purpose, so your opponent wastes a lot of time trying to figure out what the catch is
@@nathanielcopperfish912 Gamb's Danbit
If you baffle your opponent so much that they take time to think (and do so a lot) you can win on time at Dan's ELO
1:20 You can also tell it's the Vampire Opening because it sucks
Bruh so good
+2
so this is the guy who writes NL's jokes for him Kappa
I mean. Yeah? But I remember watching Levy's video on the Vampire opening, it was pretty lulzy.
The vampire opening is a real thing, except it's 1. c4, e5 2. f4... not whatever Dan was doing. GothamChess did a video on it a few months back.
"thats a fork? thats not even chopsticks" lmao
Absolutely stealing that
I see you've played forky chopsticky before
When your fork is shaped like a spoon.
15 moves - 3 mistakes, 9 blunders, 2 missed wins - and he still wins
every move move except the first move is on that list
1 book move
that's honestly majestic
i didn't even take that in lol 15 moves, 15 "!?" or worse
He won by trying to move his opponents knight. This is absolute insane skill.
Love Daniel pre moving to hang his pieces which eats at his opponent’s clock. When his opponent has only 10 secs left all Daniel needs is to hang 10 pieces. Galactic Brain
The hilarious thing is, you know that what's happening is they see the bishop fly with absolutely confidence and have to check the entire board to make sure there's not something they missed.
It’s 400 IQ he’s secretly a Grandmaster
Happens a lot at 1700 elo too tbf.
In bullet
um, its called pre-jacking
the fact the report says 0 blunders after that first game is crazy
Dan doesn't make blunders, he does gambits
I had to go back and check again. haHAA
What's the equivalent of a brilliant move, but bad?
@@bool. i believe that is annotated as ??!
!? (exclamation first) means "interesting" (strong, but there's some kind of flaw in this idea)
?! means weak move - not a bad move, but there's an objectively better move - usually failure take advantage of the opponents mistake.
“To call this slow would be an insult to Mollases” is probably the sickest line NL has ever said
100% stealing that one for real life usage
"This isn't even chopsticks" has to be a contender.
i bet you sleep with a nightlight
cuz you're scared of the dark
cuz you stink like a fart
somebody stop this man
@@Northernlion bruh such a niche reference hahahaha froggy fresh is spittin

The other openings are just that unpopular
statistically there is an eighth most popular opening, nine if you count automatically resigning.
@@mfThump theres 20 possible first moves
There are way more good openings for white such as G3.
It's like watching Zapp Brannigan drawing up battle plans.
Love to see it
That's good wood

We found the best 2021 comment so far
If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
Trying to play Bullet chess with dan on a physical board would be the most exhausting minute of your life
It would be like when you misplace your car keys and keep second/quadruple guessing where you left them🤣
Dan getting scholar mated at the end is the most fitting way for his streak to end
LOL So true
14:23 Dan uses the famed Levi Rossman gambit of making an illegal move with his opponent's piece.
i cant breathe
I think he had a plan to use that knight to capture the rook and after the king took he just tried to do it anyway lol
@@DOMOzCHANNEL this.
Who the f is Levi Rossman
The strategy employed here is confuse the s*** out of your opponent with your absurd moves and they will waste all of their time trying to figure out what is this guy thinking
I was just about to say, how will your opponent premove if you don’t play what you’re supposed to?
I feel like Dan’s approach to chess evolved from playing with other people in person, and just gaslighting them the entire game.
Honestly that's your best bet to defeat someone far better than you, do the unexpected
The virgin 1500 ELO player vs the Chad 290 ELO player
He prejacked 8 more wins while he was winning the first game, incredible
The problem isn’t Dan’s strategy being “screw chess go fast” it’s that every opponent just lets him do it
Levy teaches NL, when will we have a NL teaching Dan collab?
Ah yes, Trickle-Down Pog-onomics
Please teach Dan the Semi-Slav Decline Tarrasch Variation kf4 bonglcloud 'Carlsen chad' pog pog flank gambit
@@zaaxi7424 to dan he would probably call that the "orstein and smough andor landor defense"
Wait, scratch that, when will Dan teach NL to prejack his moves?
No the next step would be hikaru teaching dan, further extremes on both ends
I feel like im awful at Chess at 1100, this makes me feel much better
1000-1400 elo is the hardest to get out of imo because it's when you know a lot about what's going on and the mistakes losing you games aren't always as obvious as things like trying to move a pawn that would put you in check while your rook is hanging and their knight is attacked by a pawn lol
I'm saying this as only at 1700 on liches (like 1500 chess.com) so it's not like i really know wtf I'm on about, but I was 1200 for ages before I started playing longer time controls (like 30 minute games)
I hover around 800-900 in 10 minute and feel like a potato. These videos really do keep us going, lol.
