In the 1920s that was certainly possible but laws today prevent this as they are required to present evidence that can be verified by the lawyers. But I do agree, my grandma did this in her will because it’s what “her parents told her to do,” if she didn’t want a child or grandchild to be able to try to say she wasn’t “in her right mind” when she wrote it and gave grounds to contest the will. It’s an old practice, but people still do it out of an old, morbid habit.

Hair ends up stuck to the skull at a certain stage of decomposition, because hair doesn't decompose near as fast as the soft tissues, so yes, it doesn't go through, but it does look like it's grown out of the skull. Interesting! Hadn’t heard this one! Though it doesn’t necessarily explain the ratty clothes. But that could also be on top of any of the other possibilities discussed by our boys.
For those fans of Poe, who may be visiting the University of Virginia sometime, you should know that his room, 13 West Range, has been turned into a mini Poe museum featuring a stuffed Raven, a recording by one of his professors describing him as a student there, and a window pane, upon which he had scratched a poem.
This may have been said before, but bless Shane for looking at Poe marrying his 13 year old cousin and saying "eh, screw historical context, that ain't right." Judge away, sir.

It's interesting to watch these years down the like after cases (like this one specifically) have been solved. This video was posted just about two years ago and they have finally identified the mystery man and are fairly certain what happened to him. They even found his family, who has mixed feelings. They're happy to know what happened to him, even if his living relatives aren't truly familiar to him. They found a picture of him alive, and it's good that there is some semblance of closure in that he is remembered now by family.
I hope the boys will do a follow up to this over at Watcher, as there is a development to the case with the body finally identified as Ruth Marie Terry by the FBI. She was 37 and from Tennessee.

This is a long shot, but my great uncle Louis T. Mackessy went missing off of a cruise ship near Bermuda in the 1935. It's still a cold case and it would be so cool if you could look into it. You have way more resources than I do. Basically he left for a cruise sometime in September, 1935. He was on a cruise called the Champlain. He apparently left all of his baggage laid out neatly on his bed in his room on the ship. He was a lawyer from Elizabeth, New Jersey. I have tried so hard to find police reports or anything at all and have found nothing. It bothers me so so much that we don't know what happened. I just want his memory to stay alive and give him some honor in knowing how he died. Could he have faked his death and lived on an island somewhere?? Literally so many questions. His mom and brother never cancelled his phone number hoping he would someday call, and she would go out looking for him every single day, roaming around hoping she'd see his face. Both are now gone unfortunately, but it would be incredible to find out what happened to him...

Sadly this doesn't appear to be the case, as one of their other cousins actually attempted to get her out of the marriage and take her to get an education, but Poe allegedly absolutely lost it and went into a drunken rage about him trying to take Virginia away from him. @@notahumanbeing6892 well I mean, I'm assuming they didn't write the script he's reading. The show has a production team and such.

If you're reading this, have a great day. Stay positive. Everything good that you need is on the way. Don't give up.
I know you're like "Why leave him anything at all" but by leaving him one dollar she's making sure he can't contest the will to get more than that.
In the 1920s that was certainly possible but laws today prevent this as they are required to present evidence that can be verified by the lawyers. Just saying "oops they just forgot to include me." doesn't fly anymore and hasn't since the 1980s. Nothing against any of you that still believe this because you saw it on a TV show but seriously research the laws.
@@chrisbennett6236 While I appreciate the information for post 1980's lawyer stuff, we are speaking about someone who died in the 1920's so by your own admission what I stated is still relevant.
@@merlinsgirl9311 he said wait let me take this from here and then took it in the wrong direction
But I do agree, my grandma did this in her will because it’s what “her parents told her to do,” if she didn’t want a child or grandchild to be able to try to say she wasn’t “in her right mind” when she wrote it and gave grounds to contest the will. It's interesting to watch these years down the like after cases (like this one specifically) have been solved. This video was posted just about two years ago and they have finally identified the mystery man and are fairly certain what happened to him. They even found his family, who has mixed feelings.
