Back in 2014 I bought a Orange 2000 4x4 Rancher with 256 miles (411km) on it. It still had the new Honda smell when it would warm up. It was too nice for me to sink in a mud hole so I sold it. Paid $2500 for it and sold it for $3000 :)
This one felt like new and it really was too nice to sink in a mudhole. But I did it anyway! Figured that some people buy these brand new and sink so why should I hold back. Paid 25000 sek wich is about 2900 usd. Got offered 37000 sek (4304$) if I wanted to trade it in for a brand new Rancher but thought that if it is worth that much I want to keep it. What ATV do you have now?
@@NilsKall WAY more fun! Utility still has a place in my heart though haha. I have a bunch of vids on my channel. My buddy has one identical to mine but with 120hp. Mine has the big black box on the back.
nice video. my dad's brother has a honda rancher. the same kind you guys got. only but my uncle's 4 wheeler is green. he also had another one that is camofloch. honda's are the best
Great condition ATV. Hondas are the best. Honda recommend only pressing the starter button for a couple of seconds. Otherwise you can damage the starter motor.
Mvh Nils
I have the older 300 fourtrax and put a stop under the reverse safety below engine so I don't have to fight with brake lever in order to back up. Should be easy to do same on the rancher. I will know tomorrow. Buying one tomorrow morning. Seems to be very similar in many ways. A few obvious changes between models but looks like they kept the best design features from older models. Hoping many parts will interchange.
I put that stop up at the handle but result is the same, no need to fight the brake lever. I don’t know how much is the same between the models but my understanding is that the 300 was a great model.
@@NilsKall didn't think about doing brake hack at left hand. Will try on the rancher. I think I will keep the 300. It is 2X4 and much smoother ride all the way around. Great for mailbox runs or as spare for other riders. Only had a couple hours on the rancher today, it is like the difference between a half ton truck and a one ton (rancher being the one ton). It will handle much heavier work and load but seems to be much harder to negotiate around, so to speak. For play except mud or rock crawling, the 2X4 fourtrax 300 is much better. The rancher 350 seems slower, heavier and much stiffer.
Hi, sorry for late reply. I haven't tried the Honda 300 but when comparing my Rancher 350 to the old Suzuki KingQuad 300 I found the Rancher had much harder steering. Everything else was much better on the Rancher, well maybe the King Quad was a bit better in really hard terrain. My Rancher has the 424 lockout that allows 2wd, I really wouldn't want to be without that!
I just bought an 05 Rancher in excellent condition. I was wondering what you both mean by a stop in order to not have to use the break for reverse. Is there a good video on how to do this? I am new to this particular ATV. Thanks!
Hi, I dont think they are available any more unfortunately, here is a listing from Amazon so you know what to look for: www.amazon.ca/Wide-Open-DS3500-Switch-Rancher/dp/B007Y4JJWA Apparently you can mount a Rancher 400 front diff and wire a button to activate the 4wd electronicly. Do some searching and you can find more info about is. Best regards Nils
Hi! It is not fore sale and I bought it used so might be a bit hard to find another one exactly like this. With the high prices I would recommend to buy a new Honda Rancher, they are actually not so expensive compared to other brands.
Hi, yes price was very good! And yes it’s almost like a new bike, its so nice to work with when its not been wrenched on by 10 “experts” before me. Has ordered new rims and tires for it to make it a bit cooler. Looks so lame stock 😁
The first thing that you should have done would have been to change out the gas, and oil. If you would have done that you wouldn't have gunk in the carburetor, Gee's that's elementary.
The gunk in the carb was from the dissolved filter in the fuel tank. Common Rancher problem apparently. Just wanted to test if it would run without doing nothing to it but that didn’t work. Carb was probably fouled a long time ago, it was stored with the fuel shutoff open. Thanks for watching.
why in the f.... did you try and start it the first time with out draining the tank? ALL YOU DID WAS PUSH MORE BAD FUEL IN THE CARB.. YOU CREATED YOUR OWN PROBLEMS... YOU ARE YOUR WORST ENEMY...LOL
Excellent. I have an ‘01 footshift. I’ve really enjoyed it.
Its been a year since I did this video and the Honda is doing great. Have a Disc brake conversion video coming soon.

Yeah I got lucky on this one!
Interesting outfits your horses wear, is this to keep the bugs/ticks off them?
Hi, yes, its for the flys and blinnings. They get stressed by them so we want to avoid that. And it also makes them look a bit like knights horses😂
