BTW, I am here HOWLING with laughter at these two's antics. You guys are right - in the context of broad, knowingly dumb, borderline pantomime physical comedy, this is BRILLIANT.
Upon joining the army in the early 60s the camp dentist promptly removed almost all of my dads teeth for no apparent reason. Apparently it was a thing back then
"Ladies and gentlemen....My name is...PAUL HEYMAN!! And, I'm here to represent the most beautifully technical comedy tag team: CcccAAATTTWEAZEL AND GGAAYYYYLLOORRDDD PEACOCK!!" "I just have one thing to say....ACKNOWLEDGE ME!!!"
You guys have really found a great niche reviewing all this World of Sport wrestling. It's fascinating hearing the backstories of people like Steve Peacock and having them put into a more mainstream context i.e. explaining the connection with Regal. Top stuff, gents - I found this channel over the weekend and I've been thoroughly enjoying all the World of Sport videos.
I remember that match. Oh, my disappeared youth! I think that may have been the week they had a cartoon in the joke section of the Beano of 2 wrestlers standing behind the curtain waiting to go on, their gowns saying "terrible turk," and "Moscow mauler." Ones saying to the other, "That's odd, I'm from Wigan as well!" Good week for juvenile humour!😂
In the age of cynical 'let's watch crap on purpose' content, it's refreshing to see guys genuinely appreciating something 99% of their peers would go to lengths to shit all over. It's what also makes OSW so good, and you guys have it here. Never once is the match talked down to or about for being silly, but rather appreciated and lauded for it. As one Mr. Stephen 'V1' Roe might put it 'it's silly wrestling bollocks, and I love it.' Also, was Catweazel the John Cena of his time? Discuss.
I am so glad you guys introduced me to the wonderful world of Catweazle! I watched the first episode of the tv series the other day after seeing your video about the wrestler and the show he nicked his gimmick from. Funny stuff! Catweazle's escape into the 20th century allowed the conquest of England by the Normans! It was all his fault for running like a baby! And the wrestler is tops! I never get tired of watching his antics now! Can't wait to see more of Catweazle!
Fucking hilarious! The leg crawl thing for the pin by catweasel was a nice touch and i felt like he was trolling Gaylord again cuz he did the little leg crawl thing during a backslide pin earlier
I hope you fellas know, between the Intro and outro jingle..... and kamala "all the places I been" I cant them out of my head! Binge watching the channel probably hasn't helped! Great stuff fellas! Good vibes and love from Pennsylvania u.s.a.!
THANK YOU!!!!! Thank you for introducing me to Catwessle ! I loved this, I've been watching wrestling for 40yrs, I would have loved to see this when I was a kid..Thank you guys for intro me to British Wrestling!
Only just discovered this channel and you are both absolutely hilarious to listen to. Now listening to the podcast on spotify, keep up the awesome work!
My gran was of the generation where she had them all out in her twenties to save on dental treatment later in life, yep that was actually a thing in the UK in the 50s
Jan 1980 I was 4 years old and remember the teeth coming out and laughing my little head off. That has to be one of my earliest memories, so glad I found this video! That and a yellow potty in the kitchen!
You two wonderful people have brought me so much joy in recent weeks with these amazing videos, but this appreciation of Catweazle is the absolute finest and funniest of the lot!
Only recently found this channel and loving it, great content and so funny - more on British wrestling please, and surely Mick McManus’s suspect hair deserves an episode?
I've been watching your videos for a while now and catweazel has become my new favorite wrestler. I heard the name but never seen him and he's the best.
When it's done right, World of Sport style comedy wrestling sits perfectly in that British seaside pantomime style, and this is definitely it being done right. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and taken out of context it just seems a bit, or a lot, naff, but when you're present, you'll almost certainly enjoy it anyway. It's why I don't think US comedy wrestling works as well, it's basically spots sprinkled into a regular match to seem "zany", for comedy wrestling to work, in my opinion, you basically have to commit to it and make it the thing that ties the match together. Exotic Adrian Street, who was British, or, much as they used to annoy me, the Bushwackers in the WWF seemed to come closest to managing it in the US - probably as they grew up wrestling in New Zealand and Australia, who wrestle in a way much closer to the World of Sport style.
Just two of many comedy highlights in this match - 7.18 - Catweazle's false teeth falling out, lol! 9.41 - The 10-seconds of criss-cross, followed by Catweazle stopping to catch his breath, lol!
This is great stuff. You guys at Wrestle Me should set up "An evening with xxx meets Wrestle Me" - I'm sure it would be a great event. Interviews/funny clips etc. Maybe get Regal or Finlay or even one of the big American stars.
Also home to Big Daddy & Davey Boy Smith vs Mick McManus & Steve Logan mk1 in 1979 and Klondyke Kate's 1988 British Ladies title win from the BBC2 Raging Belles docu.
That was awesome! I went to a WWF house show in 1999 and the last match of the night was a good comedy spot like this. I wish they would do it more on the main shows. The funny kinda carnie style wrestling seems to almost be a lost art.
11:47 my late grandad, an experienced photographer, must have had every manual and guide for picture composition or camera tech going. And he actually read most of them. Funny thing is that he arguably got less creative and prolific as a photog after studying them. Makes you think.
I think Jim would actually like it, he knows a bit about British wrestling and would realise that there was a place on the card for this sort of match, yes it is comedy but Catweezle knew how to work a match and the crowd
@@kurtvanderbogarde8402 Oh its great again now ! But it died for a long stretch in between . Dont get me wrong , I LOVE the hard hitting and mat based style of British wrestling . It just hit a lull there for several years were World of Sports lost its tv and such . Rollerball Rocco was the man !!!!

