    Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
    In this video I am making Dominos with hidden weight to them.
    By that I mean they weigh a lot more than just standard resin would.
    I remember as a child the Dominos we played with were quite heavy and wanted to recreate that solid sturdy feel in these pieces.
    Although they are far from perfect I absolutely love the feel of them in my hand while playing the game.

    I just recently found your channel and I can't stop watching your videos! I just began resin crafting about 6 months ago and immediately fell in love with the art form. I've watched loads of UA-cam videos from resin artists and learned so much from all of them, but yours really resonate with me because we have a similar esthetic in our color choices and project choices. I was so excited to see your dominoes vid this week because I also just started pouring a 92 piece dominoes set last week (still working on painting all the little dots tonight 😂) I wish I had added the weight to my pour as you did, but I will definitely be adding that satisfying "thunk" to my next set. Keep up the great work and thank you for all the knowledge and inspiration you are sharing.

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  2 роки тому +1

      Kerri that is a really kind and lovely comment 😀😀😀😀
      I fell in love with resin with my very first pour (which was a disaster 😂😂😂) and really wanted to share with others what I’ve learned along the way as at the time I was learning there was very little about.
      It sounds like your huge dominos set is time consuming and fun 😀😀
      I hope you enjoy your resin journey as I have over the years 😀😀😀
      Even the bad bits help you learn so never worry about a bad pour or mistake 👍
      Thanks so much for your comment.

    Wendy I’ve had the dominoes molds for ages but never made them.. now I have to get them out after seeing your add ins!! Yours are great with either one - stones or dust! I love the idea of having some weight as well. And you’re not alone with picking the same colors all the time 😂 I think I’m drawn to galaxy colors but I force myself to use oranges and reds bc I love them. Thanks for sharing this, I am definitely inspired 🙌💯💯🌹🌹
    Ps. I tap the like button on my way in bc I adore all of your videos👌

      I really enjoyed making this video as much as making the dominoes 😂😂
      Had lots of fun with dancing dominoes and playing with the set too.
      Thanks again 😀😀❤️👍

      Stone dust works really well and you use less resin too so much cheaper 😀😀
      Purple and silver are gorgeous together 😍😍😍

      Didn't think of that but it's obvious now you've said it so even more of a great idea as we know resin is expensive so anything that makes it go further is a winner in my eyes, you can call me Paula everyone else does xx

    Both sets look great! I also used to play domino as a child and now I can barely remember how to anymore. I have a small amount of tungsten (given to me by a friend to give weight to things I craft) but the stone powder you used seems to work quite well and is probably a lot easier to get hold of.

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  2 роки тому +1

      It works well and reduces the amount of resin used too so it’s very efficient 😀😀
      Don’t think that’s in the video but it does.
      Think tungsten would be heavier but more expensive 😀
      Thanks for sharing 😀❤️👍

    Hi Wendy, they are amazing, my granddaughter ans i still play domino's. I have now brought the same molds and I'm going to made the stone dust ones for her for her birthday. Could I please ask did you heat up the stone dust ones like you did the copper ones? Also, which varnish did you use please? Thank you for a great video 😃

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  2 роки тому +1

      Actually I didn’t heat up the stone ones as it was a much quicker process and easier to do. 😀
      The varnish I used was rust-oleum gloss 😀
      I hope you enjoy your crafting 😀

    Dominoes have been so much fun for me to make. My favorite thing to use is pieces of ... Sorry. Can't think of correct terminology. The film that I can crinkle to get color changing looks... Anyway, I've loved doing dominos. But I never thought of using a dotting tool for finishing the dots. I've just used my handy little toothpick and dropped UV resin into them. I know you don't like to mix UV and epoxy resins, but I have had success with combining them. (Hopefully I am making some sense...my eyes are getting worse daily after cataract surgery in both. HUGE mistake!)

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  2 роки тому +1

      I totally know what you are talking about 😀😀
      That crinkle stuff is so much fun to use and gives beautiful results 😀😀
      Yes UV and epoxy is controversial but if it works for you then that’s great.
      I hope your eyesight improves in the future.
      Thanks for watching 😀❤️👍

    The first set you used a heat gun and the second you used a spray. Can you please tell me the difference?

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  2 місяці тому

      I prefer the Alcohol spray but it breaks the surface tension, so if you are close to the top of the mould or doming it, it will make it flow over the edge.
      Hope that helps 😀😀💜
