Still my favorite album. They've had some close seconds. But, Shogun is just an absolute masterpiece in my opinion.
I was lucky and got to see this performed live at house of blues cleveland. Seen trivium 14 times since 2006 and its the only time they ever played it that i saw since 2008
I remember seeing this live back in December of 2013 in San Diego. You guys absolutely killed it!

Been waitin' for this since you started this playthroughs, after all this years and albums this is still my favorite Trivium song, the lyrics, the music, the tension. A true 21st century classic and masterpiece. Thank you Matt and the rest of your bandmates for being one of my favorite and dearest bands and great inspiration. I can remember as it was yesterday when I first heard Trivium and then I realise it was almost 16 years ago. Much love and many many years of great music ❤️

the feelings shogun brings are so many! makes me feel like 18 age!
So, I've always wondered something: is he purposefully kind of reserving his voice for when he goes on tour, so he doesn't go fully 100%, or does he sound the exact same on tour? I heard he also just got done touring. Over the years every time I've checked a playthrough I've felt like both the growls and powerful cleans have lacked that bit of "oomph" that gives it such an aggressive sound. The calm cleans sound so good compared to Shogun, I have to say. I'm so proud he's improved so much over the years. 07:43 here is a perfect example of what I mean, before and after the change.
He's protecting his voice. He sounds better on tour but the "oomph" is definitely not there because it's a different technique. That being said I don't blame him nor do I want him to do that and blow his voice out again. I'll gladly take him doing this so he can do the "unsafe" vocals in the studio and get the amazing sounds he used to get.
He definitely doesn't go 100% during practice nor on tour. No professional singer does that, you'd blow your voice someday.
I think on the albums he goes all out and on tour he uses a safer tehnique.

@@Heath-vz7lc he does those screams so he won't hurt himself and break his voice as he did in the past. He uses his old techinique only for the studio records. And dude, have you ever heard of warm-ups? Sometimes it takes a couple of hours to be in good condition
@@Desperandum mate I’m a massive fan of trivium I’m fully aware of his less harsh screams he does live but I’m specifically saying these ones just sound awful they usually sound much better