Catweazle looks how I'd imagine the press manager for Jethro Tull would look.
I never thought about it, but yeah your right 😅😅😅😅😅
Why is this so accurate? 🤣
Holy shit...lmao I spit coffee reading this. Perfect idead haha
Pretty sure he was one of their drummers..😂
In the span of 2 videos, with no prior knowledge of his existence, Catweazle has become my favorite British wrestler of all time!
A thousand thank you's from a Yank across the pond for this follow up on the mysterious Catweazle. This is pure gold.
"Don't be shy, your Mother wasn't!" That is comedy gold.
I'm going to use it every chance I get today

Oh man, Gaylord Peacock and Catweazle as WWE Tag Team Champions in Universe mode on WWE 2K23?......YES PLEASE!!!

This is now my favourite UA-cam channel. Chuffin hilarious 😂
Mark has a thing with things/people looking like they stink. 😆
I've noticed that.

Would need to hear the Cat spit some bars to make a fair assessment.

I'd love to hear your two's take on Les Kellet Vs Johnny Czeslaw
8:59 that woman is iconic, incredible. She doesn't care, she's living her best life.
They used to call an old lad down the pub catweazle and I never knew the reference lol
I read on ask reddit uk that in the olden days that people had false teeth for financial reasons because of the cost of dental care back then.

I've been trying to tell folks about the Catweazle, but they think I'm crazy. You guys get it!

i love this channel!
I think Catweazle looks more like Worzel Gummage than stickman
I love this match. I watched it for the first time a couple of years ago and I laughed harder than I had for a very long time
Just two of many comedy highlights in this match -
7.18 - Catweazle's false teeth falling out, lol!
9.41 - The 10-seconds of criss-cross, followed by Catweazle stopping to catch his breath, lol!
I once saw Gary Cooper (Catweezle) in the bar of fairfield hall after the the show, he was dressed more like medallion man

Royal Spa Centre Leamington Spa, Local venue to me. Still running All Star shows in the late 2010s
Also home to Big Daddy & Davey Boy Smith vs Mick McManus & Steve Logan mk1 in 1979 and Klondyke Kate's 1988 British Ladies title win from the BBC2 Raging Belles docu.
Love the channel, I will do all I can to help you guys get to the 3 millions subs you deserve.
This is a hoot! I too have instantly become a Catweasel fan.
Gaylord Peacock. You really couldn't make this up lol
looks like a cross between chris jericho and greg valentine 🤣🤣😂😂
I really want these guys to review breaking ground for the regal impressions alone

Talking of comedy wrestlers, search for early sixties French TV clips of Quasimodo a heel from Spain.
(He was also on ITV but prints of his matches are currently under lock and key at Granada TV.)
Is it just me or does Peacock resemble a little version of Greg The Hammer Valentine?
That’s the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life
If Catweazle ever faces someone that's not ticklish that dude is so fucked lolol
1:03 the soil he did crawl! A super suit did fall!
I watch these to goto sleep and Catweazle because part of my dream.
That guy looks like Paddy the baddy Pemblitt.
Bet Triple H is glad he never fell out that much with Vince; otherwise he may have ended up as Triple Gaylord😅
Tiny Gaylord VS Long Catweasel
*BRAZZERS*
I can see why Catweasle was my dads favourite ever wrestler.
Catweazle in my home town, Awsome!
5:13 Did you guys see Toni Storm do this spot in AEW?
But there is no mouse😂
He was trying to rob the mag🤷🏼♂️
That crowd looks early for bingo.
Is there are record of what sort of money a mid card wrestler earned per night back then? £30?
11:15 haha that was my channel
Catweasel is Britain's version of Pete "Duke of Dorchester" Dougherty.🤣😉
C'mon lads, you know none of those ladies in the crowd were a day over 65.
Brilliant entertainment.
11:47 my late grandad, an experienced photographer, must have had every manual and guide for picture composition or camera tech going. And he actually read most of them. Funny thing is that he arguably got less creative and prolific as a photog after studying them. Makes you think.
It’s like tasteful grooming of elder gay man to a young gay man
But this is TOO BRITISH and I’m mostly British
I was lucky to be a 60s kids and saw every episode of wrestling at 4 on world of sport. 1000 times better than tna, wwf, wwe,wc,and all the other shite
I'm a Catweazle fan and he really doesn't get the credit he deserves.
Catweazel's suit was made from the front room curtains. Also there was Books and a TV programme called Catweazel.
PC Wife working stiff.
Do u guys remember a black british wrestler called kid chocolate or hot chocolate? Think he was from bradford and owned a pub.
Catweazle for WWE Hall of Fame?
Catweazle goldust tag team
I really want to hear Jim Cornette's take on this match lol.
I think Jim would actually like it, he knows a bit about British wrestling and would realise that there was a place on the card for this sort of match, yes it is comedy but Catweezle knew how to work a match and the crowd
Catweazle is better then Abby Jane in everything, Abby Jane is a unfunny comedy wannabe wrestler.
Catweasle was crap. I saw him live once and that was enough. Never rated him as a wrestler at all.
Its no wonder British wrestling died out then .
