So glad I found your website and videos! I replaced the mortise lock today, and had a hard time lining up the set screws to remove the rods. I drilled it out, but couldn’t find the screws still. What I learned was I could grab the rod and pull on it hard enough to cause the deadbolt to fully extend and allow me to use the original holes meant to loosen the set screws. From there, your video made it easy. I ruined my lower bar when drilling, and lost one of the mortise drive spindles but luckily I was able to order replacements off your site tonight and those will be easy replacements now that I know what I’m doing. Thanks for the guidance!!!
Great video, thanks! Just by seeing how the lock works I was able to repair mine but if it needs to be replaced in the future you've got my business.
Really well done. Simple clear instructions.
So glad to find a very well done video on this. Ordered parts from your site and im excited to replace my whole mechanism today.
Good! We're glad you were able to find all the parts. It's not really a fun install, but definitely feels like a job well done when you get it all together! Good luck!
@@AllAboutDoorsandWindows That's an understatement. I was only able to get it dissassembled/demolished and get the mortise lock in so far. Without your explicit instruction I would have never found those hidden screws because they weren't actually able to articulate and line up with the hole. I had to drill them out lol. Now I gotta order some of the rods I destroyed xD Thanks again for saving my door!
What's the point of this lock on a glass door?
Doors should never be this complicated for standard households. If the door is for a bunker, vault, safe, or Fort Knox then sure, but this is overkill.
Haha understandable. It actually is especially great for coastal areas with high winds -- it helps keep the door from warping by giving it multiple latching points instead of just in the center (top and bottom will warp out of shape). There are many multipoint locks that are MUCH easier to install/replace than this one.
Madoka, Godzilla, Prime!
I have a HOPPE multi-point lock. You mention a hook in the video. Where do I get one of those? I'm looking for repair info because our handle sticks. When I played with it while the door was open, the lower latch/lock stuck open when I turned the handle down to open the door. I had to play with it very slowly to get the lower lock not to engage. Any thoughts?
