GH5 with Super-Takumar 150mm f4 + 2x Teleconverter @ Queen's Park

Shot on a Panasonic GH5 sporting the Metabones Speed Booster (S version) EF to M43 with a vintage Super-Takumar 150mm f4 manual lens and 2x Vivitar m42 teleconverter. It was filmed using the Natural picture profile of the GH5, edited quickly on Davinci Resolve and given a light grade which crunched the blacks a bit and lifted saturation a tiny bit. I did this as a test to compare to my last sho...

Shot on a Panasonic GH5 sporting the Metabones Speed Booster (S version) EF to M43 with a vintage Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 300mm f4 manual lens. The lens is M42 mount with a basic adapter on it to convert it to EF. It was filmed using the Natural picture profile of the GH5. Edited on Davinci Resolve with a cinemascope (2:39) style reframing from 16:9. The footage was originally filmed on a mo...

I thought the infected are slower during the daytime???
WWWEEEEEERRRRRTTTTTY WWWWWWWWWEEEEWWWWWWWWWEWWEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAWWWWWWEERRRTT WWWWWWEEEEEEEEEERRQWWEWWERRRRRR WEEEE
Wow 16 years and it’s still here still just cool as I remember. I’m really looking forward to 28 years later coming out theaters next year. Did the film makers of 28 days later ever reach out to you? Do you plan on revisiting this project?
I think I may have watched these before, & as a bit of a fan of the films, I'd say this is pretty well done. I thought the music to the intro of infected on the scene was a wtong choice. I didn't feel the eerie danger, & it fell another generic scene of an army guy shooting weapons on a battlefield. I love the freeze frame at the end!
Yeh it was my first film. I could have done better. Just didn't have much knowledge or resources. I ended up having to edit it myself, so my first ever edit too. UA-cam was in its infancy so there weren't the resources that are there now. I'm tempted to revisit it and try and improve it with upscaling and a new mix. We shall see! Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated!
@fightdirector please don't upscale!!!!!!!! The less you see, the more terrifying it becomes, there's no better way to make the viewer use their own imagination instead of watching upscaled in your face CG BS, I love the nitty grittiness of the original film, & I felt a little bit of that watching your episodes, & if you upscale, it will take that away which I beg of you, please don't do it!🙏
@@paranoidgenius9164 I think I can safely get it to 720p. I'm not talking smeary crappy weird 4k, but the quality can be upped somewhat from what I originally did and still keep it good. I have the original tapes.
Fantastic film! Well done!
Excellent this..!!🫡👌🏻🎬📽️👏🏻 - your film pro friend, James Macdonald 😉
🙏
Hey fightdirector are you planning on make more of The Rage episodes?
I'd love to, but these were made in 2007 and its very expensive for me to get things down these days. I will try!
Are you returning to the Rage series
Perhaps one day I will make a return to them, or make my own zombie/ infected movie. Cost is the problem.
Wow what a beautiful video..cheers from m42 group 😊
Thanks for saying! I wanted to make one using the 135 or the 150mm Takumars but the weather has been bad this last week or so.
Wasn't that great and this story doesn't make any sense, poor cinematography
I understood the story fine 🤨
Sometimes things don't work out as well as I had hoped when it comes to films, but I'd argue that this still has its moments. Filmmakers MUST to get out there and TRY to make things. Sometimes we are successful, sometimes we aren't. This one I am less than happy with to be honest, but it won a few awards and is the only film I've made that actually won a cash award. $500 dollars. I try not to let negative criticism stop me from making the next one. You should make a scripted film yourself; a drama or a horror perhaps? It's a pain in teh ass but can be rewarding in many ways, and is always a learning experience.
@@fireflyfilmsltd well said. As a short film maker myself I know how difficult it is to even get your idea from concept to reality. So to have a finished product fully formed is an achievement in itself. For what it's worth, I liked the story. There were a couple of good jump scares echoing the ending. It sets you up for the last scare. it was well acted, well planned (directed) and well shot. You used the landscape to the point of it being another character. As someone who hasn't made a horror short yet (but dabbling) I liked it. Very much. If anything I'd have not used that particular font on the titles, it takes away from the impact. But that's just being pedantic.
@@terrydray I kinda lost control of this one if I am to be honest, but I dragged it across the finish line and got it out there. I had plans to have it a little more tongue in cheek than it actually turned out to be, the typeface is a hang on from that perhaps, but I must say I am glad this one is behind me.
