    My theory is that the Primaris were created by the Emperor all along as an Astartes Mk. II and that Guilliman finds out about the Primaris from Corax because the Emps gave him access to it after Istvaan. Cawl wasn't creating the Primaris as much as he was just repairing the damage done to the project by the Alpha Legion during the heresy.

      I think the Primaris are, or are close to the how the Emperor intended the Space Marines to be originally. If I remember correctly, the Emperor only started working on the marines after he lost the primarchs. If this is true, I suspect he would have lacked the knowledge and genetic materials from the fully completed Primarchs needed to make Primaris marine right out of the gate.
      It might actually explain why they are called Primaris. Because they were the intended first version of the marines?

      It's a good theory, but the problem is in the pudding: Corax was already actively forgetting fundamental parts of the Magna Mater by the end of Deliverance Lost, so the knowledge was somewhat temporary, and why he just didn't start again from scratch as it didn't take him very long with the first batch.
      HOWEVER, in Sons of Selenar, RG Nykona Sharrowkyn had the physical, actual Magna Mater, not a psychic imprint, aboard the Ship the Sangprimus Portum; hence the name. I think it is no coincidence that Guilliman came to Cawl during the scouring, right around the time his forces would of stumbled across Nykona in coma-sleep with Garuda.

    Space Marines now are far removed from the intentions of the imperium 10 thousand years before.
    The Primarchs of 30k understand the purpose of the Astartes, needs of the imperium, and the need for better soldiers at the reveal of chaos, Chao's intensions, and Chao's broad threat.
    The Primarchs would understand the Primaris project only makes sense. You must improve your soldiers and weapons of war when faced with a greater threat. The "same old, same old" just won't do.
    The Primarchs aren't stupid, immature, superstitious minded fools like some of the Astartes of 40k.
    Every loyal Primarch has the wisdom to appreciate and understand the practicality and necessity of the Primaris.
    Let's not create imaginative drama where it wouldn't make sense to have it.
    It's so obvious that if Guilliman was doing any of what he is or has done for nefarious reasons then chaos would have exploited and turned him due to it. The loyal Primarchs would internally deliberate and come to this conclusion that the Primaris and Guilliman's intentions are good in a matter of moments, if not seconds.
    For the reader, Guilliman's intentions are made clear to cast away any doubts on the reader, when he is given the corrupted chaos crown and Guilliman casts it away. If Guilliman had any intentions of nefariousness, such a crown would have taken root in that desire.

      Also given that many of the Primachs were aware of the flaws within their Gene Seed. I truly believe that had this info been revealed before the fall, It is likely this would have secured the Loyalty of a couple traitor Primarchs.
      The idea that the Emperor was aware of these issues and in addition to working on the web way was also looking to improve and stabilize future Astartes, I’m sure Rogal, Corvus, Vulcan would have welcomed Same with Sanguinius, Magnus, And Fulgrim.
      Hell if Mortarian could be cleansed and rebuild his legion he’d probably take them up on it after what happened in Nurgels Garden.

      Except it wasnt really only the Emperor... it was pile of people around the Emperor like Sedane... quite frankly spare marines 2.0 were already in existence by the end of Heresy... Grey knights which Big E concocted (with his team) on Malcador´s behalf.
      the "emperor has made" is insane simplification.
      He already had projects for upgrades up and running. And in comparison - Cawls upgrades arent really anything that special.
      sinew coils are really just manufactured biotechnology its not really an "organ" (Mechanicus is actually really good at that...)
      magnifact is essentialy "half" of specialized primarch organ which cawl recovered from Emperors logs, with other half being lost...
      he only really made the Belisarian furnace from scratch and thats essentialy something thats comparable to keeping Krieg "horses" alive with all the biotech changes to it.
      the improvements Cawl himself made are not that interesting...

      It also could have been his brothers didn't really care. They were all so taken by grief and even Guillemin eventually let his rage against Fulgrim make he do stupid things that nearly cost his life. I suspect that Guillemin will try to tell them and they will tell him they just don't care. Once the scouring is over and they kill their traitorous brothers and find out what happen to the Lion. Then they will bother thinking about Golden Boys little project. The shock of indifference will probably worse than them arguing. Especially if it takes place after Guillemin proposes breaking the Legions into chapters. Only people who care argue and if the others start going silent. Then to Guillemin remaining brothers disappeared long before his 10,000 year nap.

