I would recommend to you their song "Caustic Are The Ties That Bind", and "Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis" if you love solos

In Waves from 2011 is ANOTHER fantastic Trivium record and Vengeance Falls (2013) along with Silence in the Snow (2015) are also vastly underrated albums that may not be quite at the level of Shogun but are still among my favorite metal records to this day (check out the B-sides From Silence as I really feel like they are the best two songs on the record, even if they didn’t technically make it on the album)…

Nope you're right lol. This is in MY OPINION their best work.
Between the highs and lows and riffs slowing and picking back up again.
I compared it to MOP in the sense that it has a wide variety of transitions but retains it's heaviness.
I've always imagined a Shogun type battle during the song.

Idk if I’d call shogun their master of puppets..i get why it was said 100% though. To me shogun is a special treat where master is played every show. You know what they say about opinions though! Either way i absolutely love shogun lol

its a great song, I wouldn't say their best, but among a top 5, its the journey they create among their tracks especially in shogun album, very much like the blackening album by machine head!

Yeah matt does screams & cleans for their recorded stuff for the vast majority. When playing live though their other guitarist Corey (who usually does most of the lead parts & the "shreddier" of the solos) does perform backup screaming vocals & the bassist Paulo also provides backup cleans. Shogun is seen by many as their magnum opus record, their last 3 records have all been fantastic too though. They got themselves a very talented drummer & managed to create a nice mesh of their previous sounds, merged into something certainly nostalgic yet still very different in many ways too. 👍🤘Their early breakthrough record "Ascendancy" is pretty incredible too, considering Matt was like 18 or something & still in High School I believe when he wrote it.

This is my personal favorite Trivium song and album and I feel it can definitely be compared to Master of Puppets, especially in terms of song structure. It starts simple and heavy then builds to a catchy chorus, then hits you with a clean-guitar interlude (with a bluesy lead) before building again to a crescendo of face-melting dual-harmony soloing before abruptly cutting it off to transition back into the catchy chorus one last time. I just love everything about this song (and the rest of the album is incredibly great as well)! Luckily Trivium has a very wide and diverse discography and are still writing and recording absolute bangers right up to today (they’ve gone through a couple of drummers since Shogun but their current drummer is Alex Bent and he is the best one they’ve ever had). The Sin and the Sentence from 2017 and What the Dead Men Say from 2020 (I believe) are definitely at Shogun-level and even their older stuff like Ascendancy (probably their most famous album) and The Crusade (much more Metallica-like with no screams at all) just prove that this band is incredibly diverse and have had staying power for over 20 years now at this point! One of my very favorite bands for sure!

I've compared this song to MoP before, both because it's their magnum opus and because it has a similar song structure.
I see why people don't like the harsh vocals, but imo this is one of the few times where the clean and harsh vocal work great together.
