Love the sarcasm with Tom Baker in this scene, epic Doctor. When he regenerated to Davison I stopped watching Doctor Who altogether and the Doctors just got progressively worse till the reboot, but still to this day I watch my favorite Doctor regardless how good Eccleston Tennent and Smith, :)
Well, that's just a point of view, I haven't watched Doctor Who since Tom Baker left the show and took me some time to welcome Doctor Who back since that time. So,as you can tell I am giving them a chance with catching up,and am warming to it. And what would you prefer, that the Doctor goes back into the shadows and not be seen again?
I can't bring myself to blame the actors Gottfried as I believe it's iffy storylines and bad producing that leave their characters out on a limb or leap to crazy connections to enable a story to end within its allocated time slot these days. Poor scripting is what I call it. The producers of Doctor Who have let me down with overly sentimental and forced plotlines and character portrayals, even by the villains. Its all just a big bit too much. That said they've reached record audiences and brought the show to a new international audience so maybe I've got it all wrong. The show isn't particularly enjoyable to me in its new incarnation although I have enjoyed some of the latest doctors portrayals and stories. By the end of the original series in 1989 it was absolutely stinking lest we forget. Even then I cant blame McCoy but certainly the producers at the BBC for arsing it up. I have hope for the series. I couldnt believe it when they destroyed the Time Lords, I thought it was a massive mistake. But now they are back! The Doctor is older again, and I think that dynamically the grumpy older bloke portrayal I expect from Peter Capaldi will help put the show back on the road. We shall see, but Robots Of Death is my favourite all time story, and that's largely due to Tom. Hope you enjoyed the clip!