      How? As far as we know, Imperial records would only tell Guilliman one of three rumors about his brothers. One, he’s dead. Two, he’s in the eye of terror. Three, he’s in the webway. Guilliman is busy being the last good thing humanity has to have. He doesn’t have time personally running off into hell dimentions looking for his brothers. That’s why half of them are lost. Maybe if the DAs let him visit the Rock one of the watcher will see him and spill the beans about the sleeping Lion. Otherwise, there’s two active things Guilliman can do. The first is to really start putting pressure the Eldar. Eventually, some faction of the Xenos will either agree to search the webway for the Khan or actually know where he is. Can you really trust those knife eared bastards with a strength forward task? The only other pragmatic option would be to help the Salamanders search for Vulkan’s treasures in hopes that the myth of the relics being able to bring back Vulkan are true.

    • @chaptermasterpedrokantor1623
      @chaptermasterpedrokantor1623 2 роки тому +5

      Not Rho, but my guess is this wasn't planned over 30 years. GW was perfectly happy letting the setting teether as it was. With the Imperium always on the brinks of collapse, the Eldar on the brink of extinction, Chaos, the Necrons and the 'Nids on the brink of erupting. They just realized two things. That you can only keep a setting in this stasis for so long before it starts to bore people and make them go and look for another hobby. And in a setting where the Imperium keeps on forgetting tech you can't release new plastic models, logically you'd have to remove them. They had to do something to move the setting forward, give them imperium a chance at some new toys aka plastic for GW to sell. And I also think that the Horus Heresy series made people lust after the Primarchs. So if you bring them back you can sell even more plastic. So another 30 years for another Primarch to show up? Hell, GW might not even exist anymore in 3 years if they keep on fucking up with their lawyer bullshit and Warhammer+ shenanigans. Or if they join in the woke fun. Bringing back more Primarch might be as seductive to them as bringing back Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield was for Marvel and Sony in Spiderman. Instant ka-ching!
      If handled well that is. Guiliman's return and especially the Primaris introduction did not win any Oscars for good writing and handling.

    Frankly the deductions coupled with a bizarre hope for some kind conflict between the Primarchs is a ways off the mark here. Firstly, the Imperium Secundus was a smart move given the status of the Imperium as a whole. If Terra fell it was meant to be a fall back. Second, given the nature of the status of most of the present day legions and the low numbers, having a primarus project just makes far more sense. Corax was given the green light and Guilliman did exactly what was needed to be done to protect the Imperium. If the Primarchs return, they will see the same shit show that the 40k Imperium has become. Primarchs don't think like or behave like humans because in all reality they are not human any longer. They no longer have the same emotions, and biological drive as humans. Hell, they barely have the same genes as us lowly apes. Comparing the Astartes to base line humans is like comparing a child with severe down syndrome to an Olympic class athlete with Einstines intelligence who can live for thousands of years.

      His advice would of been less than stellar since the psychic imprint the Emperor gave him was already fading from his mind before the first batch of Raptors were even out, which is why he didn't try for a redo.
      In the Lore, the most likely source of the Primaris is in the hands of Nykona Sharrowkyn at the end of Sons of Selenar.
      And for my personal opinion: I think it would of been very wholesome plotwise if the Alpha Legion had a hand in letting Nykona escape from Luna during the Siege to ultimately aid the Empire in the same way they had a hand in Letting Corvus Corax escape Istvaan to ultimately undermine the Empire. It just sounds like something the Alpha Legion would do.

    I am an blood angels simp since 22 years, so I am clearly not the biggest fan of the smurfs but: route is one of the smartest primarchs who ever lived. He can play 5d chess while his opponents try to figure out how to play 4d chess. Also (and hear me out) robute was the one who ended the legions and he will be the one who brings the legions back. Evidence? I will give you two: after Dante is warden of half the galaxy, Dante us supposed to bring all blood angels together to clean up the imperium secundus (legion) and robute him self is claiming his old empire as a base of power where every ultramarine chapter is part of ultramar (legion) he is slowly but surely brining back little big empires within the imperium and every mini empire will be controlled by a legion.

    His brothers would ultimately support the primaris once they've determined there is no sinister motivation behind them. They've essentially had the exact same soldiers for over 10,000 years now, eventually some improvements ought to be made.
    Breaking up the legions will always be a controversial movie. Outside of the Big E outright saying that should be done, it'll be a point of disagreement.

