    They are producing super well for being so close, i can tell they crave alot more sunlight the way they are growing.

    High density planting helps protect trees during winter cold waves

    Dont newer groves keep trees at 8-ft with suitable spacing to allow easier picking and more lbs per acre?

    Do you see any long term issues with planting this close? Are they intending to keep them at a certain height? Thanks for the video!

    Reed is tropical or subtropical? And what about shelf life?

    Thanks for sharing. Those look like 20 ft trees. Where exactly in Southen CA is this? My Reed is recovering from root rot and next year we'll know for sure if it has fully recovered. If not, I have 2 Reeds in 30 inch planters ready to replace it.

    What is meant by "reed"?

    • @princessazula6161

      In this case Reed is referring to someone’s surname.

    I have a 6 footer with a dozen young fruits. I didn’t notice any young fruits in this Reed forest.

    • @gregalderdotcom
      @gregalderdotcom  4 місяці тому +1

      Sharp eye! You're right that there are few young fruit on these trees so there will be a much smaller crop to harvest next year.

    Reed Guacamole may need be as "creamy" as the best Hass, but it takes forever to turn black unlike Hass.

      Reed's are my favorite. Where I am in Northern Cal I see them most frequently in July-Aug. And yeah, they are very slow to spoil and larger than avg.

  • @almejia915

    How do they get them to grow straight up like that?

    • @gregalderdotcom
      @gregalderdotcom  4 місяці тому +1

      They were trained on those metal poles. Lateral branches were pruned as necessary. Reed is amenable to this style, more so than many other avocado varieties.