Daily chess helped me climb. And I'm being fr
@@fisheatsyourhead Giving yourself more time seems like a big deal to me. I can play 10 minute chess but there I feel like there just isn't enough time to think positions through properly as a beginner. (which would lead to learning as well)
"Not a legal move... But you absolutely have to respect the audacity" 😆😆😆😆
watching dan blundering 4 pieces in a row and still win every game is absolutely hilarious and i love it
0:03, the satisfied smirk on his face, while having 12 blunders and 6 missed wins is priceless.
You know you’re really good friends with somebody when you can roast them for half an hour and know you’re still gonna kick it later and have a good time.
“Rarely do you see the enemy king cross the entire board” Killing me NL
The game with the king going across the board without any other piece getting developed had me in tears
I cried laughing at the analysis of Dan grabbing his opponent's queen. Chess is blessed.
I thought for sure NL would bring up the fact that dan had 3 mistakes, 9 blunders, and 2 missed wins at 22:20
You love to see it.
That's one good move, you can really see why he's a 300 ELO master
It was actually a 25 move game. Dan might have blundered 9 times, but you lost 10 moves.
@@TheGlassgubben my b I just paused when I saw it and tunnel visioned.
@@VirtualGnome, in times like these, it's good to see someone owning up to their mistakes.
14:51 literally had me wheezing to death. Dan's a treasure, and NL's straight face commentary just makes it so much better.
Fun fact if he took the knight at 3:03, it would've been mate in 1. Well done on spotten that hidden gem Dan, NL I expect better ;)
How? Queen moved to f6, if pawn takes and then queen takes f4 you still have e3. If not and dan does something else and queen takes d2 you defend it with queen exchange and bishop. What am I missing?
@@pixelpox11 Queen to h4
@@pixelpox11 After the pawn takes (gxf4) the Queen can move back to h4 (Qh4#) and deliver checkmate. The king can’t move nor block the attack.
@@pixelpox11 he just goes back with the queen to h4 after pawn takes knight. Mate
@@wesseldewinter1784 I see. Okay cheeky mate. Didn't see that one. Thanks guys :)
My favorite thing about watching beginners in chess is how because they're not really thinking about their opponent's moves or really what they're doing on the next move, the game basically unfolds like magic before their eyes. Dan moves a piece and is astonished as chess just happens in front of him
I'm like 1400 ELO in classical but never tried blitz, so while I laugh at all the blunders I have a feeling under the time constraints I wouldn't do much better cause I'm used to taking like 30 seconds a move
"One of the least deserved wins i've seen in my entire life" some of his Isaac record begs to differ
NL’s played probably over 2000 games of Isaac on the channel. This guy can’t have played more than a few minutes of chess in his life before streaming this, surely.
Huh?
Someone needs to tell this guy about castling. Its a helpful little technique
He knows how to check, that's all he needs
He’d probably say castling is resin
Dan plays chess like it's not a turn based game
The enemy can't counter our attacks if you don't know what you're doing.
prejacking this video into my brain
"and then he tries to move the opponent's king"
Dan: "My Elo has doubled since we last met, Egg."
NL: "Good... twice the meme, double the pog."
Rookie to q7 is pawn all day
"That's not a fork. That's not even chopsticks."
I believe this is the hangmans gambit, when you hang so many pieces your opponent forgets about your king and then runs out of time trying to capture everything you sent to the gallows.
14:20 is just incredible
One of my most favorite videos, absolutely legendary game play and commentary
I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed for 33 minutes and 31 seconds straight before
Dan's reaction to the loss had me in pieces. Priceless.
This is now a dan reaction channel
le problem?
@@Northernlion absolutely not
@@Northernlion I love it
I think my favorite part is how pleased Dan is with himself
The most kind-hearted and supportive reactions to the most illegal and ridiculous move attempts really make this video.
I NEED to see Levy react to this.
PogChamps 3 is coming soon. So reactions to Pepega moves will be plentiful.
This is the hardest I've laughed at a UA-cam video in, like, a year. I suck at Chess, but NL's reactions to the insanity are amazing.
I was actually crying of laughter at Dan's grabbing the opponent's king. I struggled to breathe for a solid minute. This is the hardest I've laughed in like 2 years.
I want a vid where Dan and Ryan play each other in bullet until Dan wins
If he wins even one this chess series is over
@@krematethefrog8665 he could maybe win on time but it seems unlikely
Pogged out of my gourd for this
Dan's really benefiting from the Zapp Brannigan approach to combat.
Just sacrifice wave after wave of your pieces to the enemy, until they time-out.
They can't attack your king, if they're too busy taking every other piece *Roll Safe meme*
This is like watching "Purge casts a pub" back in the day.
