They are disadvantaged because they don't share presenting duties with him often enough, and thus lose out on his sublime art criticism on a regular basis...
Can't believe that they got Andy to break from his intensive training regime where he's preparing to take on Jane in the outside xbox Christmas challenge sponsored by Duracell
4:05 Luke engaging Santa in a hacking duel while the pompom on his tiny- I mean, "Ellen-sized" hat dangles wildly, reflecting his inner chaos... classic cinematography! * mwah *
1:06 if you look at Luke's body language when Ellen started boasting you can tell he really wanted to go full sibling mode and and push her away from boasting on camera 🤣🤣
Ellen absolutely crushed Christmas this year! She even managed to win over the notorious(ly questionable) art critic Andy (NOT Warhol)! Shocked Pikachu! Thanks for another great year of laughs, guys. I think I can speak for all of us when I say... we really needed them. oof. lol
Luke and Ellen discussing about Santa’s intricacies of knowing when you’re awake is phenomenal. And, Santa taking over every modern software sounds like a great idea for a movie.
This certainly had a much more cordial ending than last years Animal Crossing Pikachu…incident. Thanks for another wonderful year Ellen and Luke and everyone involved! Here’s to more great moments in 2022!
These Christmas challenges are seriously the best. But the one I always most look forward to, is the Pikachu challenge and Andy's judging of them. Congratulations Ellen, you nailed it this year and you deserve it! Better luck next year Luke. Love you guys. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!
Andy’s wearing a yellow tshirt to show his appreciation for Pikachu; thus his judgment for the art! Glad Ellen finally won the pikachu challenge this year.
"don't do it on the gnome, that's worse" and just like that, Ellen ruined Christmas AND had me roaring with laughter. Never change friends, never change.
Yeah, these games as art canvases are hilarious. I imagine one of these Xmases, the Pikachu drawing challenge will get so far from actual drawing, it'll be something like: "In HITMAN 3, murder several people and draw a Pikachu with the corpses of your fallen victims. Andy to critique as is tradition." Kinda wanna see that.
I have yet to watch the video, but I want to congratulate Luke on his point. So long as he doesn't dynamite Pickachu's face. Edit: I have been proven wrong and I agree with Andy's decision. Though Ellen's was a little busy. Happy Holidays!!
I loved both drawings, but I do agree with Andy's judgment. Either way, I always love seeing this challenge, it sometimes feels like a bigger event than the main competition. Merry Xmas Oxtra!
It's nice to see that Luke continues to live by his maxim "If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing half-arsed". Once again, congratulations to Ellen for a well deserved win this year.
Always love to hear Andy's Art opinions (and as always his judgement is Correct), one of my favorite Christmas tradition. Congratulations to Ellen, Queen of Christmas! ✨
What I love about the OXtra Pikachu drawing challenge is that neither Luke nor Ellen looks at a Pikachu for the whole rest of the year to remind themselves what one looks like. Very sporting.
i think they both did a great job on the pikachu's, send them in to the pokemon magazine. if there is only one challenge you want to win this is the one.
Andy usually loves experimental pikachus, pushing the boundaries of art. But I guess this was just one step too far. Well done Ellen, and Merry Christmas to all!
Feliz Navidad Oxtra! Thanks for these videos. They make my day and have become something I look forward to every year 😊 Hopefully 2022 will be better... PS: At 10:49 you can tell that Ellen doesn't forget. That kind of resentment only comes out in Christmas 😆
I would argue that the speach bubble brings Pikachu back to it's Manga roots. But in total I agree with Andy's judgement. Congrats to Ellen and to everyone at Oxboxtra I wish happy holidays
I love the implication that a Pikachu driven van apparently ran over a Mudsdale sized Pikachu. And judging by the state of the front grill, that Pikachu was full of... pikapoo.
I was just thinking how wholesome this all is... And then the Prime Vista Turbo 1500 nozzle came out to play. The naughty list is being revised as we speak for what happened to that poor gnome.
The true star of the "Draw-a-Pikachu" challenge is certainly Andy at this point. In fact, he's the one who should be getting the point, regardless of whose Pikachu is chosen. And, of course, Congratulations, Ellen, on winning this year's Christmas Challenge!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, Ellen, Luke, Producer John, and James! Thanks so much for all the laughs and content 💙 These challenges were so much fun
