When he refused to call himself brave, my heartbroke
I respect him for it. Ppl just throw around the term bravery without knowing what it means now
It’s the true brave people who never actually call themselves the brave ones.

One time I was trying to look for a church and I almost ended up in a cult. As a christian I believe Jesus died for our sins and he gives us eternal life after death if we accept him as our Lord and saviour but the woman in this church were telling me my salvation has a PRICE and that PRICE WAS TO LEAVE MY FIANCE AND GET IN THE CHURCH WITH THEM! I was like girl, wait a second what? the worst thing of it all is that they will back up everything with bible scriptures and this was so damaging to me because I truly considered leaving my now husband to join a CULT and he is right, they will make you do all kinds of things in the name of God! thats so disturbing, but ultimately if you leave the cult you can see the reality of things and be thankful you are out because the comfort this people bring you in a way it's like a drug/prision. hey, jubilee! i know you strongly support diversity and the inclusivity of all kinds of people. this is why i think that you should caption your videos! it would make them so much more accessible to all kinds of people.
...See the CC at the bottom of the video? Click that. There are captions. Granted they are only in english but that is because they are speaking english and that is what the auto-generating captions can easily do. If you hit the gear and then click subtitles you will see there is an option to "add subtitles" this is where you can put your own translation for other languages in. Note that you have to go segment by segment.
It takes A LOT of time to ass non-auto generated subtitles. Most of the time when you see them on other channels it is either A) a fan took the time to put them in in another language or B) that creator has one or more people write in the subtitles.
More often than not videos will eventually have subtitles in several languages but if you wait to release a video until you have those already written it could extend the production time tenfold.
@Gundham Cat and there are plenty of channels that do make their own captions for every video. it's not difficult to do.

it really bothers me that this cult dared to call themselves Buddhafield. it has nothing to do with Buddha or Buddhism. disgusting

Nor does it have anything to do with Hinduism or the Bhagavad Gita
werdnamich Buddhafield uses the Sanskrit word shakti (meaning "power") for Jaime Gomez' alleged power transference to his followers using his finger. Gomez also cites the Bhagavad Gita as a source.
Yeah it’s Hinduism
They likely think they're the "true" believers. Similarly, Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons think they're the "true" believers and that other churches don't know the "truth" about God.
I found it a little tasteless that the one guy told him that he prays he find the one true god through religion after he explained he believes in a higher power in a non traditional sense and when he was literally a victim of a cult, highly doubt he’d just be ready to thrown himself into a religion after that.
Sea right? Why do people keep calling that a “wholesome” moment that was so distasteful!
Omg right!? thank you. I've been scanning the comments and I'm surprised no one mentioned it.
Some former cult members actually throw themselves into religion, and rarely in a healthy way. So yeah, I agree, taking that moment to proselytize someone was a crappy thing to do.
Its about perspective, and Chris seems to have a lot of it. He probably understood it was that guy's way of showing compassion. Chris could have taken offensive based on the guy's lack of considering the context, but Chris saw it as an effort to be caring.
@@Phalxxx Yeah Chris is a very polite person
I can’t wrap my head around how most people don’t realize all religions are just different forms of thought reform.
I understand there are great perks associated with religions, but it blows my mind. And the fact that it’s still so intertwined with our politics and legal system....how is this still possible when things like google exist?
Yo my thoughts exactly.
But I think the difference is cults dont follow or arent open minded to any other way of thinking other then their own. Or in other words dont respect. For them its basically us against them or 'black or white' Being in a cult is isolating. They pull you away from people closest to you.
Like for example islam is a religeon but ISIS is a cult that twisted religeon to meet their ideology and brainwash people.
I beg to differ with the thought reform idea, maybe in some cases, but the religious education i was brought up with was VERY open to let me believe what i want, i aint really religious (dont agree with any set religion) myself atm tbh but ik alot of people that are and still interact with a church community for volunteering. I do want to acknowledge that some of them do have thought reform, i dont deny it but not all.
Education and psychology are also forms of 'thought reform'. Cognitive behavior therapy is a powerful force for mental health, it's certainly a type of thought reform. So I guess what I'm saying is like any tool, 'through reform' in of itself doesn't have morality - it's how it used that determines if a thing is beneficial or abusive.

I really empathize with him, I spent 8 years of my childhood in a Christian doomsday cult. “But you sound so intelligent” is something I’ve heard as well. When you spend that long in an environment which continually gaslights you and reinforces its own validity, it becomes your whole reality. It becomes your perception of normal and it’s hard to imagine anything else, especially if your family (ascribed or achieved) is in it too.
Abusers are masters at keeping you off kilter so you're never balanced enough to use that intelligence to look at your situation

I'm so thankful for learning about cults, as strange as that is to say. This video helped show that being a victim of a cult doesn't mean you aren't intelligent, it means that someone else took advantage of your vulnerability.
I hope that if anyone is ever in such a state of insecurity that they won't be taken advantage of, cult or no cult.

hands down one of the best videos i've ever watched. love the format, the questions asked, and the guy's answers. he is so so so well spoken by the way. would love to hear more about his experiences
Cults are just one example of how people are guided into doing things and becoming people they otherwise wouldn't have. In almost every case, they're being taken advantage of. Family, friends, business, government organisations, pretty much everything human beings do eventually if not initially leads into this kind of relationship in its own twisted format, whether accepted or not by the general public as something appropriate.
7:53 I know this guy only meant well with his comment about him finding "the one true god" but I don't think that was a good time to make that kind of comment. Chris put himself in a very vulnerable position in this video by speaking candidly about some uncomfortable/painful past experiences. While he's in this vulnerable position, the guy brings up his own beliefs and how he'll pray for him and that he's already "on the way"...I'm not saying that this guy's in a cult himself but it seemed eerily similar to the way Chris was describing cult recruitment. Again, I know this guy only meant well (and Chris didn't seem bothered) but maybe having a conversation with someone discussing why they left a religion and that they aren't interested in having one isn't a good time to express hope that they'll one day join YOUR religion.
Gangs and Narco groups are also cult's but socially accepted and low-key in a way if that makes sense because of social media, money and influence they have.
I know someone who was friends with members of this cult and they actively tried to pursue this person to join which scared them. Fortunately this person stepped away when they felt it being too much and still keeps in touch with a few of the members that left 10+ years ago. I highly recommend watching "Holy Hell". I heard all about it before it premiered a few years ago from the person I know and it's a very sad story and interesting topic. The worst thing is this predator is still abusing people.

