Great video, Joe!!!! I'm sure Melissa will love it as a temp home! Afterwards, you can take it to the tent for extra room for visiting hunters! Roll Tide, MJ
My husband, two dogs, two parrots and I lived in a trailer like that for 5 months after our first flood. (Got nailed again this past April and ended up in the garage.) Get a carbon monoxide detector in the trailer if there isn't one installed already. We filled up the propane tank in the trailer and nearly gassed ourselves to death that night because the interior hoses had rotted out. Also make sure you have plenty of sewage hose so you can hook it directly to the sewer cleanout, and have that 50 amp ready to go on her breaker box before you get there. So glad Melissa will have a clean, dry, mold-free place to live!
Its gorgeous! Having a roof over your head is so critical to healing and well-being. So many surfaces for Melissa to make her own! Youre a good man, my friend. (And you know how rarely I say that, LOL!)
That's a great bargain! Too bad you can't clear the lot her flooded out house is on, build a cinder block or concrete foundation and park that 5th wheel permanently for her to use. Would be easier. Tfs. She's lucky to have you.
Score! Very nice trailer and amazing price. If you decide to sell it when you're done with it, you'll make money on it! I bet Melissa is excited to be able to get that down there and get settled in.
just make sure the roof is good. Fill in all the cracks with Dicor. It is a special silicon for RV roofs. Very good idea, we are living in a fifth wheel while we build our home. Hope everybody is well.
Good deal Joe, you picked the right time of year up here to buy one, no one wants to store it for the winter. Smart move my friend, I'm sure it will service you two well. John
so glad yall wont be staying in the house till all is dry and done-- so dangerous staying in a flood house- even though its been treated for mold- it can still be a health hazard-- many blessings to you both...
Your not kidding when you say after a flood prices goes up, goes up on everything & some ppl actually tries to rip the victim off. I stayed in a motel for several weeks, which they gave all flood victims a discounted price. As far as trying to rent a place landlords jacked prices up, I finally found a small house on the lake to rent & I had to pay one years rent "up front", was not refunded one penny back, plus I only lived there for 6 months, long enough to have my cottage remodeled & liveable again, plus I had of course to replace all the furniture.
Well done.....Great idea and great job shopping. Good luck on the travel down south.....you will be fine. Keep up the videos and we thank you so much for sharing. kb
Wow, that is pretty nice. When I wz little n lived beside that crowded infested creek I told u abt some months ago on one of ur crawdad videos I lived in a mobile home that wz 8x60 3 bedrooms n this somehow seems much bigger n definitely nicer, lol. We didn't hv hot n cold running water js a hand pump that wud freeze up big time in winter n dry up big time in summer. Barely had a bathroom, lol. I like bigger houses but I could live in something like that. Hope how soon Melissa gets her home bak. Hopefully b4 winter. Poor girl... This, God bless u both
They were all so appreciated. I had to ban two people from the channel that were going nuts about how the money (in their opinion) was being stolen, we are crooks etc. It was like... REALLY??? The flood was something that had never happened before and to be honest no one had a clue where the road would take us. This seems like the bast way to go we think. Thank you, its always nice hearing from you. Joe
I wish I could help, I worked for Feds during Katrina. People in general have no idea how devastating a flood can be and the mold ruins everything. I'm disabled and an old broke GC but I can still pray. I'm so sorry.
keep a eye on the seams for the extended rooms. My work friend bought that same 5th wheel but a 2010 and he sprung a leak on those seams twice. He had to have a specialist come in to repair both times and he has been fixing leaks for 30 years "roofer".
Jo you sure have done the right thing. some nigh on 15 years back i suffered a similar setback still stuck in poor housing should have taken the same route all the best to you both. PS the canopies over the slide outs as commented well worth it and also keep the seals lubed and out of direct sunlight.... they cook and crack then waters in no need to say anymore
You want the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the truck to exceed the weight of the truck and trailer tongue weight combined, by at least 10 percent, which is a much easier rule to follow with a larger truck. The payload of your pickup also needs to be suitable to handle the tongue weight placed in the bed. Curb weight is also important, as the heavier your tow vehicle is, the better it will handle the weight. And when it comes to hauling a big fifth-wheel, the last thing you want is to feel your trailer overpowering your truck