This is my favorite challenge every year because I can never decide which part I'm looking forward to more: the journey that is the creation or the destination that is the judgment of Andy (especially the performance of Andy)
If Luke hadn’t altered the tail of his, he could’ve gotten away with claiming it was a female pikachu ;) Next year, to throw them for a loop, instead of a Pikachu drawing challenge it should be a pika-clone drawing challenge. ;p
During the creation of a drawing of a cartoon animal, if ever there comes a point where you must ask yourself "Is this a Garf?" it's generally best practice to give up and start over. Not Luke, though. He powers through it. Or... power washes through it, I suppose.
The night before y’all posted this, I had a nightmare that you just did something else for the last day and didn’t even bother with a pikachu drawing challenge this year and I was absolutely distraught when I woke up. Glad to see that it was NOT a strange prophetic dream and that one of my all time favourite Christmas traditions lived on this year. Merry Christmas y’all, and thanks for an amazing year of videos!!!
I was glad Ellen had already won before going in as she usually gets absolutely robbed on Pikachu art, but omg smashed it. Excellent Christmas run, and Ellen's sweater is great. 💚💛
I love Outside Xtra and Oxbox but above all else, Art Critic Andy is the best thing on the channels and it's not Christmas without a Pikachu appraisal by him
Merry Christmas! Thank you for another year of challenges to keep us all entertained/sane. Congratulations to Ellen, the Christmas Queen, long may she reign. 🎄👑
(Arts & Culture section writer voice) I remain in opposition to the placement of the arms inside the body, as they invariably look like bosoms every time this decision is made by the competing artists. However, upon consulting with the canonical appearance of Pikachu, particularly the tail, I find myself in agreement with Andy that Ellen's was the better portrayal, in my eyes due to its higher level of accuracy and lack of Garfield eyes. I encourage both competitors to spend the entirety of 2022 doing absolutely nothing other than committing a canonical image of Pikachu to memory, so that this time next year, we may see an accurate anatomical study of the creature. Merry, as they say, Christmas.
A fun way you could have done this to make it even more challenging. Draw Pikachu with negative space. So rather than cleaning the lines to show the pikachu, you clean everything but the lines
Redemption after that year that Ellen got super mad and livid that her Pikachu didn't win XD I will never forget that probably XD Go Ellen! Kicking butt and taking names!
16:33 --- "Okay.... Okay. Yeah, there's Pikachu. And there's Pikachu's---- oh no." XD Of course, whether it's for the cute fluff or for nightmare fuel, this Christmas Challenge won't be complete without a Pikachu Drawing Challenge. Congrats once again to Ellen and here's greeting you all the most blessed and joyous of Christmas. 🎉🎉 🎄🎄🎄 🎉🎉
There's something surreal and hilarious about Andy referring to Ellen and Luke as, "disadvantaged content creators." 😂
They are disadvantaged because they don't share presenting duties with him often enough, and thus lose out on his sublime art criticism on a regular basis...
His art is dispassionate, and *he* is dispassionate.
Andy works very hard to make sure they're disadvantaged. Remember when he wouldn't allow them on the Oxbox Chair??
@@SevCaswell for sure 🤣
To be fair outside xbox basically gave them a channel and viewers. That seems pretty advantaged to me.
My favorite part of this challenge is just Andy's portrayal of an art critic.
"If he gets it, he'll be delighted. But if he DOESN'T get it, he'll be angry and confused."
Me, every day, about everything.
Good thing Angry Farrant didn't show to judge the Pikachus.
Not writing "Jane here, I need your vote" on the side was a bad misstep.
It seems neither the Jane meta, the Shrek meta nor the Sonic meta invaded the Pikachu challenge ...yet.
@@orsolyafekete7485 The pikachu meta is too powerful. It exists within and above all others.
I want a whole movie about Andy the Art critic.
Where he must stop the notorious Pikachu defiler from ruining the good name of Pikachu everywhere
It’s called Scrooged
Can't believe that they got Andy to break from his intensive training regime where he's preparing to take on Jane in the outside xbox Christmas challenge sponsored by Duracell
... Optimum
Which are still full, still full
4:05 Luke engaging Santa in a hacking duel while the pompom on his tiny- I mean, "Ellen-sized" hat dangles wildly, reflecting his inner chaos... classic cinematography! * mwah *
*"Luke engaging Santa in a hacking duel"*
_Only in Outside Xtra._

