0:00 And every year, on the date of the accident, it romes again, as a warning to others. Shrieking into the gap, wandering like a lost soul
Percy, what are you talking about?
The ghost train! Driver saw it last night!

@@MRCSANY He didn't say. Oh, it makes my wheels wobble to think about it.
Most excellent. Duke of Gloster would be how you Colonials should say it, though Glaaster (attempt at 'Murican accent) would be agreeable. Throw the tea in the harbour again by all means, providing it is Earl Grey (Gray?)
Gloucester!
Yeah mate, give an Aussie a crack... how does it go ..... Glo-ss-ChEster? 🤔😂😂😂😂
It’s Gloucester. Not only is it written on the loco but as someone who has been to Gloucester many times that’s definitely how it’s spelt.
Cabbed the loco aswell, just saying
@@rootersairforce7648 I believe he’s spelling it as it should be pronounced, not as it should be spelt. Sounds like he’s and Englishman and I doubt he’d make such a mistake, as even I know how it’s spelt and I’m a true southern man
@@andrewreid4820 the English language is such a blend of different languages and we love putting extra letters in. The best way of thinking about it is like the meteor. Gloster. We just add letters in so you get glow-ses-ter
The Duke of Gloucester is a brilliant locomotive.
Voyagers, Pendolinos and the Hitachii IEP classes (TOPS classes 220, 221, 390 and 800 series) must be bumping along the bottom, literally.
I remember hearing the HHP-8 (stands for High HorsePower) had a significant problem with truck hunting where the trucks would constantly wobble back and forth instead of riding straight on the rails. This is likely the cause of much of their reliability issues with truck frame cracking. 49:39
Danish people was actually angry at dsb for not accepting the ice...because they were considered reliable compared to the Italians
Honestly, I don’t blame them in this case. The ICE train sets are very good high speed express trains.
You forgot the Mather dixion locomotives of the GWR, The GWR articulated locomotives (Thunderer and Hurricane) and finally the Haigh Foundry locomotives also built by the GWR.
A row of consolidations is called a gentrification
I have read somewhere in the last ten years the main cause of its poor steaming/ high fuel (coal) consumption was due to a misunderstanding in the openings in the ash pan air dampers, instead of the opening being eight foot four inches the builder must have misread the the drawing & made them eighty four inches that equals seven foot, of course there may have been other faults found as well during the rebuild.
Why does the lion on the Brr logo look like it's gagging on a major hairball or suffering from a severe case of constipation. That poor kitty cat.
Hey, are you ever going to talk about the failed Southern Pacific Santa Fe merger? I love your content.
I love the fact that, from the front, the Rail Zepplin looks very much like a Japanese Shikansen bullet train, but it came much earlier. Inspiration, or just coincidence/convergent evolution? Because both designs are very airplane like.
Your relationship with british rail is like a father who's disappointed with his son
Hey History in the Dark, ready for a Funfact? About the V250 by Ansaldo Breda... we still use them, and i see them everyday running up and down the lines from Trieste to Milan to Bologna to Rome and many other Italian cityes (I live in Veneto, wich is a region in northen italy). Now tey got renamed as ETR700 (in wich ETR stands for Elettro TReno wich means Electric Train.... pretty simple isn't it?) and it's one of the sets we use for the high speed service in italy wich is called Freccia Rossa ( Red Arrow ). I took them some times for travelling and i'd say they're nothing special, even the seats in the first class feel cheap and sometimes even uncomfortable. I still prefer to travel with the ETR 500 and ETR600 or even the ETR1000 for the High Speed services.
The Fontaine.
WTF IS THAT!?!
And the graffiti on that train set...
"DON'T BUY TRAINS FROM ITALY"
😂😂😂😂
Breda also had built a fleet of low floor LRV ‘s for Boston Massachusetts MBTA they were ordered when the big dip was ready to be built they were late and had a lot of problems the MBTA sued Breda for late delivery and for derailments on the Green Line these were called Type - 8 has of now a lot of them have been scrapped as of now the MBTA is getting a fleet of new LRV ‘s being built by CAF USA Inc 102 new 110 feet long cars called Type - 10 cars
Can you make a video on the LMS turbomotive please.
You said Caledonian right
Video idea: mega compilation from episode 10 to 20
On the s160 seems the brits just dont know how to railroad, seeing how they were used around the world for years just fine. If i remember correctly 2300 of em makes em the most produced steam loco ever
THE WARTIME GERMAN CLASS 52 WAS THE LARGEST CLASS BUILT ANYWHERE TOO LATE FOR WARTIME USE=SOME HAD CONDENSING TENDERS FOR USE ON THE EASTERN FRONTYHE RUSSIANS COPIED THE TENDER FOR CRIMEA AREA
Duke of Gloucester isn’t a bad locomotive, BR just cheaped out. The “modifications” made in modern times were just making the changes that the original plans had.

it´s not the ice but the I-C-E
I smell dutch

There is a saying among aviation that if something looks good it’ll fly good. Yeah that’s not true. My flight school just got 4 new beautiful planes and they FUCKING SUCK. They break at least once a week. It seems the same is true of locomotives.
Gloster
Eugene Fontaine was SCAMMER!
Never trust a Lion on a Unicycle!
Ɓritish rail hates you history in the dark.
GL AW STER
For as hardcore as British railfans are, man y’all have trains that look like toys and some of the overall worst locomotives that get attention for being that bad. Every country has likely dozens if not hundreds of absolute failure locos, but dang history in the dark has 25-30% of all videos dialogue having to explain just how bad British locos are 😂😂😂😂
Diesel locos during the 50s and 60s....yeah, real hit and miss, except for the class 03, 04, 08, 09, 13, 14, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, 33, 35, 37 and so on...steam not so bad, check out the gwr kings, castles, halls, manors, granges, saints, stars, pannier tanks, 14xx, 28xx, 56xx, 94xx, lms jintys, 4f, 5f, 7f, 8f, jubilees and many many more, as for why the early diesels failed so badly its because we didnt know what we were doing, we had plenty of coal, coal was cheap diesel fuel was expensive why make diesels when it would cost more to run, as for lookjng toy like the main reason for that is the loading gauges which were set down the Victorian engineers and weve not been able to change
