all modern phones drastically slow down charging after 80$. I think I read on the gsmarena or another review that they made a special design on the frame to increase volume and frequency response, so that it can get lower mid frequencies that other phones can't. I'm guessing that has something to do with it. I'm thinking of getting this phone but 2 things holding me back- no SD card slot, and mixed reviews on battery life. I'm very interested in this phone but I was disappointed to hear about the VoLTE situation. If I hear that ASUS has issued an update that switches it on for Australian carriers I'll buy it. Until then, it's a deal breaker.
Yup. During my usage there was no volte for my carrier. But few weeks after I sold it, there was an update which enabled volte on my carrier. I think u just need to monitor more on this topic in your local tech news mate.
Another thing you need to know before buying: The volume button on my ASUS Zenfone 8 broke after just 4 months. Pretty poor quality given that the included cover does not protect the buttons.
Owned an S21 a week ago, switched over to the Zenfone 8, I can say that the battery, feature and OS are really better here in Zenfone 8, tho the camera is better on Samsung, you can install GCam on this phone to improve photos, however, when taking night mode shots, the stock camera already produces great photos. 😁

Can you comment on 2 questions: 1. Is there some heat problem associated with Snapdragon 888? 2. Does this device gets hit with professional usages? - outlook, emails, browsing, remote desktop, MS Teams/whatsapp usage etc. 3. What modem does this have inbuilt?
hi buddy, i answered your question 1 and 2 in the video. This phone uses 5G modem. in details you need to check here :) www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-888-5g-mobile-platform
@@MarcYeoTechReview Thank you. I see in this link Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X60 5G Modem-RF System is modem name. Reason I asked because, in India, there is huge dependency on data speed, and I found on my iphone 12 (modem: x55) speed is too high than any of the androids I have or iphone xs too. There is drastic difference in speed. so I am trying to get android which would support to get that same internet speed like iphone 12.
I just bought a pixel 5 recently and I'm still not satisfied with its size bcs its a bit wide to use on one hand. Is Zenfone 8 nice to use in one hand? Should i trade it in for z8? Btw great video man loves to see my fellow malaysian youtuber 👍
Honestly guys, I've been using this phone for well over 6 months now, and I wouldn't recommend it at all for some very simple reasons. 1. The fingerprint scanner will not work nicely with any kind of glass screen protector. This is made worse by the fact there are no nice cases for it, so they all have minimal protection, and tend to be REALLY slippery. 2. The screen WILL NOT LOCK - EVER! I mean it even has a pocket detection setting, that does absolutely nothing at all either, but even just sitting down, my phone will unlock and hold down a "key" press just from my leg. I randomly call people, and randomly send them message all the time. You end up needing to put your phone screen side out from your body, which, because it has no screen protector on it, increases the risk to it. 3. The standard case you get with the phone, severely increases the chances of breaking the phones screen, with the edge being missing around the buttons and leaving the screen completely unshielded around the volume buttons. Besides that, its a good phone, but as a phone, its a useless piece of crap that makes you look like you're using something from 1999, and haven't figured out where the lock key is. It makes you look BAD.
@@MarcYeoTechReview Today my phone completely turned itself off, whilst supposedly "locked" lol, this is an absolute joke of a phone, and I wouldn't recommend anybody getting it. To add, the screen is always too dim. I know its not a Samsung OEL screen, but the colours just don't pop. Oh I've told Asus about this all, and you get the usual hate filled customer support from Asus, who simply don't care you're customer with their latest phone. They simply said "deal with the retailer, we don't care." They've known about the faulty fingerprint scanner from day 1. They've made so many updates for this phone, and absolutely none of them have fixed all the issues I've had from new with it. From this experience, I don't think I'll ever buy another Asus product for as long as I'm alive, even second hand.
It depends on individual usage tbh. And also on the firmware used. Gaming definitely drains more battery. And my usage based on daily task without gaming. 4000 mah can get 6 hours plus is not bad already

@@MarcYeoTechReview I watched. And that's why I so glad that Asus brought us this version of the Zenfone 8.
thanks a lot bro. so are you getting this phone? hehe

I REALLY LOVE COMPACT SMARTPHONES AS CURRENTLY USING A 5'5 INCH BUT BATTERY LIFE AND STORAGE IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR ME ON OVERALL USAGE. THIS PHONE LOOKS PERFECT FOR ME EVEN THE BODY BUT LIKE I SAID SOME CONS IS STILL THERE
Perhaps can get one of these 2?