    Pretty sure it says in Codex Space Marines that the oldest Primaris Marines have memories of meeting Rogal Dorn. So Dorn found out about them before he disappeared, right? At the very least. I'd think most of the Primarchs would want their sons to be closer to their genetic makeup. Most of them have a narcissistic streak, like you'd expect from a demigod.

  • @Ryuzakku

    It's a shame that the two Primarchs who would have been completely for this adjustment are no longer "accessible" for Guilliman.
    The two being Sanguinius, who was afraid of censure due to his gene seed's flaws, and Magnus, who would do anything to save his sons from the flesh change beyond letting them die out.

  • @silversurfer8818
    @silversurfer8818 2 роки тому +1

    It would be interesting if Belisarius Cawl finds evidence that the Emperor purposely made defects in the gene seeds - how would the primarchs act if they found compelling evidence. Perhaps Lemans perception was acute enough to remember the dialogue Corax had with him while unconscious during the aftermath of him fighting Horus. If he understood that the legions was the reason for the downfall of the imperium, perhaps he would follow Guillimans actions.

    In reference to the Space Wolves. Here is what may have been overlooked about why they dislike Guilliman so vehemently. Didn't he take over Lord Commander from Dorn after his disappeared? So only the Khan, Russ, and Vulkan were left by that point. The Lion and Corax went awol very early on in the Scouring. So he'd really only be able to tell those remaining Primarch's. Given Bjorn and the Wolves didn't seem to have any idea about the Primaris in the Wolf Time book I think it's safe to say he didn't tell Russ so why would he have told Khan or Vulkan? I guess they may retcon the timeline so Robute is last man standing of the Primarchs after HH. Also, the Big E gave Robute his sword in M42 so must have been cool with the Primaris project.

    I don't know if the Primaris project would be quite as much of a deal breaker as you might think with the other Primarchs. Particularly with Dorn, Corax, and Vulkan. Honestly it could have been an attempt to placate Dorn's concerns about the Codex Astartes. One of the biggest sticking points with Dorn was that the Legions were a concentration of force that could be sent to repel a sudden external threat to the Imperium. He didn't think the new chapters would be able to counter a huge threat like the Rangdan or an ork Waagh like the one that the Crusade defeated on Ullanor. That this concern is actually ridiculous since you'd still have the same number of Astartes as before but with even better quality control, command, control, and communication in the chapter structure is something that should have occurred to Dorn but at any rate doesn't really matter. The Primaris project is effectively a vastly superior version of the Last Wall protocol. Honestly if it weren't for GW's hard on for Bobby G and lack of imagination I'd amazed that Dorn wasn't the one responsible for the Primaris project or at least in on it. Dorn wanted to have a backup plan for in case the Traitor Legions returned. This is the one that makes the most sense and Dorn is an eminently sensible Primarch. He may have had an initial gut reaction to the Primaris project, especially the improved space marines angle but due to the fact that it's exactly what the Emperor would do in their situation except He probably would have implemented it straight away instead of locking it up for ten thousand years for the sake of plot convenience.

  • @matthewharr6881
    @matthewharr6881 2 роки тому

    This may sound odd but what if the Primarus were brought about by Guilluman's brothers I remember reading that Crawl went farther then Guilluman might have intended for improvements to the space marines. What if there were conditions for breaking down the legions, I can’t really see Russ or Dorn turning down stronger and more stable warriors everyones knows the space marine project was rushed by the emperor. What if they also had a hand in the creation of the Primarus to take things even further then Guilluman planned, it would explain how Crawl keeper them secret on Mars for so long, I don't think one primarc could pull something like that off in the sol system even the Lord commander but three might just be able to.
    Crwals had ten thousand years to work on the Primarus and I know the emperor didn't work on the space marines by himself he just push it faster then might have practical. The Primarus might just be the finished product because the emperor simply didn't have time to finish the them because he needed to launch the great crusade he did seem like he rushed a few things the emperor

  • @danreid1842

    IMO I can't see any primarch being mad about primaris. (To my knowledge) the primarchs know about the thunder warriors, and they know about the custodians both were better then standard space marines. Like it or not they're bio weapons, and since there is not a single legion that has not suffered defeat at one point or another, it's safe to say there is room for improvement. The anger if any would come from attachment to their sons.

      Yeah, I’m thinking the Emperor foresaw another alien race ready to conquer the galaxy once the warp storms blew over, and was in a race against time to beat them to the punch. That’s probably the basis of the Rangdan Xenocides, with the Imperium confronting that alien force. Had the Great Crusade started later, the Imperium would’ve probably lost that war.