Wow that was scary and well played 👌🏻👏🏻🫶🏻
Thanks. Some great actors in there!
Loved it! Well done all. When's the sequel out? :)
I'll vote for never. This was a pain in the ass to get finished I can tell you!
Nice one, well done to all involved. Recognised Gina there. Well done David Goodall for the music, RIP chap, think of you often.
David was one of several folks that saved this film from a never ending hell of problems. A great collaborator and a lovely man.
Hi there. Can I ask what settings you filmed in to achieve the slow mo?
Natural Profile. 125/25fps FHD 100m - Sorry it took me a year to reply btw. I have a random old email address attached to this account and I must figure out how to change it as I don't get notifications.
Thanks for the upload. I also own the 300/4. It's a great lens if a little on the heavy side. I'm often pootering around Govan with my A7ii and various vintage lenses. Strictly photography - I haven't been bitten by the video bug although I have a few unedited videos on my channel. I've subbed in the hope that you'll upload some more.
Greeting fellow Glaswegian. Apologies for the year long wait for a response. I've been trying to get another done with a 150mm this last few weeks but the weather's been grey and dull. I'll maybe get one done this week. We shall see!
@@fireflyfilmsltd Among all the Takumars I own, I think the 150mm f4 is my 2nd favourite. The last time I used it was up at Maryhill Locks. I couldn't believe it's a year already since I commented on your video. Life, eh? For the record, the 28mm f3.5 is my favourite Takumar lens. 😉 Looking forward to seeing what you capture with the 150mm.
great film! Just ordered the same lens today
I hope you have had fun with the lens.
ADHD In the head!
I would give anything for a TV show that depicts all days of the outbreak before the first movie
That would be great. There's definitely a good story there.
Awesome footage - I’m very curious about the 300mm. I have an old Pentax Spotmatic & a lot of Takumar lenses, but 150mm is the longest focal length in my kit. I’d like to try something like a 200mm or 300mm to see if I could capture any interesting nature shots.
The 150/4 is one of my favourite Takumars. The 200mm f4 is decent - it's not much bigger than the 150mm but the 300/4 is a beast. Definitely tripod material. Good luck!
@dyleet @itchybiscuit I have the 150mm. It's my plan to do a new video with it soon. This week if I can get a few hours. I work in stunts so find it hard to get much free time and teh weather in Scotland has been pretty poor recently.
A TV show would be nice, just as long as they keep to the infected and not go the way of zombies.
Lovely footage. Great music too.
Just catching up on a load of comments I never knew I had! Thanks Jim.
@@fireflyfilmsltd too late. I died. 😂
So the focal length become 100mm?
It'll be a little less than that with the speed booster Kevin, but I'm sure that you are right that the GH5 effectively doubles the focal length. I'm not 100% sure of how they calculate it but the speed booster "S" I believe makes the lens 0.71x wider and drops the f1.4 aperture to about f1.2.
@@fireflyfilmsltd thank youu
Great footage for a first day!
Thanks. I should probably have written the first "hour"... 🙂
Funny i live in scotland
Hello??
Hello??
Danny Boyle only did the first one the sequel was directed by a Spanish filmmaker named Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
Danny Boyle, who is credited as an executive producer on 28 Weeks Later directed some portions of it including the opening sequence with Robert Carlyle.
this series looks like its already been made but the contact lenses used in the film are the same as Darth Mauls in the phantom menace
100% 👹
Shit Got Real... 🧟👹🧟♂️
Why am i just seeing these now??.28 days n 28 weeks my favorites in the zombie movies. Zombieland my 2nd
I'm really glad this mini-series exists. Also it's really nice to see the rage virus from the soldiers perspective too, because in 28 Days later you don't get to see much of the British army. or is that just me?.. oh well love this series mate.
Too few TV series, movies and videogames show us how the military is handling the outbreaks. I don't get it why, because I find those scenes to be the most interesting ones. I guess they are finally understanding that people want to see military versus zombies/infected scenes since the new Netflix series, *All of us are dead* featured few pretty cool scenes where the Korean Special Forces were cleaning up places and fighting against the infection in different ways.
@@whathappenswhen3017 Yeah me too mate, sorry it took me this long to reply. I didn't receive a notification which is why it took me this long to even answer sorry about that. I have heard a lot about that series so might have to check it out at some point.