I laughed soooo hard that I started feeling guilty because Dan is such a good dude.
nl you gotta get levy to review dan’s games. pretty sure he’d have a heart attack.
I absolutely love these videos. I really need to see Dan analyzing NLs games live. Dan is such a great guy and enjoys everything he does even if it's not a good move lol.
"You think you lose" - Dan Gheesling while playing chess
Truly one of the greatest quotes of the century
This is exactly what I needed today, thank you NL and Dan for the pure joy that was watching this video
He makes awful moves, but he makes them fast
22:25 15 move game. 3 mistakes, 9 blunders and 2 missed wins
Actually impressive
That's 14 out of 15 bad moves. That's a 93% bad move rate.
I want to see Dan play 5 minutes a side; he'd actually get to/have to think.
If only someone had explained to me when I was younger that the way to win at chess is to move pieces quickly at random and beat your opponent on the clock.
I'm pretty sure this is the only unedited UA-cam video that i have genuinely wheezed at.
i thought i was going to die i was laughing more than i could breathe for 10 minutes straight after 18:50
I came to the conclusion that Dan doesn't remember the king can take pieces, but I'm very glad he's happy
That ENEMY king can take pieces. Here does plenty with his own
Dan is actually on such a whole other level that he calculates and executes the worst possible move combination that is still able to win to troll his opponents
These videos are so good, hilarious commentary on top of hilarious plays.
NL: *spends the whole video disrespecting Dan*
NL: Dan, no disrespect
i rewatch these like every couple weeks. need more.
I cried laughing at 14:40 with NL analysing Dan's moves. I haven't cried laughing in so long. Chess is a beautiful game
3:06 "Just take the knight"
You know that hangs mate in 1 right? 10. gxf4 Qh4#
"that's not even chopsticks" 29:43 hahahaha
I don't think I've laughed this hard in a while. Thanks NL! The "only a 290 elo could actually play 20 moves in the future" line almost got me hyperventilating from laughter.
I never thought I'd laugh so hard at a game of chess.
My favourite out of context quote is "Feed him clock"
Dan playing specifically for the timer is like spamming specials in a fighting game, like yeah you will climb but you don't have a clue what you are doing 😂
Ryan, this is exactly what Primary School teaching is like.
Brilliant straitlaced commentary, you could feel the simmering rage bubbling beneath the surface. To see dan, in his destabilizing element and commentary that exemplifies the bewildered mindset of his opponents is a testament to how this man came to become a former big brother runner up. Sometimes, all you need to do is stall for time and unsettle your opponent. I will definitely be taking Dan's teaching to heart.
I laughed so hard at this! Thanks Enelle! Please keep the content coming!
This NL reacts to Dan (or vice versa) content is absolute gold
this was the funniest video ever, so many good moments.
17:53 this man is so confident his opponent would trade queens that he premoved losing his own queen just to prove a point. absolute chad
8:00 man your reaction here was fucking hilarious. "Wait no way he just said checkmate"
I usually browse youtube very aimlessly, never making an effort to consciously keep up with any certain channel or series.....but these videos are my absolute favorite right now. So damn funny. Thank you for this
Jesus, I’ve been watching the wrong chess content this whole time
3:01 actually im pretty sure he can mate with the queen if he takes the knight
well the problem is, if you mate with the queen, the king will probably have you beheaded.
"it's like a spear! it's only attacking one piece but it can't move" 🤣🤣🤣
I just realized NL is that teacher that drags the mouse all the way down to the pause button instead of just clicking anywhere.
Also wow. I had no idea how bad 200 elo was.
Love the tête-à-tête of Dan/NL reacting to each other
Laugh all you want, Enelle, but have your Elo doubled in the last two weeks? Do you have a 9 games long win streak in bullet?
At 3:05, pawn takes knight puts you one move away from checkmate, with the queen just moving back to where they were.
25:36 NL missed Dan's legendary "if you think, you lose"
ive watched this video 3 times start to finish and i think it made me laugh so much i cried every time
did it again, king crossing the entire board gets me so good
10:55 was the greatest roast ever broadcasted on this site congratulations!!
I feel like Dan operates at chess on a weird level of *always* forgetting the king can take pieces.
Bruhhhh. My belly hurts this is tooo good
Honestly your reaction to Dan trying to move the opponent's king had me in stitches. More of this please!
Bro tried to move the enemy king to attack the enemy rook. Big brain strats.
I just came across this video, and I think whom I learned is called Dan has the most wonderful attitude towards chess one can have, if you are not trying to go pro. He has found a spot where he can do decently, he has understood that it's ultimately just a game, is having fun while playing, and doesn't give a crap what anybody thinks. I love him.