Possible to underclock the processor?
You have to check it out in xda developer forum buddy 😊
Super sir but what about the heating issue ?
Heating issues have been improved buddy. As mentioned in video 😊
Can I change the shape of the app icons and folders? :)
I don't think so bro. As far as I remember there is no theme store. The phone is almost as near as stock android
This is a cool phone .. ASUS is the brand i prefer most.. but too expensive.. beautiful and packed with rich feature...portable .. good for people who like smaller phone..but i would prefer bigger screen hehe.. great review bro. full support
thanks a lot bro. if you want bigger screen, perhaps zenfone 8 flip would be a better choice. the price in Malaysia still ok to be honest. still lower than most flagship which cost 3.5k to 5.0k
@@MarcYeoTechReview yes Zen 8 flip got larger screen ... but price also very large lol... selling 1.3 k here...but ASUS really got great hardware ... it is worth the buy if i can afford/// simply to last 3 years of usage .. no problem
@@budgetgadgetsg omg it so expensive. in Malaysia only 2999...one day you should travel to Malaysia to buy phone bro hehe
good vid

Hi. Thinking of getting it but have heard reports of a certain "Ramdump issue" . Theres a need to send phone in for a motherboard change. Found out about it on UA-cam. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.
I also heard about this issue. Perhaps you wanna get it sorted out first on the ram dump issue?
@@MarcYeoTechReview yup will do Marc thanks. Keep up the good work.

Can we remove that "asus zenphone 8" when taking photos?
Sure. Of coz. By default pictures does not come with watermark 😊
Good Video bro but the price for a compact phone is too high
thanks bro. i think it is a nice option for ppl who really wants compact phones with flagship. actually everything is flagship grade except for the size only
I wish more manufacturers would come up with a 5.8-6.0 inch phones with probably 780G or 870 soc and price them lower maybe around 1.8k to 2k.
@@pijesz it is possible. i also hope so :)
How much for the 8GB + 256GB model ?
we only have another 16gb variant in Malaysia selling at RM3299
@@MarcYeoTechReview that sounds a lot 🥲
@@autophoto2537 yup. it is better to get the base model at RM2699 instead
Digi already have volte since 2016. Strange that this phone doesn't support it.
Yes. It's phone dependant actually
its okay, phone battery shouldn't be fully charged until 100% anyway.
:) thanks for supporting my channel and video mate
I'm very interested in this phone but I was disappointed to hear about the VoLTE situation. If I hear that ASUS has issued an update that switches it on for Australian carriers I'll buy it. Until then, it's a deal breaker.
Yup. During my usage there was no volte for my carrier. But few weeks after I sold it, there was an update which enabled volte on my carrier. I think u just need to monitor more on this topic in your local tech news mate.
@@MarcYeoTechReview In India it was released 28th February 2022. Should I buy this mobile for gaming?
Another thing you need to know before buying: The volume button on my ASUS Zenfone 8 broke after just 4 months. Pretty poor quality given that the included cover does not protect the buttons.
Thanks for the feedback buddy. Quite surprised to hear that. Wow
Hows the battery
Not bad. U may refer to this video. I mentioned it with screen on time and charging info 😉
Hi bro, in Malaysia, s21 or zenfone 8 is a better buy? both same price on shopee hmm
Great video!
If you want really compact and for better gaming, zenfone 8. If you want much better camera, S21. Thanks for your support bro to my channel 😊😊
Agree with u bro 😊

Can you comment on 2 questions:
@@vipulmahajan6343 most welcome. Thanks for the support to my channel 😊
I just bought a pixel 5 recently and I'm still not satisfied with its size bcs its a bit wide to use on one hand. Is Zenfone 8 nice to use in one hand? Should i trade it in for z8?
Btw great video man loves to see my fellow malaysian youtuber 👍
Hi Bro, thanks for the support for my channel 😊 appreciate it. Zenfone 8 is nice to hold but with a case. It can be very slippery sometimes
Thanks for the feedback bro. I hope Asus see your comments
I see. Hope Asus will see this
I'm early!
thanks bro hehe
Phone specs and features is all good but I am doubted with the battery.
Does it really drain that fast? or it depends on your usage? 🤔
It depends on individual usage tbh. And also on the firmware used. Gaming definitely drains more battery. And my usage based on daily task without gaming. 4000 mah can get 6 hours plus is not bad already
Wow! thank you for the fast response, hoping to have that phone by the end of the year, but it is expensive here in the philippines. 🥺