According to all the charts, I can haul an additional 1200 pounds of weight besides the trailer and still be within the recommended perimeters. My fingers are crossed Lol. Thank you. Joe
Hey there Joe, good buy man - good buy. I would recommend that you inspect the roof really well. Most likely a rubber roof and sun is its worst enemy. I know I had a motor home and it had a rubber roof. There is a conditioner that should be placed on it every 6 months. You should clean really well with soap water and a brush then rinse well and spread the conditioner with a liquid wax applicator that has a handle like a broom. This is the life of a rubber roof. Do you know if it was stored under a cover that protected the roof from the sun? I would highly recommend that if you are going to park at the house in Louisiana that on be built over it because the sun can be brutal here also will assist in cooling the trailer. No direct sunlight beeping directly to the roof. Also provides air movement between the top of trainer and the cover. Just some thoughts as I know how brutal it can be in Louisiana as I live there. Hope you didn't mind my suggestions but I have lived with the same conditions that it will be used for. Love you my brother and feel free to correspond via Messenger. God Bless you both and all the best to you. Bob
Thank you. Its a "walk on" type roof that was put on brand new last year, its in awesome shape. If it was going to be set up there long term a roof over it to keep off the sun would be a great idea. I hope she will be back in the house in early or mid spring. Thanks again Bob. Joe
Joe, can't believe your advertising theft on the channel?!? What a great deal on that. I hope it works out for you! Is insurance planning on paying out, and the process is just taking awhile, or are they going to flake out like insurance companies and Katrina? Hope everything works out well for you guys!!
Pay close attention when 18 wheelers pass you, the wash of air off their trucks will push you around. It is scary at first, but when you get used to it you hardly notice. 5th wheelers are much better than travel trailers. Not near as much sway.
+northernseclusion Excellent man as as always Joe! The inside tour part of the video reminded me a bit of your Tent vids. I know the differences are many, but I was wondering how the King compares to the Tent as far as square footage and respective living space. Curious because I figured if I can't build a great Tent like you have, perhaps I could start out with a piece of property and a King to start creating my own memories like I see you and your family have through the years.
The king utilizes space real well, I have owned travel trailers in the past when I was out working in ND and this one is set up better than the others I had. I have more sq ft in the tent with the addition but the trailer would be more comfortable I think and it has plenty of space with the slides. This unit is a "winter" unit so its well insulated which down in Louisiana isn't such a big deal except the fact that that same added insulation helps with keeping it cool also. Thank you.
Actually with the brake system in the ford and on the trailer, stopping went quite easy. I was worried as well. Lets hope the 57 mile trip I did bringing it home goes as nervously easy as the 1400 mile trip to Louisiana. I will be praying on this one for sure. Thanks Steve. Joe
Dogs yes, and the cats did well also. I do believe a couple of the younger kittens did not make it. Chickens not as good. I am guessing she had around 120 chickens and maybe half made it. It could have been worse but the flood was not needed. Its all sad but I always like the glass at least half full. Thank you. Joe
I know this question must have already been asked/answered in the past...but how come Melissa doesn't just move up there with you to Minnesota? It's obvious you guys are committed to each other, so why not cut your losses in Louisiana and have her come up with you?
Thanks Stephen. I am going to copy and paste this response from a comment I just replied to two comments above you. Lol. Thanks again. Joe. : It is part of our long term plan (shorter if possible) but you don't just up and leave a house that you are paying a mortgage on. Its a bit more complicated than that. Plus, she has been working for the same company for well over 10 years, her medical and vacation etc it quite high. Luckily that company which is nationwide is based here in MN so hopefully she can transfer BUT. You cant just walk away. We will get this house like brand new and then make those decisions.
NorthernSeclusion oh sorry! I didn't see the other comment listed, but figured it was a frequent question asked. I understand the mortgage troubles/responsibilities. Just wondered if it was a goal. Thanks for answering!