As a Christian, I can say this was definitely not what God said to do whatsoever.
I love how he said the basis of the universe is love and that’s so true. GOD IS LOVE and He created everything.
The bible says there is no fear in love (1 John 4:18) if you’re afraid then you definitely haven’t found God but a cult.
What is true? Are you in a cult?
This coment is so ironic and funny just proves how dangerous cults are. You litteraly watch minutes of somone saying how dangerous cults are and you vomit your own right after
VII no. I have a relationship with God
I feel like an ex-extremist group memeber would also say the same things.
The only difference is the level of violence and the goal being political and geographical power for the extremist groups.
I'm so grateful I came across this video! Literally at the beginning of this year I left a cult I was in for the last 4 years. The amount of stress and anxiety I've felt just from leaving has been unbearable at times and I've felt bad for saying I was even a part of a cult because I still love a lot of the people I was in it with. This gave me so much hope and faith to keep pushing forward. Thank you Jubilee for the video, this topic is not talked about enough in my opinion.
The strength is mustve taken for him to talk about his experience. More power to him
Abuse, is the difference between being part a of group, or a cult. Unfortunately many times the term cult to tear down any group they don’t agree with. Many call religions cults, or political parties cults, etc. But many groups that do not abuse each other, bring people the ability to cope with difficulties with life which I think is good even if I do not agree. Many cope with drugs and alcohol in essence they worship it. You could say they are part of a cult. They put their trust in “something” that offers them “hope” but causes damage to themselves and their relationships. This guy was being abused, and was abusing others, this is not good and I would call it a cult.
They are cults. Cult doesn't necessarily have to be something negative that we are a part of. In fact, ALL of us are in some form of a cult, and they usually gift us some positive emotion (or else we wouldn't subscribe). But blindly believing in something without even a momentary question is a dangerous precedent to set and it is how people fall into the more negative "ideologies" or "cults"... I think the lesson here is to ALWAYS question what it is that you think you know... Because in truth we KNOW very little and we don't like to admit that 🤔
Me chilling:

He’s so chill and friendly, cool dude 👌 I always appreciate it when people with experiences like his take the time to tell their story to others, it can be very enlightening.
What an amazing man. I'm glad he's living his best life now.
I would be happy to do "I was raised a Jehovah's witness: Ask me anything" and "I have Aspergers: Ask me anything"
Yes!!!
But it's also similar because the Jw are a cult...
@@destroyer6945 It's more relevant because JWs are much more numerous. Leah Remini did a special on the JWs and how many people have been hurt. It was very interesting.
@@Nepthu i know I'm part of it unfortunately because I'm underage 😶😔
Being a gay man was the pinnacle of enlightenment? 😅😂😂
It's like this cult was designed to lure in ultra woke people. 😂😂
Can you guys do another ones of these with someone with a different cult? I think hearing the different types of practices done by cults can help a lot of people and be interesting to watch
"Do you not know who you are or your place in life?" Hits..... reality really really hard
That one “i hope you find the one true god guy” lost all of my respect. What a shitty thing to do
And what a wrong thing to believe
When u believe in god who taught u to love and wish people to experience what god make in ur life by praying to them not a shitty think cade
The guy heard from him that universe is "LOVE" so he just told him that our god is love and u truly in the right way to meet him
Have a good day buddy❤️😀
I get that he meant well by it and wanted him to find spiritual closure after all that but
My guy, that is not the time to advertise your religion
Araceli From Wii sports club its not advertising my religion its just as i said our god is love so you wish the best for everyone by praying and wishing for them to know him cuz he already saved me so we want people to be saved and know him
Word like advertising makes it like we earn something by telling people that
I don't think he meant it in a bad way
I was never a cult member but I was chosen by some cult to be tortured for, the only reason I can think of, the leaders pleasure and desire to revenge. I hope one day some "scandal" happens and dissolves the group and I hope they forgive themselves as I have forgiven them... I don't hold grudges or resentment against those who just didn't know better. ♥️🙏🏼
Hope you keep speaking up and helping others get out of other cults. 🙌🏼
i am sorry for his situation and i think any group that uses lies and brainwashing to abuse people are predators that should be stopped. Stop lying to children that they are inherently bad and need saving or that they will die in hell tortured for eternity .. the phycological issues embedded from a young age will hunt you for a long time. I lost so much time dealing with self-loathing, depression and a huge FEAR that left me with anxiety issues ...
Question everything no matter how bad it feels!
"When we embrace an identity in an ideology..." "It has nothing to do with logic and reason"
(That's for those of you who think the country is full of Nazi's and that punching people with different political views is ok)
That beginning was creepy
what a beautiful mind that has been shaped from this experience. just wow
Thank you Jubilee for having me! 😭❤
im sorry to take away from the real powerful message of this but no one is talking about how hot he was when he was younger
What a precious man. Please do more of these.
