In this video, we uncover the reasons why many talented truck drivers face difficulties securing jobs in recent times. Join us for an in-depth exploration of the roadblocks they encounter and discover potential solutions to overcome these challenges.
📆 Since 2020-2021, the trucking industry has witnessed a surge in aspiring drivers. With the allure of inflated income showcased on social media, everyone and their mama seem to want a piece of the action. However, the reality reveals a different story. I'll be sharing why the job market has become oversaturated and what it means for those seeking employment in this field.
🔒 The high insurance premiums impose a significant burden on both drivers and companies. A single mistake can cost a driver their job and make it difficult for them to find another opportunity. We'll discuss the implications of insurance costs and potential avenues to mitigate this challenge.
🚧 Lack of experience can be a major obstacle, as some drivers tend to manipulate their work history to secure employment. We'll touch on the consequences of such practices and explore alternative ways for novice drivers to gain experience and build their careers.
💼 Moreover, the availability of low-quality freight poses a serious dilemma for truck drivers. Some loads aren't financially viable once all the expenses are accounted for, leaving drivers struggling to make a decent profit. We'll shed light on this issue and suggest strategies to navigate the freight landscape more effectively.
👥 Networking plays a crucial role, and unfortunately, it's often overlooked. We'll emphasize the importance of building professional relationships within the industry, as it can open doors and provide invaluable opportunities for growth and job prospects.
⚙️ Additionally, being pigeonholed into one sector of the transportation industry can limit opportunities for drivers. We'll explore ways to diversify skills and expand horizons to unlock a broader range of job possibilities.
💼 Sometimes, a tarnished professional background can hinder the job search process. We'll offer advice on how drivers with unfavorable backgrounds can overcome this setback and increase their chances of securing employment.
✍️ Lastly, we'll address the importance of persistence and diligence in job hunting. Applying to an ample number of positions is crucial, as some drivers find success by submitting applications to numerous companies.

Smart move I’ve been in the industry for 10 years. Did car hauling for 5 years as a company driver then owner op car hauler. In 2020 I switched to tanker crude oil hauler and I couldn’t be happier. 120k a year, 10000 plus bonus every year, excellent healthcare, a long list of benefits, pension, 401k, great easy schedule, home every night. Lots of good jobs in the taker industry. Get your experience with who ever you can then look for a top company. Most the good ones want that 2 years pulling a tanker.

Do not rush into getting a truck, learn the industry first, learn how to fix your truck, learn the costs involved (fuel, maintenance ect). Run someone else's equipment down the road to get your experience
And please, under no circumstances get involved in a lease purchase from a large carrier, there is a reason why they are called Never Never plans, you never pay it off you will never own it. I personally know people who got ripped off doing this

I had a friend who made great mney with his first semi, bought a new one hired a guy who drove and took care of his old truck. There are too many CDL holders. I said what I said. We didn’t have a driver shortage. We had a pay shortage. We haven’t had a real recession in years and everyone jumped in to get covid money thinking it was going to be this way forever. Add social media to the mix and a 2023 recession… you have truckers having to sell their trucks and go back w2 if they are lucky.
With this being said the tanker and flatbed positions are still hiring. The new drivers mostly got hired into refer and dry van. The bigger Mega carriers don’t hire off the street to do tanker.
Also having standard transmission experience gets you into good jobs. Teams freight is still okay but not nearly like 2021, and food service is still doing good. But like I said. You won’t make any money in dry van right now. Foreigners run that freight

The reality of trucking is way different than the internets perspective & when most people realize that, they look elsewhere. I had a plan before I got into trucking. I got hazmat/tankers immediately. Most people don’t have a solid plan. Their vision isn’t clear so they get uninterested easily.

In most cases, "if something sounds too good/"easy" to be true, it probably is" 😉. I learned an important lesson throughout my 20 years in the military; "if it was easy, everyone would be doing it" 😉. Most jobs appear to be easy when you are looking from the outside into the inside. I highly recommend that a person do a ride along with a "couple" of experienced CDL drivers prior to making the decision to get their own CDL license, or a job driving for a living. Do your homework/put into practice the "Look before you leap" concept prior to investing your money and valuable time. This advice applies to all career fields 😉.

Not only that some of these companies that reel you in and do you dirty can screw you over too that's why it's Important to keep strong proof aka receipts to back you up. You can run into some companies that wanna talk it but don't wanna walk it . Perfect example start off nice a few weeks but show there true side of so if they try that Qualcomm mess get pics some DM dispatcher's can be low down @ times. Plus check with hire right too and make sure somebody didn't falsely add false information into you job history.

I did three leases down to the point where I couldn’t even pay bills. I never really had a chance to even buy my own truck. That’s why I went local, at least I know how much I’m going to get every week and it’s much more than stable.