GREAT !
nice movie trailer. new sub to show some suport. i hope you don't mind doing the same
WOW this is FANTASTIC hope you can continue with some funding. BRILLLIANT you all have some TALENT!!
Well, we made it in 2007 and we do continue to try and do more. There, however, will sadly never be funding for this sort of thing in Scotland.
very good!!

Thanks. I'm just beginning to dust off this account and hopefully you are the first of many!
AWESOME -MOOOOOORE PLEEEEEEASE no really cool My Respect!
Kirill Subbotin Thanks. This was made 10 years ago. Working on something new, but similar genre, at the moment. Watch out for updates and give me a follow. Ill post updates about it soon 👍
Absolutely great and all the more amazing for 'low budget'. The SUPER-FAST infected and brilliant soundtrack has me in the edge if my seat.
Thetes two more episides if you look below. Im working on a new series in a similar vein btw 👍
Can I use some clips from this and the other episodes for a video I'm working on?
Probably not (unless no one notices) as the contracts only allowed for a youtube release for free.
Ah, sorry but I've already made the video. I did leave a link to this and the other episodes however. It was just a small 3 minute thing. Music video thing. No one will most likely ever see the video since it only has like 5 views or something. :T
29Tries haha dont lose any sleep over it ☺
Thanks I'll try not to lol. But yeah I just liked these ones and they reminded me of the actual films so I thought i'd be cool to splice a few clips of them into the video.
29Tries Im going to reply to a good few folk over the next few weeks if I can. The new series im working on wont be in the 28 dats later world but will have a similar spirit
For a fanmade spinoff this is fucking impressive.
Thanks. I'm currently working on a new one set in a new "zombie genre" world. It's 10 years since we made this and I know that there's much that can be improved , but I'll stand by it.
👍👍

Saw it. Supported. :)
Hi Marcio I've just noticed that you replied to me on wechat. I cant access wechat for some reason but will load it on to my tablet and reply.
A tv series surrounding the two films would be awesome! If done right, it would blow the walking dead series out of the water.
I'm currently working on a new one set in a new "zombie genre" world which sits somewhere between these and The Walking Dead but is my own content. It's 10 years since we made this and I know that there's much that can be improved.
fightdirector that sounds pretty awesome, watched this fan film back in the day and I'm glad to hear you have another project lined up
D. B. Cooper working on it right now. Had hoped to shoot some of it in January but its gonna be a big undertaking so I want to sharpen the script as much as I can before shooting. Started gathering props etc and seeking brilliant people to work on it. All will be well 😃🎬
I think if there were able to do so it would have to start a month or so before the out break and it would have to center on more then one group of people
I think if there were able to do so it would have to start a month or so before the out break and it would have to center on more then one group of peopl but I could see it happen
Bring back the rage series 2 I don't know how you'd do it since all the characters are dead and the only one not to die was the bad one but if you did that and you managed to get a proper mini series away that would shoot your views through the roof
I'm currently working on a new one set in a new "zombie genre" world. It'll be called The Rising.
