"The Ginger Avenger" is definitely the best line to come out of the DLC, it's such a perfect name for Aloy and I hope it gets a small mention in the third game just like "Aloy despite the Nora"
That was SAM?! I had no idea! Gods, that man has such a range. Have you seen the video of him reciting the Sith Code in the voices of all the Sith he's played? He's an insanely talented voice actor.
I mean, I can quote some of the lines from memory all these months later. "I will build a new world, adored by my loyal followers! While you choke on FALLOUT! ...right until Nemesis rips apart your PATHETIC PLANET!"
Walter Londra appears to be inspired by a number of real-life figures. As he owns a number of entertainment industries including franchise-based theme parks, he is comparable with the American entertainment mogul Walt Disney. His eccentricity and aerospace assets draw comparison with business magnate Howard Hughes. His ownership of his world's first private space program seems to emulate tech CEO Elon Musk.
his relationship with the actress seemed to have Musk/Grimes parallels too - the team knew exactly what they were doing when they created Londra i think!
I know the game's makers deliberately left the story within the Pangea franchise blank. But I can't help but try and imagine what the story of those holofilms were. Also I suspect the makers are big Jurassic Park fans, not just because of the holofilms and the park but the area with the slughterspine and thunderjaw in close enough proximity to fight each other, bringing to mind the fight scene from Jurassic Park 3. Even the introduction of the slughterspine brought up some nostalgic feelings. I was always awed by the t-rex in the films by it apex-predator status. Thin in JP 3 as they said "Is that a t-rex." "No, sounds bigger." I thought "Woah, there's something bigger and worse then a t-rex!?" And throughout the first game the thunderjaw was the same, until the slughterspine came along and I had the same reaction.
From some of the info we get from the collectibles, with the dinosaur fighting and them coming from portal, it reminds me of a Uk show from a couple years ago with a similar premise called Primeval.
I felt deprived that we didn't had a chance to interrogate Londra about his life, Far Zeniths' challenges on Sirius, about Nemesis. Right before we almost defeat him, just make him talk a little. It felt the same way as when Aloy missed the chance to tell Tilda that Ted was actually alive for these 1000 years, it would be just funny to see the reaction. Same with Nova, I think she could've been of help and also she could befriend with GAIA if AI can do such thing.
There’s no reason why sufficiently advanced AI can’t be friends with each other. There able to communicate effectively and feel empathy for humans, just as we saw with Gaia and CYAN, forming friendships with humans and whatnot. So i see no reason why they couldn’t do the same with each other
I think it's pretty funny how Horizon is mocking the Jurassic Park film series with Pangea. Those holo dinos look so fake compared to the machines based on same extinct animals and even Londra thought the franchise was a soulless crash grab. Heck, Evelyn is basically pretending to be the badass robot dinosaur hunter that Aloy is in real life. It's pure prehistoric irony. 🦖
Additionally, this franchise being made decades in the future, would also mean that these stereotypical Dino depictions are even more out of date then they are now. This is like the equivalent of Jurassic World showing off Dinos as being as slow, sluggish, dim witted, and hardly bird like, as we once thought a century ago
@@lochness5524 Tell me about it. I always hated that Jurassic World didn't bother to update their old dinosaur designs from the previous trilogy to be more scientifically accurate. I don't care if that would have been "non-canonical". You're filling children's heads with lies for peat's sake!
@@vantagepoint9270 Doesn't matter to me. Steven Spielberg has always valued awesome over accuracy. You can defend JWD all you want, but good animation and special effects don't make up for poor story structure.
@@maxleroux as much as I’m glad they made some attempt to make them more accurate, your right, it doesn’t make up for shit storytelling. Plus, even when they had feathers, they still didn’t bother with accuracy, like with Pyroraptor being a swimmer. Not that I’m saying it didn’t swim rl (modern large flightless birds and even larger non-avian theropods being an example), but that specific manner like a penguin just doesn’t make sense for an animal with this body plan and lifestyle. This is like expecting a cheetah to be capable of swimming through water the same way a Sea Lion could do. Not to mention the Oviraptor that was eating a egg, and having multiple species from different places and times for the prologue. Also, I never thought I’d have to go on about innacuracies for Horizon of all things, seeing as there robots so there was never any point in comparing them to their rl organic counterparts
I both hate and love hearing about Horizon lore because it's like the creators actually put a lot of thought and effort into everything. It feels very much like how our civilization will be in a few decades assuming nothing *too* radical happens (like AI completely destroying us or something)
I love these, but i would have liked a deeper dive into the sad spiral of his relationship with his wife. My impression of their story is quite different from what was shown here. She was not abandoned by him. She hated him, and everything about him (at the time). She had an affair with Jack, but even after that he still would have taken her back, and with him to the stars. He still loved her even after returning to earth. Lamenting her loss. I mean, a whole huge sub plot is him finding a stand in for her. She was the one thing that his money and power could not buy.
