    Your video reminds me of a video on youtube of a guy (Vehicular DIY channel) replacing the rod bearings on a bmw n54 engine. He mistakenly torqued the rod bolts 70 degrees 2x when he was only supposed to do it 1 time and nobody caught it. The bearings were destroyed soon afterwards. He took it apart to try and find out what happened and all of the rod bearings showed the same kind of damage. He said he measured the rod ends fully torqued with the same as before, 70 degrees 2x, and he said he found "no distortion" of the rod cap. He suspected the King bearings but an extra 70 degrees of torque is a hell of a lot more torque. I'm glad your viewers caught your mistake before the car was started

    Very well done!! I am pulling a E70 M57 right now, cylinder 3 is down to 180psi on compression. Great video. I could not imagine doing UA-cam videos that wasn't in my native language, my hat is off to you sir.

    Bar the ground strap you rebuilt an entire M57 Engine and there wasn't any problems, that's got to be a good feeling! I sometimes get half way through a job and wonder if that's the last time the engine will ever start lmao.
    Thanks for the brilliant series, hopefully when I get my X5 I'll strip my E90 M57n2 and rebuild it and I'm sure I'll be using some of your videos haha.

    Huge thanks for doing this series! My E61 530xd LCI has a hole or a broken ring in the 3rd piston due to a bad injector. When pressurised at TDC with all valves closed air is leaking through the oil cap. I have a video of the leak test here in my YT channel. Your videos will be a huge help when rebuilding the engine. EDIT: it had a crack in the cylinder wall. The engine is now rebuild and ready to fire up tomorrow.

      @@crank3646 The sad reality is BMW in my opinion manufactures fantatic straight 6 engines and rubbish 4 cylinder ones. And up to date apart from the M petrol cars they do only 330d and 340d(same engine) with 6 cylinder. Obviously they are still super expensive even for Uk so will keep my f30 330d for as long as I can. Hoping for the best as changing oil every 15k kilometers. For 3 years of ownership haven't had a single issue just oil, brake fluid and set of front tyres and front pads. The car still has the original suspension and original discs(soon to be replaced as have a leap on). I am considering changing the ZF gearbox oil at some points( just preventative maintenance). Regarding intervals- bmw said I don't need to do that; my garage suggested 60k miles /100k kilometers. What is your opinion on that one?

    • @crank3646
      @crank3646  2 роки тому

      @@thepharcyde8285 I have several videos with N57 engines, they are really, lets say gentle :D At 150-200k timing chains, bearings + oil pump is mandatory. About the 8 speed ZF, we are service them btw 50-80k km, depends on the owners driving.
