  • JUST A NOTE
Due to the length of these plays, I'm only summarising what is written on the pages of the source material. For greater mythological context, you can watch my AESCHYLUS episode which details the surrounding mythology, background character stories, and also (of course) a basic breakdown of who Aeschylus was as all of this will help make the play make more sense. Unfortunately with all of this information, the episode was a whopping 1 hour and 20 minutes long!! So I cut it in favour of timing, and made sure I included this information in a separate video for you guys to refer back to :)
In the next few weeks, I will also be uploading separate videos explaining the entire curse on the House of Atreus so you can watch that, too. I'm trying my ABSOLUTE BEST to keep these as bite sized as possible while still including all of the information, which means this series and mythology will be a little bit of a puzzle regarding the videos I create!

A lot of people tend to like Sophocles or Euripides better than Aeschylus, but I don’t think they can hold a candle to him. The Oresteia is a masterpiece through and through. I think it’s better than the Iliad tbh

I don’t know if it’s fair to compare Aeschylus to Homer given that they’re completely different genres and formats, but both writers are utter masters of their craft 😮‍💨

When I read the part about Cassandra it reminded me of the death of Jesus Christ. Jesus prays to God in Gethsemane and screams to God when he is on the cross. Cassandra screams for Apollo. Both Jesus and Cassandra know the future and stil they are going to walk right into their death. Is there anyone out there who thought the same as i did? On Google I cannot find anything about this comparison.

Ah Agamemnon, the King of Mycenae and the High Wanax of the Danaans. Also the biggest jackass in the late Bronze Age 😂
A man who united the Proto Greeks and create a power that would even be acknowledged by the Hittites. But then fumbled everything when he sacrificed his daughter, sealing his fate (also waisting resources in a ten year war which left Greece vulnerable for pirate attacks and invasion from the balkans from the north)
