Bingo Idea: Read a book you never thought you'd read (or actually get around to reading)!
book bingo idea- read a book that you watched the movie/show adaptation first
Book Bingo Idea: Finish a series you started in the last 2 years
The Book Nook models are so fun! My current hobby. I have done two this year hahah
About 14:43 Books with Food in the title:
-Fake Dates & Mooncakes: It's a short romance and super sweet
-The books by Lauren Gilmore have most often pastry or something in the title, are on the cosy romance side
-Does "A Tempest of Tea" by Hafsah Faizal count for this?
-Charlie and The Chocolate Facotry by Roald Dahl
-You Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne
There are possibly many more but that's really just all I can think of from the top of my head c:
okay so i used to think all these books about energy and attracting good vibes were a bit much, just another one of those ‘feel-good’ things that sound nice but don’t really do much. but after hearing a lot of my friends talk about this book called magnetic aura, i had to take a second look. at first i thought they were all just jumping on a bandwagon, but then i started seeing changes in them. they were more grounded, more confident, and honestly, a lot more likeable, without even trying. people gravitate toward them, and it’s not in that ‘fake it till you make it’ way - it’s more like they’ve tapped into something genuine. i finally decided to pick it up after hearing about how it helped them with their confidence and how they started dealing with stress better. it’s kind of like when you realize the power of a positive attitude but without all the clichés. doesn’t hurt to give it a go if you feel like your vibe could use a little lift. who knows, it might work for you too.
Great Video Jesse Have a Great Weekend Happy Reading 📖😊
I often read non-fiction books just 1 chapter a day. I can't do it with fiction though 😂
For Japanese Light Novels I would recommend 86, either anime and light novel are really awesome. Character development and topics like guilt survivor, war, racism are well covered in a kind of dystopianish light.
About the multiple POV books, if you don't mind a trilogy, The Liveship Traders trilogy by Robin Hobb is amazing!
funny story, i was skeptical about this whole ‘energy’ thing until a friend told me about this book, magnetic aura. at first i thought it was just another self-help fad, all those books that say “just believe in yourself” or whatever. but something about the way she spoke about it made me curious, and then i realized a lot of people i know had read it too. they’ve been talking about feeling more centered, like they’re able to handle stress better and not get pulled into negativity the way they used to. i’ve been noticing people who’ve read it seem calmer, more at peace with themselves, even when things get crazy. at first i thought it was just coincidence, but now i’m starting to think it’s not. i’m not saying it’s some magic solution to life’s problems, but it seems to shift the way you see the world, and that can make a huge difference. if you’ve been feeling drained or stuck in a rut, it could be worth considering. it’s not for everyone, but it might be for you.
Jesse, I love the thought of a bingo board! Good luck with all of ur reading goals, hopefully you can complete them!!(:
I had my first ever boba yesterday and now I am obsessed 🥹
Jesse, here's how you can accomplish the read a chapter a day without feeling frustrated: pick a short story collection. You can read a story a day and read another book at your normal pace.
For Light Novels, I would recommend Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. It technically has a lot of Chinese mythology, but I still recommend it. And for the you choose, maybe finish a manga series that you started?
I’m in love with the villainess was an amazing light novel! I read the first two of the series!
funny enough, i didn’t believe in this kind of thing until a friend handed me magnetic aura. she’d been telling me about it for weeks, and i kept brushing it off, thinking it was just another one of those self-help books that people overhype. but i heard so many people talking about it, and every single one of them seemed to change in a subtle way after reading it. they were calmer, more attractive in a subtle way, just… magnetic. it wasn’t like they suddenly became different people, but they definitely seemed more comfortable in their own skin. i guess i thought it was all just talk until i saw it in action, and after seeing those shifts in people i knew, i thought, okay, maybe there’s something to it. i’m not saying it’s the miracle answer to everything, but it seems to have a real impact on people’s energy. guess we all could use a little extra aura sometimes, huh?
I don't normally do Bingo but maybe I'll do it this year! Looking forward to your completed book nook model in the Discord!
EDIT: I am doing a bingo and one of the squares I am doing is to try to read a book I have previously put on hold or soft-DNFed. I put way too many books on hold because I lose interest at the time.
food books: sweet bean paste by durian sukegawa, almond by won-pyung sohn
Oh oh! It's middle grade I think but I loved "Pie" by Sarah Weeks. If I remember correctly it also has recipes for some pies in there as well
Book with food in the title: Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa
For light novel: "Baccano!" I'm always hesitant to recommend this because it's not the easiest one to take in if you're not familiar with it (most readers come from watching the anime first). It's set in prohibition era New York with mafia, gang wars and craziness with a little hint of alchemy 😉. I love it, it was my whole personality like 10ish years ago 😅. There's an audiobook version too.