Ellen’s victory is grand, but I do hope y’all take on ox in charades and take them down this season
YES. Also I'll be back to give this a thumbs up later, right now it's at 69 and I just... can't be the one to change that.
@@GriffinWolf oops. Eurogamer would be disappointed in me
I thought of charades didn't happen since 2018(...?)
When do they usually happen
@@gothmissstress if that is so, I am saddened and feel betrayed by my UA-cam history having tricked me into false hope

"Or by the whole cat?"
Raises his eyebrows, moving headband forwards.
Beautiful. A moment of masterpiece.
Congratulations Ellen! I’m happy this year was less controversial for Andy and his 100% objective art criticism.
Luke and Ellen discussing about Santa’s intricacies of knowing when you’re awake is phenomenal. And, Santa taking over every modern software sounds like a great idea for a movie.
A gleeful Ellen hugging a dispassionate Andy is too wholesome.
This certainly had a much more cordial ending than last years Animal Crossing Pikachu…incident.
Thanks for another wonderful year Ellen and Luke and everyone involved! Here’s to more great moments in 2022!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!
"Instead of a Dark Lord, you shall have a Queen!" - Ellen, probably
🤗🤗🤗 Merry Christmas everyone!
That's our Ellen...beautiful and terrible. All will love her and despair.
Andy walks in. “Not a bad Snorlax. [pause] Why are you two crying? That was a compliment.”
I have finally seen Ellen win Pikachu drawing and she looked just so happy xD
She has won it in the past iirc, I don't remember what year though so have fun!
@@psoma_brufd She won in the Red Dead Redemption year.
@@MatthewDoel32 thanks.
@@MatthewDoel32 Luke quite literally blew that one, so maybe she felt it wasn't really earned :P
Ellen gains strength with every fear academy she does, gradually becoming invincible

Your wording put the weirdest image into my mind. Now I'm just picturing Ellen as Omni-Man beating the crap out of Earth.
Andy’s wearing a yellow tshirt to show his appreciation for Pikachu; thus his judgment for the art! Glad Ellen finally won the pikachu challenge this year.
Luke is right, that wiggly nozzle is obscene and it's impossible to describe why it is so
I’ve worked these devices for a living before and can confirm, you feel like an absolute giga pervert screwing that thing on
To me the tight circles look like they're meant to stimulate a specific very small part of some people's anatomy.

@@griffinraynor8425 I think the fact that the spray is moving on its own also makes it look alive/biological, like it's wee or something.

I haven't watched yet but I just want to say art critic Andy's decision is always completely correct

Lowkey wish Luke got it for no explicable reason purely because that decision would've been an absolute travesty
My friend, you might be chaotic neutral...and I'm here for it
Final score: Ellen 5, Luke 1, Birdo 1
🤣🤣🤣

Come for the traditional Pikachu art contest stay for Luke & Ellen making a power washer seem downright dirty 0:10:58.
Anyone else think this was Luke's attempt at sabotaging Ellen, once more making her laugh until she was unable to hold the controller steady?
@@GriffinWolf he would have been sabotaging himself because he was going first
@@CodaBlairLucarioEmperor But I mean... you saw the bike race yesterday, right??

I just love how well of a duo you guys are, everything u say just flows from one to the other so easily. Such great friendship
Looking forward to The Year of the Ellening- congrats to Christmas Queen Ellen and Court Jester Luke. Happy Holidays everyone!
Ellens first bonus pikachu looks almost like surprised pikachu.
Yes. Yes. What we all knew Powerwash simulator would be used for this glorious glorious purpose.
I think it perfectly sums up the ability to draw Pikachu to point out that Luke's first head probably was a better shape for Pikachu than his second
Andy usually loves experimental pikachus, pushing the boundaries of art. But I guess this was just one step too far. Well done Ellen, and Merry Christmas to all!
Ellen's sounds of concentration while doing the eyes reminds me of a parrot of my acquaintance's very fun game of just saying 'hu!' back and forth.
"Andy won't accept a small cheek." Based on experience, it seems like Andy won't accept any more cheek at all at this point :P

I think what Ellen was going for on the side of the van was "Surprised Pikachu", but she didn't want to admit it.
