Former Funeral Director here. Just wanna explain why she left him $1 in her will. If her husband was left out of the will, he would have had the rights to contest the will by claiming "she just forgot''. Since she left him only $1, she can prove she did not forget about him, and that he really does get nothing.
Fascinating! Thank you
⁴êww2⅔⁰⁰⁰⁰0⁰
Huh! I always kind of wondered why that is a thing. Good to know! 🤣 Thanks!
Couldn't they just write in the will, "I did not forget this person, I'm choosing to leave them nothing."? Then they wouldn't even have to leave the dollar.

Update on the "Lady of the Dunes": In late 2022 she was identified as Ruth Marie Terry, age 37 at her death. I believe her killer has also been found.
Yep, none of the theories were right 😅 also this comment should be higher, if you read this, like it! that way more people find out that it was indeed finally solved thanks (in part) to internet sleuths and content creators like Ryan and Shane bringing it into the public consciousness again 😊
You're correct about her identity but unfortunately her killer has not been definitively identified. They believe it was her husband at the time, who had disappeared after his previous wife and daughter were brutally murdered, but he died in 2002 and they have no evidence except that they married a month or two before it happened. Hadden Clark confessed to the crime and had a lot of evidence that he did it but they never officially charged him since he's suspected to falsely admit to crimes.
Ok thank the heavens
As of today, they officially closed the case and stated Guy Muldavin, her former husband, committed the murder

my favourite fact about edgar allen poe: he wrote his poems with his cat either nearby or on his shoulder. her name was catterina, and some sources say she was a tortoiseshell, while others say she was a black cat and the inspiration for his story "the black cat." personally, i think the tortoiseshell has more evidence, but both are super cute.
ANYWAY. while writing, he looked to catterina for approval. if she was purring, he kept what he had written. if not, he would retry.

I’m a coroner. It’s common for hair to be left on the skull after decomposition. Hair follicle are in the subcutaneous tissues and when those tissue decompose, it acts like glue which in turns sticks the hair to the skull. (Hair does not decompose)
I can also be a coroner. It's filling out paperwork. Being a medical examiner requires school.
@@mnschoen bro what
coroners/morticians/funeral directors/etc. go to school too? also they're doing far more than paperwork, they're performing autopsies and/or embalming bodies which requires extensive knowledge in human anatomy and decomposition among other things
what happens to the hair??
@mnschoen You're actually not wrong. Hair can decompose, but it takes longer. Certain environments can cause it to decompose quicker. And technically speaking a coroner does not need to have medical training like a medical examiner does. However, a coroner is still an important job. And they can determine very important information, and given years and experience can give vital information, to fairly add.

Something interesting about Poe and his wife is, they were never intimate and actually had a more platonic and sibling like relationship.
It's odd, but it also makes me not view Poe as this creep targeting a child. The fact that they married is weird, but their relationship was never romantic.
Right.... while indeed being weird, people did marry for protection and financial reasons regardless of age gaps
Not romantic or creepy at all, just sad
Knowing this I'm thinking they could have married so she'd have more rights and wasn't forced to marry some old creep that WOULD have forced her to be intimate.

In the 1920s that was certainly possible but laws today prevent this as they are required to present evidence that can be verified by the lawyers. Of course, it ain't right, but until now there are groups of people who marry their cousins, all around the world. 🤷🏽♀️
Ryan getting so hyped about the Baltimore ravens revelation is everything I needed today
Going back to the gravesite is like checking your mailbox in the afterlife. You don't hang out, you just drop by every now and then.
So how do you teleport as a ghost? Or do you just drift from place to place? What if your house is in a different state than your gravesite?