just perfect Joe and for the price mate, it's a no brainer. She can live in that and fix the house, no dramas. Nice one. ATB Moose.
Yes, you got a SWEET deal on that!! Melissa will be so much more comfortable living in that! Hope you can get away soon so you can take it to her.
Great video, Joe!!!! I'm sure Melissa will love it as a temp home! Afterwards, you can take it to the tent for extra room for visiting hunters! Roll Tide, MJ

Your a good man joe...thats why this channel is still my fav on youtube..
A great idea Joe and at least you'll know Melissa is a lot happier and safe living in that than a mouldy room.
great idea and super good deal

What a deal! Nice trailer.

Thanks Ann, Yea hearing those words coming out of your mouth I was like.... are you feeling ok? haha. Thanks again.

Yep. You want the Dicor 501LSW for roofs. It's their "self-leveling" caulk.
Heck joe! You can't pass that good of a deal! Hope Melissa does good with it. Hang in there
Way nicer than many alternatives. You got a great deal. Glad things are going a bit better.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Good deal Joe, you picked the right time of year up here to buy one, no one wants to store it for the winter. Smart move my friend, I'm sure it will service you two well. John
Wow Joe what a deal! That will be a great comfort to her down there!
You are a good man Joe! Thats an awesome 5th wheel. Make sure you put it on high ground in Louisiana, lol.
Wow, what a bargain Joe. That sure is a sturdy pickup to pull that.
WOW you got a killer deal on that
Love your videos. I love how you do t have click bait titles. Just no nonsense great footage and vlogging.
so glad yall wont be staying in the house till all is dry and done-- so dangerous staying in a flood house- even though its been treated for mold- it can still be a health hazard-- many blessings to you both...
Always enjoy hearing from you. I will be happy when the trip is done and she is in the trailer and out of the house. Thank you.
Very NICE, Joe!! That is really nice setup. Juddie

Fabulous Joe!

Thats a great price!! Wish my old Dutchman had slide outs. Sure increases the floor space. Take care, be safe on the trip down.......Darryl, AML.
Wow that's a seriously good deal on that trailer!
Man I swear you are awesome!!!
Looks like a great deal mate, just remeber drive slow & stead until you feel comfortable with the new rig.
I wish I could help, I worked for Feds during Katrina. People in general have no idea how devastating a flood can be and the mold ruins everything. I'm disabled and an old broke GC but I can still pray. I'm so sorry.
That is a great deal. If i scored that i'd probably forego my plans to build a tiny house & just live in it permanently.
awesome deal. that's the definition of good karma!

Dang Joe, that looks like you go quite the deal on that unit. All you need is a few pork steaks and you can call that home! ;)
Wow....That's a really good deal. way to go Joe!!!?

Fantastic Deal. I've been looking for a fifth wheel in California and I got find anything this nice for less than 40,000
Very nice deal, Love it!
Looks great!
Hey you were near my place. Good deal on the RV!

Away to a womans heart is with a 5th wheel. Good lunck and God Bless.
I can tell you seeing that mattress, that the roof vent in the bedroom leaks. Check into it....ask me how I know.
next Video..... Pork Steaks from the 5th wheel lol... great deal
Thats a monster.

Now I know the story of the 5th wheel
6K for an 04 king of the road. That’s crazy!!!
My god even my dad would buy that good of a deal and he hates campers

Do you know what it weighs?
demo the house. put that in its place
When you can switch all the light bulbs to LED bulbs. In case your ever boondocking it will save on battery power.
Really nice 5TH wheel for the money. Was it your house or melissa's that got flooded out Joe?
Sure makes you have lots of faith in insurance companies. Haha. NOT!!!
Was Melissia able to save her animals?

Put on new last year, its flawless. Thank you.
Nice. Seems the new truck should have no problem towing it.
You are a very nice boyfriend