Another great vid of an even greater creator! Hoping you make theories of the companies we’ll delve into on H3 - particularly Gideon. They’re hinted as Faro’s main rival by Londra, and I bet my 2 ¢ they’ll be key against Nemesis!
It's not really a competition since they're both egotistical maniacs but Ted Faro is still the worst. He destroyed the world, funded to help save it, realized it would all come back to him in the future and then proceeded to not only attempt to kill off the entire project to preserve a future for humanity but purged literally all knowledge from the past just so he didn't look like a bad guy
Once again my fellow Banuk did it again another phenomenal video and lore quest interpretation. May the Blue light guide you my friend @RandomSideQuest
Yes Finally you made one about this character! I was looking this in your channel but it was only mentioned few times in the quen explanation video. Thanks
Another great summary! Walter Londra is an interesting character and a great opponent. Sam Witwer does an excellent job! The only thing I would criticize is that he is again very stereotypical. Completely self-centered, possessive and without any morals. On the other hand, we see our billionaires going in that direction, too. It may be that the Far Zenith are all crazy because they live so long, but somehow the authors make it too easy for themselves. I just wish for more realism for part 3. The immortality and Nemesis itself are much more futuristic and SciFi compared to Zero Dawn and the Faro Plague (the scenario does not need 40 more years to be realistic), and I still struggle with this storyline.
yea i dont think Londra being a caricature is too much of a problem when our real life billionaires are basically walking parodies of themselves anyway!
Two issues with asteroids in the lore. One is that any single asteroid brought into Earth orbit (which as the lore states had multiple serious issues in and of itself) or mined for resources to bring back to Earth is going to essentially crash that resources market, not generate huge profits. Second is there would be few if any humans sent out to do the jobs as automation is far advanced enough you'd only need a couple of supervisors, (likely an odd number to prevent deadlock decisions) to oversee the machines doing the work. It's a truism of space flight that the most expensive and delicate "payloads" to send into space are humans and their support systems.
So how do you get in touch with the composers over at Horizon to let them know that Aloys theme was literally stolen and used as one of the battle themes in Forspoken? Composers are not shared and credits were never given I'm surprised no one else has caught on to this yet shows how much people have actually played for spoken for some reason this clip happened to remind me of it
Bear McCreary was the composer of the music in that game. I don’t think Guerrilla would have any interest in pursuing such a lawsuit against a beloved game composer such as him.
@Phreemunny makes no difference stolen copyrighted material is still stolen copyrighted material he's not the only composer who has done this and other ones have gotten in trouble just because his name is a little bigger doesn't mean that he still shouldn't suffer the same consequences.... the entire Horizon team over at Guerilla took risks Beyond risk to make that Horizon series and people should not be stealing their material no matter how big they think their name is... another composer worked hard on that piece and deserves credit for it where credit is due
@@chuckrichardson83 -I’m not arguing whether they SHOULD pursue a lawsuit; I’m telling you why they probably won’t. BTW; do you have a link to the song you’re talking about? I’m curious now.
I find myself favoring Ted Faro, Londra and all the supposed villains far more than anyone else in the story. Burning Shores was a far inferior DLC to The Frozen Wilds in my opinion. I played through the latter several times and would do so again, but the Burning Shores... once was enough.
Another victim of devs idiotic vision. So kuch potential, wasted. Because they wanted to portray all on zeniths as a caricature villains. I think devs have unhealthy love for the savages living in a new earth. Well, their savages are literally boring to be cheered, even any not main faction in the fallout, it more interesting then any similar tribes from horizon.
Burning Shores really is the weakest point in an ever decreasing quality line. Constant feature creep, a story that start nowhere and went even further nowhere and characters never once mentioned now seemingly super important. And the storyline? Some guy starts a cult? GG have blown their note in HFW and they have shown it here. There is no story left and the next game is going to be very weak in terms of story and plot.

I liked that name too, especially when paired with the Shadow Carja armor. I always thought it made her look like a badass superhero.
Had to stop playing for a good minute after hearing that😂 Londra is such a diva but the man is undoubtedly creative.
I'd see Aloy eventually making a book titled "Aloy, my life as a Seeker". Essentially she identifies more with her role as a Seeker than the Nora.
Love Horizons naming conventions. Asteroids named out of Shakespearian characters is great.
Sam Witwer did a great job with this character, IMO.
