Also, you can make a very tasty and healthy syrup out of them if you harvest the young red-ish cones, it's something that's done only in parts of Romania from what I know, the syrup can help with sore throats and colds being high in vitamin C.

I'm 47 & have been fascinated by my pine trees these past few years. They make great mulch. The parts of the cone stay hard long enough to keep, but will degrade (yet keep their shape) after a handful of years. I like stacking the cones whole in corners, around/atop barriers, and all around my trees. Lizards like to sun on them, and they can easily scurry under to get away from my dogs. 😏 They open & close, so it allows for enough drainage that the mosquitoes don't take up residence. They change colors & texture depending on wherever there's sun & with age. The different shapes are fun to play with too. I hope you enjoy your cones!💞
