Haha… what happens in real life is that I get my friends to help by letting me use their garages, tools and their time and then I’m trying to shoot a video at the same time, holding everything back… 🤣 their preferred method of payment is beer so they want to get it over with
@@HilariousHomeVideo i went at it wrongfully: in plain English, a faulty alternator will often give you signs of deterioration before it completely fails: dimmed lights, a dead battery after sitting for not too long etc. in my case it was the starter but I failed to diagnose it properly.
You can't disconnect the battery with the engine running on newer cars to test the alternator. If yo do you risk damaging the computer and other components in the electrical system.
Man I laughed so hard when you cussed over the oil.. lol no idea why it was so funny to me.

You don’t need to remove the power steering pump to take out the alternator.
Unfortunately I felt like we had to. 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah as long as you got it out somehow haha. I managed to just remove one of the radiator fans and was able to sneak it out.
How do we perform the simple test? Simply just remove the positive terminal and then check to see if the car can start? Or how do we do it exactly?
With the car running, remove the positive and if the car dies, the alternator is not charging.
You can also do a volt meter test but the easiest one is removing the positive terminal with the car running
@@JuanCarlosLTO Thanks Juan! Will try that out before I buy a new alternator!

@@JuanCarlosLTO I let my car run and removed the positive terminal and the car was still running. What else could it be?

That’s how old I am 🤣. You’re probably right, I should have done my due diligence before passing ill advice.
Anyone wondering the Acura csx has the exact same alternator as the tsx not a Honda civic.
Common battery drainage comes from the Bluetooth phone device under the passanger side panel
Yes! I disconnected it that very same night as replacing the alternator didn’t fix the problem. It happened to be the starter.