"Chicago deep-dish dentistry' is a legitimately funny joke.
Rabies...rabies killed him. He was a cat lover and was known to be constantly caring for strays. When he was dying he was suffering from hydrophobia and was in a manic state. Bloodshot eyes but not from drinking.

so glad someone else found this very very comment worthy
Glad to find this comment, that was hilarious lol
Lol🤣
I feel like with Thelma Todd, her chauffeur could've been a suspect. It would make sense.
the chauffeur could link to a range of people- he could have his own motive or someone could’ve tipped him off to do something or just to turn a blind eye to someone else hurting her.
Though you are correct, she was rich and famous so they very likely investigated him and found proof he was not involved.
You could be right- honestly the Thelma Todd case has so many potential suspects/paths
I also feel like the carbon monoxide poisoning could have caused her to cough hard enough to break her ribs. It happens with pneumonia patients. Just a side thought.
@@lindsayanthony6819 Well. After going down a rabbit hold about pleurisy, SDR, and breaking ribs while coughing, I am terrified by my body lol Mostly it is women who break their ribs during coughing apparently! 😅
About making cemeteries happy places: in Romania we have a cemetery called "cimitirul vesel" wich is "happy cemetery" and it is painted and decorated very colorful.
✨i hope you guys have a very nice day✨
petition of Ryan's mom or dad to make a guest appearance. Especially if they're talking about dental recognition stuff

Yeah for real I thought I missed something from Halloween
You must be as high as I am
This channel is the only one that I can put my ear buds in lay down an get relaxation, way better than those apps you gotta pay for to listen to rain & thunder. With Shane & Ryan you get horror, comedy, history, crime all wrapped up in one. Love it!!
Shane being fully against the establishment makes my life whole. He really says ✨eat the rich✨
WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY
But then buys a jacket from one of the wealthiest companies in the world..
He is "the rich" lol. I think he meant to say, "Eat the - [.001%] - * must be nice to be so fantastically ignorant and disillusioned....; blissfully so, it would seem.

Changed this comment because what I said wasn’t true, and I apologize for spreading false info I also do not condone the actions of Edgar Allen Poe concerning his cousin, please don’t take what I said as fact, thank you.
Well, that's nice at least
That's sweet :)
That is not accurate. Poe was a creep. He was 27 and his cousin 13. He lied on the marriage certificate saying she was 21.I can’t type out more actual details without my comment being deleted. What you’ve stated is not fun or fact. If you’ve actually done any research into it I have to assume you’re intentionally covering for the actions which is disturbing.
@@silliestnico it really isn’t. What this guy said isn’t accurate unfortunately.

I need a new Ghoul Boys season already
I know, they are literally carrying the entire Buzzfeed company. I know they have their own show but i love these episodes :p
Same
You could go check out their channel The Watcher.
They have their own channel called "The Watcher"
1:04:19 Fun fact: if you just don't include someone in your will, they can pull some nonsense like "oh I was just forgotten we talked about it beforehand she just forgot to include me" but leaving someone one dollar is like, I acknowledge your existence, this is all I value you at.
IDK current laws, but it sounds like something people could and would do in the 20s
People most certainly still do this :) it makes it more difficult to contest a Will.
Though people still fo things like this it's rare they get anything as they need to have proof that the lawyers can confirm. Otherwise if they are not included in the will and don't have this confirmable evidence then their claims are just thrown out.

Who is here to reminisce about the good old days before Watcher TV subscriptions?
For those fans of Poe, who may be visiting the University of Virginia sometime, you should know that his room, 13 West Range, has been turned into a mini Poe museum featuring a stuffed Raven, a recording by one of his professors describing him as a student there, and a window pane, upon which he had scratched a poem.
13 was his favorite number it seems. That’s how old his cousin wife was.
Can we get these guys on family feud?
I would seriously watch that episode.
*shane talking to himself* wouldn’t we all... wouldn’t. we. all
Great idea! To complete their team add John B. Allen (MrBallen), Bailey Sarian (Murder and Makeup), and Mike (That Chapter).
Team Watcher vs Team Try Guys could be pretty great.
Coming back after the watcher downfall
While watching this I realized something, Shane is right where he needs to be, listening to him talk about how he would let people put of prison if he was a cop just because they were doing it awsomily. Being a youtuber is the best job for him lol.
