- Thousands of people are protesting in the Georgian capital Tbilisi, against the so-called 'foreign influence' law.
The legislation will require organisations receiving funds from abroad to register as 'foreign agents'. Opponents say it could be used to crackdown on groups critical of the government and damage Georgia's ambitions of joining the European Union.
Thornike Gordadze is Georgia’s Former Deputy Foreign Minister in Charge of relations with the European Union. He says former prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili is orchestrating the government's move.

No, this is Georgia where NGOs receiving secret foreign donations, such as from Soros and other western trouble makers are going to be exposed by a new law very much like the FARA law in the US, because they will have to declare any foreign donations over 20%. The people demonstrating are worried about being exposed as foreign agents.
😮no ways. 1/3 of GDP .. that's impossibility
Georgia is a tiny, developing country so it`s no surprise. He has 4.9 billion dollars according to Forbes.
@eagleeye182 Most of us know how unreliable Forbes is..
They'll do anything to sell you a story
georgian people want to be part of europian union
EU wants Georgia too... but first, EU just needs young Georgians to defeat Russia on the battlefield. Slava Georgia.
No news about Armenia and Azerbaijan?
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!😂😂😂
What's there to report? Armenia bent over for Azerbaijan again, as they always do, waiting for their daddy Ruzzia to save them... It's been 100 years since they begged to join USSR and they still believe that Ruzzia cares about them...😂
The same law is being advocated in western countries. How is it against fundamental rights?
It was explained clearly why it is against fundamental democratic rights! Maybe you need to listen to the video carfully!
The law is being pushed by Russia and is anti-democratic at its core.
Not in Australia! Foreign media and journalists are free to work here.
Check your sources better
Not so sirius?
Do they protest against transparency and against registration of foreign agents?
Georgians are interesting people.
It's the same law that Russia adopted and the reasons behind it are not democratic.
How much did they pay ?
Because it's not about transparency 🤡
@ASkepticalMind
The same law exists in the USA, UK, etc.
@Numaaaaaa1
The same laws exist in the USA, Israel, UK, etc.
Why does the EU oppose that in Georgia?
Ivanushka durachok is the greatest Russian of all time. A close second is Borat : the greatest representative of Russian cultural influence on neighbouring countries. Who in their right mind would want to adopt Russian legislation?
hey Borat ...similar legislation exists in USA since 1938 ......who is afraid the most of the new law ???the answer is ...the foreign agents ...
We have the same law in the U.K. and the US has the same law also

Imagine being AGAINST a law that protects against foreign political interference in your country 🤔... No, I don't get it either.
So you support tiktok ban? And support the crack down of radical islamists penetrating christian western countries? If you dont you are a hypocrite.
I know, right? What is Al Jazeera doing having an office in central London (at the Shard skyscraper, no less). Let's boot them out, eh?
@@andysk5438 🤣 Why can't they have an office in London?
@@andysk5438 The new Georgian law is much like the USs FARA law, it's a transparency law where you have to declare foreign donations above 20%.