I make bookish bingo for me and my friends every year, it's very fun! I've not read it yet but how about eating an orange when you read priory of the orange tree (I can't remember if you've read this but I'm 90% certain you'd have looked at the size of it and noped out!) Just picked up a Monsoon Rising and when the book is naked it's mint green (coincidence?) 😂
Dude McKay's is my favorite book store. I'm going in 2 weeks. It's an hour and a half away from me so I have to plan ahead.
My recommendation for books with food in the title are: A Pho Love Story by: Loan Le and Kisses and Croissants by: Anne- Sophie Jouhanneau both are amazing books😊❤
You’ve inspired me to create a book bingo for 2025 ❤
Jesse have you read Braiding Sweetgrass already? If not I think it's a great book to read a chapter from everyday!
Joanne Fluke has a whole series of food titled books. The are quick and easy who done it mystery novels.
For your goal to read a memoir: I HIGHLY recommend Matthew Perry’s book. Absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.
One of my favourite mystery books is "Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by Alan Bradley --- so if you like pie at all, that's an option! If you don't like pie, it's one to avoid for your bingo prompt 😂
I love when food/desserts are incorporated into a story 😻 adding this to my list.
I’m trying to remember the name of a sci-fi book I was assigned waaaaay back in highschool that was actually really good….. MC’s father bought a bunch of land in like Montana and built a self contained society in preparation for WWIII and years later a new government regime comes and rounds everyone up and forces them to live in their new utopia, except the means by which they maintain this utopia is not ideal lol I feel like the title started with an A but I can’t remember!!!
A light novel recommendation: Ascendance of a bookworm.
It's just cute and funny, and ya know we love bookworms ^^
Don't Call Me a Hurricane by Ellen Hagan is a fictional book written in verse and it has less than 500 ratings--I read it for National Poetry Month last year and enjoyed it
If you need some help with books under 500 ratings I'd recommend This House is Not a Home by Katłıà (an Indigenous Canadian story based on true events), Finch House (middle grade horror) and Sistah Samurai (a Fantasy Novella). Hope 2025 treats you well! 😊
I love the end of year/ beginning of year bookish videos, Ive been looking forward to them since october lol
Haha! They're always a good time. I love reflecting & also looking forward to what's to come.
I had totally forgotten about the 2024 book bingo until I saw the notification of this video!🙊
I am afraid to check mine 🙈lol
so i was talking to a few friends the other day and they all mentioned they read this book called magnetic aura. i didn’t think much of it until i realized how much more confident and magnetic they seemed. one of them got a job offer out of nowhere, and they didn’t even apply for it, the company just reached out. another started attracting amazing people into their life, like the kind of people who actually lift you up instead of draining you. honestly, it’s like something shifted in them after reading it. they don’t walk around talking about it non-stop, but it’s like you can feel it when you’re around them. i didn’t believe in that ‘energy attracts energy’ thing before, but after seeing them change, i had to wonder. if you want a little boost in your personal energy, maybe check it out. not that it’s a magic pill or anything, but it definitely made a noticeable difference for them.
New viewer, so not sure if you've read them or not, but for the sci-fi spot you could try the "Murderbot Diaries" series by Martha Wells. I'm not a sci-fi fan, but these are mostly novellas, and the main character is so relatable. The stories are also a little slow at first, but build up to some great action scenes. The themes are good, too.
Here again to beg that you read Airy Nothing by Clarissa Pattern as an underrated book 😭 it was my favorite of 2024, idk how I even found it but it has like 4 reviews lol
For light novels: I read "To Every You I've Loved Before" and "To Me, The One Who Loved You" having never read a light novel and I loved them, they intertwine and can be ready in either order
Recommendation for lower than 500 ratings: In the Body of a Mind by Kayla Elfers
It is a short book of poetry ❤
here again to recommend all the books by becky chambers and everina maxwell for scifi books!!! theyre AMAZING (personal favs are to be taught if fortunate by becky chambers and winters orbit by everina maxwell but they both have other books that were great as well - becky chambers is quite well known for the monk and robot series these days :))
Ever read Bridge to Terabithia? 🥲 The main character's name is Jesse!
