Bro, the beauty of the Fast and Furious franchise, is that they _always_ play it straight. Something I hated about the Expendables films, is that they wanted too badly to be in on the joke. In F&F, the filmmakers know that what they're making is silly, but they don't wink-and-nod at the audience the whole time. Instead, they just have fun with this zany world that these characters inhabit. Just consider the fact that the team went from boosting electronics, to becoming international criminals, and finally saving the world.
Yeah, they play it TOO straight though in the later films. To the point where it feels like I'm watching a big cheesy bravado-fest. That fight with Dwayne vs Diesel in the barrios was ridiculously corny specifically because both actors decided to put in their contract clauses of not taking any serious losses in their fights. Watch every run in they've ever had. Neither of them ever get a one-up on another, they just stalemate each other. Once or twice, fine, but not carrying on through multiple films. I'd like to see them come back to storytelling like 2F2F. That mooviie still feels like a summer blockbuster that just came out.
Fun fact: the actress that played Suki in 2 fast 2 furious, Devon Aoki, is Steve Aoki’s half sister. Which isn’t fast but it’s pretty furious. By which I mean she’s pretty. If you catch my Tokyo Drift.
Loved your positivity towards this game, sometimes it's easier to jump on the wagon that makes fun of the game just because of obvious flaws that everyone pounded on before. So it's very comforting that this game was a good experience for you and you expressed it here

Going by the Steam reviews, the PC Port is, as you'd probably expect, awful, with no way to change the keybinds for anything and it apparently doesn't even tell you what they are, with it fully expecting you to use a controller; some people even say there are no keyboard controls at all. You should probably make sure you have a controller and, to be perfectly honestly, probably just shouldn't buy the game, I feel like watching the cutscenes on UA-cam would get you most of the same fun.
Having played this game I almost entirely agree with you. Something that stood out to me tho was after one mission, the cutscene ends with Dom going “I’m gonna find a race” and he just disappears until the next mission
Whenever I see gameplay of this I'm heavily reminded of 007: Blood Stone. The driving parts looking nearly identical and the graphics and character models are really similar. Blood Stone came out in 2010...

10:28 I think they were expecting you to go directly to the checkpoint instead of cutting through. But put a trigger point that reaches that far out anyway and put you back on track. I don't think it's a glitch so much as they want you to follow that path. At least that's what it looks like considering you get put down right in front of a checkpoint.

Wow, it’s incredible I barely noticed the switch from the PS4 to the PS2 game. I mean, there are some differences like the lack of particles, flat buildings and back windshield, but it took me a while to notice.
Oof, SpyHunter mentioned. I played that game a bit a small while back (legit disc with me PS2). And with 007 Racing, knowing how to utilize R2 button is pretty great, have to say that.
I just finished watching all of the movies for the first time and this game came out at the perfect time...once the winter sale starts. It'll fill time until F9 comes out when the plague ends.

I really loved spyhunter for the ps2 idek why. There was a need for speed mmo for a while You could drive around and start races with other players I really liked it but Nitros was a consumable that you could continuously use. The easiest way to get them was with real money so it it wasn't so fun
Honestly I wanna try this game more since I do enjoy bad games but since this was made for hardcore F&F I could possibility enjoy this more and hopefully some of these issues can get fix and patch

Wow, it’s incredible I barely noticed the switch from the PS4 to the PS2 game. I mean, there are some differences like the lack of particles, flat buildings and back windshield, but it took me a while to notice.

You could drive around and start races with other players I really liked it but Nitros was a consumable that you could continuously use.
